Broncos’ playbook will be new to Manning, not to coaches | Denver Post
Let’s clear something up. Offensive coordinator Mike McCoy did not send the Broncos’ offensive playbook through the shredder after the team signed quarterback Peyton Manning this spring.

Brock Osweiler’s arm strength was arguably the strongest in the draft — even with a delivery that needed refinement.

If sportsbooks company Cantor Gambling has it right, the Denver Broncos will win between seven and 11 games in 2012. The Vegas lines-setter has now posted odds for 240 of the 256 regular season NFL games (all but Week 17).
A few notes from the 2012 Broncos spreads below:
- The Broncos open at home as two-point favorites to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but then are only favored once more before their bye in Week Seven.
- Home teams are favored in 11 of the Broncos’ contests. Three of the games are pick-em games, so the away team is only favored once in Denver’s 2012 season.
- The biggest predicted deficit for the Broncos is against New England in Week Five (+7). The largest predicted advantage is at home against Oakland and Tampa Bay (each -8.5).

Jerry Franklin
Pos: Inside Linebacker
School: Arkansas
Class: Senior
Ht: 6’1″ Wt: 245 lbs.
40-time: 4.64 Bench: 15
Jerry Franklin has the physical size, bulk, and arm length from which exceptional linebackers are molded. A two-time team captain, Franklin led his Arkansas teammates in tackles every year of his four-year career, only the second Razorback to accomplish that feat since 1960. Franklin displayed versatility while achieving this — he mostly played inside but started 10 games in 2009 at weakside linebacker as well. Scouting reports suggest he’s football smart, disciplined, and a natural leader with moderate-to-decent measurables.

Drayton Florence: A Product of Raised Expectations | Max Denver
Perhaps no single signing since Peyton Manning better illustrates the Broncos’ raised expectations than their pickup of cornerback Drayton Florence. Denver’s signing — and that he was on the market in the first place — is evidence of two franchises in diametrically different places on the NFL spectrum.
Mecklenburg: “I Have Good Days And Bad Days.” | KOA 850
If he had it to do over again with the benefit of more than four years of hindsight, my guess is Goodell would change that answer quite substantially. The NFL committee on brain injuries to which he referred was subsequently so discredited as an apologist for the league that its co-chairmen, Dr. Ira Casson and Dr. David Viano, resigned in November 2009.

San Diego State University Aztec long snapper Aaron Brewer.
Aaron Brewer
Pos: Long snapper
School: Oklahoma State
Class: Senior
Ht: 6’5″ Wt: 225 lbs.
40-time: 4.96 Bench: 10
Aaron Brewer snaps footballs good.
(I thought about ending this scouting report there, but I’ll continue). A starter in every game in his four-year career as an Aztec, Brewer was on the field for every field goal and punt at SDSU. A high school star at linebacker, Brewer also tallied 15 tackles in his college career while being honored as an All-Academic Mountain West Conference selection each year.

Jamie Blatnick
Pos: Defensive End
School: Oklahoma State
Class: Senior
Ht: 6’3″ Wt: 265 lbs.
40-time: 4.9 Bench: 28
Jamie Blatnick is a tenacious defensive end “in a linebacker’s body.” He was named Oklahoma State’s Most Valuable Player on defense by his teammates in 2011, only his first full year starting, and one year after he served a one-game suspension following a bar fight in 2010. A 260-lb. run-stuffer in college, Blatnick doesn’t have the size to continue in that role at the NFL; he either has to produce as a pass rusher or bulk up to suit the defensive line. Scouted as a potential 3-4 OLB tweener, he had eight sacks through the 2011 season while netting 50 tackles. Scouts love his tenacity, durability, strength, and versatility. Decent in pass coverage for a linebacker; more than decent for a defensive end. Three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection. There is plenty of work to be done on Blatnick’s technique and first step, and his combine numbers weren’t great, but the potential’s there.

The Denver Broncos continued to address their secondary Thursday, coming to terms with free agent cornerback Drayton Florence, formerly of the Buffalo Bills and San Diego Chargers, FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer first reported. The team and Florence each confirmed the news on their respective Twitter accounts.
The Broncos and Florence reportedly agreed to a two-year deal worth $4.5-$5.5 million. By comparison, recently released cornerback Andre Goodman was due $4.62 million in 2012 alone. The Broncos got a similar player for half the price.

Toledo Rockets WR Eric Page runs against Ohio State in 2011. (AP Photo/Jay LaPrete)
Eric Page
Pos: Wide Receiver
School: Toledo
Class: Junior
Ht: 5’9″ Wt: 186 lbs.
40-time: 4.53 Bench: 15
Eric Page probably can’t believe he wasn’t drafted. Had he continued at Toledo for his senior season, he would have very likely smashed the NCAA football record in career receptions, having totaled 306 in three years, 49 catches shy of the mark held by Oklahoma’s Ryan Broyles. He’s one of the only underclassmen the Broncos brought in this year and one of the few UDFA’s to attend the combine. Page was named first-team All American kick returner by the Sporting News in 2010 (the first Rocket in 35 years to be named first-team All American). A dreadful combine led to him falling out of the draft completely, but if this ball-hawk can impress in camp the Broncos very well may have found a diamond in the rough.
