Dolphins DB Will Allen returns a Jay Cutler interception. (AP Photo)
First, Jay Cutler threw an interception in Broncos territory that led to three points for Miami. Two possessions later, he threw another pick, this one returned for a touchdown. Before you knew it, it was 13-0, and the Miami Dolphins (4-4) would hold on to win a 26-17 game against the Denver Broncos (4-4) in Week 9 NFL action.
The Dolphins improve to 8-1-1 in franchise history against the Broncos in the regular season. The Broncos’ 17 points marks the fifth straight game that this once league-leading offense has struggled to even tally 20 points. Despite all of these struggles, the Broncos remain one game ahead in the AFC West, turning their attention to the Cleveland Browns for a Thursday Night Football bout.
Cutler finished with three interceptions, completing just over 50% of his passes and two touchdowns. He didn’t have a lot of help – the usually dominant Broncos rushing attack was stifled to the tune of 14 yards, spoiling rookie running back Ryan Torain‘s NFL debut.

The Green Bay Packers released defensive end Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila who currently holds the Packers sack record in his nine year career there in order to make room for another player coming off the PUP list.
KGB has had a stellar career and really knows how to get to the passer, but he’s had only one start this season. That suggests that he’s slowing down. But would a slow KGB still be an improvement on our squad? Certainly that’s not a guarantee — Simeon Rice wasn’t able to perform for us last year, ending up in an argument over not being given a chance to prove himself (and not doing squat when he was given a chance).
Should the Broncos pursue KGB? Should we let him go?
Personally, I think we should at least bring him in for a work out and an exam, see where he is. We lack enough playmakers on our line. It seems like it would be worth at least trying him out, but I wouldn’t get into a bidding war over him. One year contract for a bit more than the veteran minimum, possibly with incentives.
Friday’s injury report is out, and there’s good news and bad news.
The good news is that only one player is listed as Out — and that’s Champ Bailey.
The bad news is that Scheffler, Stokley, Hall, Young, Pittman and Torain are all listed as questionable. And while technically questionable means 50/50 chance, it always seems a little less positive than that. Still, with them all questionable we can expect right around 3 of them sitting this one out.
Here’s the really tough bit: That’s all of our running back core. Hall seems like the worst off, who sat out Thursday completely. We also know that Torain isn’t slated to start, but if all the other RBs end up not able to play, he wouldn’t have a choice. Personally, I want to see Pittman start with Torain getting a series or two, because we don’t know what he’ll do during a game and we should ease him in.
If Stokley and/or Scheffler are out, our offense will suffer a bit for it.
Let’s hope they all have a good Saturday!

dear mike,
over the past few months you’ve made some comments that have undermined the players, coaches and staff of this great team therefore i’m firing you even though you don’t work for me.
Love Al Davis.

Sam Paulescu battled as a member of the Broncos all through training camp. While he may have lost the punter job to Brett Kern, I’m happy to see him having success elsewhere in the NFL. Nice hit – way to go Sam!
Good News: Running back Ryan Torain went through a full practice, marking a likely NFL debut for this Sunday. Michael Pittman, who sat out last week’s only practice with bruised ribs, also went through a full workout. WR Eddie Royal wasn’t listed at all, indicating his previous ankle concerns are a non-issue at this point.
Bad News: TE Tony Scheffler was limited in practice again, along with RB Selvin Young. Andre Hall was also limited with an ankle injury. How ironic is this – heading into Week 8, the Broncos’ healthiest running back just might be Ryan Torain.
‘I Don’t Know Where to File This’ News – WR Brandon Stokley was limited in practice, dealing with the concussion he suffered against Jacksonville in Week 6. I’m glad he’s seeing the field, but part of me was hopeful he’d be full steam after the bye.
Meanwhile, Miami has only one player listed on their injury report – their fullback. Oh, and he went through a full practice. We’ll be getting Miami’s best in Denver this weekend. I say bring it on.

Marlon McCree
KOA sideline reporter Andy Lindahl is reporting on Jet 107.9 (10/27) that Marlon McCree is running with the first team defense once again and expects him to start in the Miami game. After live blogging the Patriots game I don’t think any of our readers will be sad to see Calvin Lowry riding the bench. Lindhahl also thinks that McCree or Manual would be a pretty good safety if not paired with the other guy, making the case that they’re both guys in their 30s with a similar playing style that could use fresh blood next to them.
Other topics on the table for discussion is the pickup of Chad Jackson, the former 1st round pick out of Florida by the Patriots. Andy says he doesn’t understand the pickup and thinks it’s a mistake which I pretty much completely disagree on. Trying to keep discussion on the positives rather than what our defense is going to look like without the Bailey company on the field they bring up the schedule. That it’s very realistic that Denver could go 5-0 over this next stretch if they decide to show up. Lindhahl also points out that the entire season could be put back on track if Ryan Torain starts to play this weekend and eventually becomes the player and starter that the Denver coaching staff and media thinks he can be. “Look at the Patriots, as banged up as they are, they can still win games when they can run the ball.”
