On His Workout Last Week and the Broncos’ Interest in Him

“I don’t think that they were there (at the workout). I didn’t think that they had any interest in me until Monday when I met with the head coach and the G.M. Basically, that was it.”

On Playing with QB Tim Tebow

“Tim Tebow is a good guy and is a good player, also. I’ll be looking forward to that when I come to Denver.” Click here to read the rest of this entry »

Opening Statement

“It’s been obviously, a busy day for us today and a very productive day. We were able to get two players who we thought could really come in here and contribute. We know what we’re going to get from them – hard work. They’re both obviously talented players and we’re excited about what they may be able to bring here to the Broncos. I think the draft is almost over tonight but there’s still a lot to go here this weekend and we look forward to seeing what we can do tomorrow. We’re excited about adding another third-round draft pick with the different trades we were able to make today. We’ll look to be aggressive again tomorrow and see what we can do to improve our football team.” Click here to read the rest of this entry »

Tim Tebow is a Denver Bronco.

Arguably the greatest player in college football history was drafted by the Broncos with the 25th overall selection in the 2010 NFL Draft.

The Broncos traded 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round draft picks to move back into the first round and select Tebow. They earlier selected WR Demaryius Thomas with the 22nd overall pick.

After a year of trades that saw Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall, Peyton Hillis, and Tony Scheffler exported elsewhere, the Broncos’ offense has a youthful, long-term direction again. Will the picks pay dividends? Did the Broncos, despite trading down from 11th overall, reach for these players?

Demaryius Thomas

The Denver Broncos traded down twice and up once before finding their man. With the 22nd overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Broncos selected wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, Georgia Tech.

Thomas is 6’3″, 224 lbs. with a reported sub-4.5 40 time. According to his profile on NFLDraftCountdown.com, he has great physicality and speed but lacks polish in his route-running and catching. Thomas had a 25-yard average reception in the option and is renowned for his blocking.

The Broncos traded a fourth round draft pick to move up from 24 to select Thomas at 22.

The Broncos threw a number of curve balls in the first round, none moreso than skipping on WR Dez Bryant for Thomas. Personally I would have rather had Bryant and am disappointed McDaniels didn’t hold out longer, but I can’t complain too much because I love the fact that we traded down. What are your thoughts, Broncos fans?

The Denver Broncos have been the NFL’s dealmakers in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

They traded with the San Francisco 49ers from 11 to 13, acquiring a 4th round draft pick, before trading down again with the Philadelphia Eagles to 24th overall. That trade netted them two 3rd round picks.

The Broncos now have the 24th, 43rd, 45th, 70th, 80th, 87th, 113th, No. 114th, No. 137th, and No. 183rd picks in the draft. This also gives them ammunition to move back into the first round a second time, if they so desire.

Meanwhile, Tim Tebow at 24 rumors are flying…

UPDATE: The links are fixed!

Today… tonight, a new Bronco will be known (or will it?). Will it be offense or defense (or a kicker)? For this first time in well… a bit, the first overall pick is not known. This has the potential to be one of the most interesting drafts of all time. The Steelers may want to move up high and possibly dumb a two time Super Bowl winning quarter back only weeks after they shipped off their Super MVP wide receiver (and we thought we had it bad Denver).  Rumor is the Jags want to move down and the Eagles want to soar up. Will a team trade right in front of the Broncos?

Will Denver even stay at the 11th pick? Perhaps they might trade down for Maurkice Pouncey or even Tim Tebow? The Saints may need a quarterback now that Drew Brees is tempting fate as via the Madden curse. This draft is nearly unpredictable. So here we have it, this is my attempt to summarize what’s going on, and for the first time ever I’m taking in trades into account. So what will Denver do tonight?
