"I never understood that word - 'overachiever.' That means you're doing something you're not supposed to be able to do, because obviously we were able to do it."
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was named the 50th-best player in the NFL by NFL Network on Wednesday. Below is NFLN’s piece on Manning:
Cornerback Champ Bailey was ranked 46th, but NFL.com seems to be having technical difficulties with his video. Â When footage of Bailey’s ranking becomes available, we’ll pass it along.

There have been times, in the football jet wash that has followed Peyton Manning into the Broncos’ offensive huddle, when Manning has said there will be a learning curve and there is plenty of work to be done. And that, every once in a while, there would be a day or two like Wednesday.
If you were following Von Miller‘s Twitter feed early Thursday morning you were probably startled. The Broncos’ second-year linebacker Tweeted the following at approximately 10:34 p.m. (MT):
>
Twitter is something else lol @Denver_Broncos: we are excited to announce that we are trading Von Miller to the Steelers for C Hampton.â€
The Tweet seen above suggests that the team announced via Twitter that Von Miller was going to be traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for defensive tackle Casey Hampton. This caused many to suspect that the Broncos’ Twitter account was hacked, but that was not the case. Denver Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey was named the 46th-best player in the NFL by NFL Network on Wednesday. Â Bailey jumped up two spots from 2011, when he ranked 48th overall.
Bailey is the fifth Bronco to make the network’s list — joining quarterback Peyton Manning (50th), outside linebacker Von Miller (52nd), defensive end Elvis Dumervil (68th) and running back Willis McGahee (98th) — and will likely be the last Bronco ranked this year.  The players are voted onto the list by fellow players, according to the network.
“I still don’t know one player that voted for that list,”  Tweeted defensive end Robert Ayers on Tuesday.  Regardless, Bailey is on the list and deserves the recognition. Click here to read the rest of this entry »
On Wednesday, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was named the 50th-best player in the league by NFL Network. Â It’s a big drop for Manning, who was ranked 2nd overall in 2011.
The network’s reason for Manning’s low ranking is simple: Â He didn’t play a down last season. Â With that reasoning, wouldn’t it be more logical to not put him on the list at all?
“If we’re talking about the impact that a certain player had,” Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark stated, “on the success or failure of his team, then Peyton Manning may need to be number one.”
Manny Ramirez enters his second year with the Denver Broncos after securing a roster spot through training camp last year. A six-year NFL veteran who spent his first four years with the Detroit Lions, Ramirez was a promising prospect coming out of Texas Tech when the Lions drafted him in the fourth round of the 2007 draft. Ramirez was a college stud — he received various All-Big 12 honors and set the bench press record for his school at 550 lbs, but he was a starter on a dreadful Lions OL, a disappointment, and was ultimately cut by the team.
2005 was a magical season for the Denver Broncos. Â It was a perfect storm of desire and talent, along with a little luck, that launched the Broncos to a 13-3 record and a home Divisional Playoff game against the perennial Super Bowl favorite New England Patriots.
Most of us remember the play and the mind-losing experience it caused. The biggest irony of it all is that the same man, Champ Bailey, was responsible for lighting the fire under this Broncos team in Week 2 of the season.  Coming off an embarrassing loss on opening day to the Miami Dolphins, the Broncos quickly fell down 14-3 to the San Diego Chargers at home. After getting rightly booed by the home fans, the Broncos fought their way to victory thanks to a game changing Champ Bailey interception return for a touchdown early in the third quarter. The Broncos never looked back, winning twelve of their final fourteen regular season games.
Denver Broncos OTA’s (Organized Team Activities) resume today at 10:05 a.m. MT, with practice open to the media. Below you’ll find what the local news-types are saying.

Siri can't talk smack about BroncoTalk.net anymore.
We talk about ourselves about 1/100th as much as some other Broncos blogs out there, but every so often, something happens behind the scenes worth mentioning. Today definitely fits that bill.
BroncoTalk: there’s an app for that.
(It’s your phone’s built-in web browser, pointed at BroncoTalk.net. Still cool).
We’re in the dredges of the offseason, yet we’re posting five to ten times a day anyway. It was about time we gave our mobile audience a better way to browse BT. Our mission to inform and entertain Broncos fans is now better served with BroncoTalk at your fingertips, anywhere you want it.
Check out our site on your iPhone/Android device/Blackberry/eNV2 (God, for your sake we hope you’re still not suffering through that last one) to see the new mobile look, and let us know what you think or if you have any issues!
