It’s hard not to root for Ben Garland.
Scratch that, it’s un-American.
“I got to practice today, then I got to put on the best uniform in the world, which is this Air Force uniform,” Garland said Wednesday. Garland was sworn into the 140th Wing of the Colorado Air National Guard, part of his six-year commitment as a public relations officer for the Air Force.
Garland spent the last two years on active duty with the Air Force. An undrafted rookie free agent of the Broncos in 2010, he has spent the last two seasons on Denver’s military reserve list, waiting to resume this opportunity.
Any Denver Broncos fan over the age twelve in 1997 would tell you, the victory in Super Bowl XXXII was the greatest sports moment they had ever experienced before or since. Super Bowls are typically filled with big time plays and this one was no different.  The Broncos were 14 point underdogs to the defending champion Green Bay Packers and played out the role in true Hollywood fashion – and John Mobley would ultimately be the hero that saved the day.
Fourth round draft pick center/guard Philip Blake has signed his rookie contract, leaving two draft picks left for the Denver Broncos to sign. The remaining two? Second round draft pick QB Brock Osweiler and third round draft pick RB Ronnie Hillman.
The Denver Broncos are being careful with their four-time surgically repaired, four-time NFL MVP. CBS4 gives us some details on Mike McCoy‘s workout plan with Peyton Manning —
Manning’s workload is being watched by head athletic trainer Steve “Greek†Antonopulos, who is monitoring the quarterback’s rehab along with strength and conditioning coach Luke Richesson.
“Greek and (Manning) have sat down and determined how long he can go, how many throws he can make each week,” McCoy said. “But the mental challenge … we’re throwing everything at him like every other player and as we go his reps will increase.”
Manning reportedly threw only short to intermediate passes in the first Broncos practice open to the media last week. On Wednesday, they got the deep game involved. By many accounts, the session was sloppier. It’s May; they’ll gel in time.
Greek may be limiting Manning’s quantity of throws, but McCoy insists they’re not limiting the quality.
“No he’s fine. He can do everything.”
Gotta say I like hearing the Broncos are being careful with Manning; as badly as I want to see him in sync with these receivers, it’s better to make sure Manning’s MVP count increases before his surgery count does. What do you all think?

Out of the many plays I’ve profiled so far, you’ve heard names like John Elway, Champ Bailey, or Steve Atwater, but here is one you probably won’t recognize – Jeremiah Castille. Castille’s heads up individual effort would end up part of NFL lore and drive the Denver Broncos into their second consecutive Super Bowl appearance.
Ernest Byner and the Cleveland Browns were able to go toe to toe with Elway and the Broncos all day long. Â They were about to tie the game to send it into overtime when another Mile High Magical moment struck an opposing team. The Browns would face the Broncos yet again for a third championship game in 1989, but at the point there was little doubt who would advance to the Super Bowl.
Denver Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey was named the 46th-best player in the NFL by NFL Network on Wednesday.  Below is Bailey’s reaction to his ranking in an interview with NFLN:
