Stink List GraphicNote: if you’re looking for positive thoughts, or for something to cheer you up, something to help you realize life is worth living, don’t read this. They all stink, the whole team, all of em. Life in general too, while we’re at it, #1 on the Stink List=Living.
I was irate.
Now I’m numb.
Numb to it all.
Numb to the Pro Bowl selections.
Numb to all the free agency/resigning talk.
Numb to draft position or needs.
Numb to every comment or quote relating to “taking care of business,” or “not worrying about what’s out of our hands.”
I’m numb to all the Broncos gear I just received for Christmas. Anyone else feel like packing it all up in a box?
It’s surreal isn’t it?
The Oakland game was surreal. There wasn’t one point where I actually believed we could lose that game.
The Philly game was unreal. I was foaming at the mouth pissed.
I gave up, I admit it, I gave up before we closed the gap. Then they made me feel bad for giving up them. Only to allow a 26 or 27 or 28 or whatever yard scramble for a first down. Damn. Pathetic.
This season has been a downright bummer. Click here to read the rest of this entry »

State of the Franchise

News and notes from Denver’s weekly press release. View the full release here (.pdf).

Looking to secure the 18th playoff berth in franchise history, the Denver Broncos (8-7) host the Kansas City Chiefs (3-12) this week in their regular-season finale. Kickoff at INVESCO Field at Mile High is set for 2:15 p.m. MST, and the game will be televised by CBS with Dick Enberg and Dan Fouts calling the action.

QUICKLY:

  • There are more than 10 different scenarios in which the Broncos can qualify for the postseason as a Wild Card team based on the outcomes of this weekend’s games.
  • Denver, which is entering its regular-season finale with a record above .500 for the ninth time in the last 10 years, has won four of its last five games against the Chiefs. In their first meeting against the Chiefs this year (Dec. 6), the Broncos won by a 44-13 margin at Arrowhead Stadium.

Brandon Marshall

The recipient of 101 of Kyle Orton‘s 304 completions this season should be available to receive a few more against the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday.

NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora, citing a team source, reports that Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall is expected to play. The Pro Bowl wide receiver suffered a hamstring injury during practice Wednesday and did not return during the portion of practice open to the media.

Marshall was listed as limited in practice in Wednesday’s injury report.

Huge news — the Broncos desperately need #15 for Game #16 as they make their final playoff push.

Despite signs to the contrary, Mitch Berger will continue to fill the Denver Broncos‘ punting duties this Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, head coach Josh McDaniels told reporters Wednesday. The team signed punter Britton Colquitt to its active roster Wednesday.

“Berger is still punting,” McDaniels said. “We never stop trying to improve the team or look, as we move forward here, any way we feel we can add depth to our football team going forward, that’s what we try to do.”

Coach’s comments end speculation that Colquitt might punt while Berger stays as holder for placekicker Matt Prater. Click here to read the rest of this entry »

Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels, quarterback Kyle Orton, and Pro Bowl safety Brian Dawkins address the media Wednesday, as they do every Wednesday, this time in preparation for the Broncos’ Week 17 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Opening comments

“I’ll start by publically congratulating the five players and then the one alternate that were selected to the Pro Bowl. All of them—(T) Ryan Clady, (WR) Brandon Marshall, (CB) Champ Bailey, (S) Brian Dawkins, (OLB) Elvis Dumervil and (ILB) D.J. Williams—are very deserving, earned that recognition and are certainly deserving of selection. We’re proud of all of those guys.

“We’re into our preparation for the Chiefs. There are some different things that we’re getting ready for than when we played a month ago. (WR) Dwayne Bowe is back, (which) certainly adds another element to their offense. He and (WR Chris) Chambers, that’s a pretty good duo to throw the football to. (RB) Jamaal Charles, in the last seven games, nobody has rushed for more yards than he has other than (Tennessee RB) Chris Johnson, which is saying a lot. He’s playing extremely well. The defense has turned the ball over 14 times in the last five or six games, and their kicking game is probably as good as anybody’s that we’ve played. We’ve got a great challenge ahead of us and expect a tough division game on Sunday.” Click here to read the rest of this entry »

Brandon MarshallDenver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall came up lame after running a route during Wednesday practice, CBS4 reports. Marshall remained sidelined, talking to both a trainer and head coach Josh McDaniels as the portion of practice open to the media came to a close.

Missing at practice were Eddie Royal and Daniel Graham.

CBS’ Gary Miller reports that Marshall injured his right hamstring. No word on how serious Marshall’s injury is.

And so, with bated breath, we await Wednesday’s official injury report.

The Denver Broncos‘ five Pro Bowl representatives mark the franchise’s largest number since 2001. Inside linebacker D.J. Williams is an AFC no-show away from making it six.

Williams has earned Pro Bowl alternate honors, Josh McDaniels told reporters Wednesday, meaning he’ll appear in Miami’s game in the case Baltimore‘s Ray Lewis or Houston‘s DeMeco Ryans don’t go.

Williams leads the Broncos with 111 tackles. The 2004 draft pick has 3.5 sacks and three forced fumbles on the season.

Again, this only matters if the Broncos don’t make the Super Bowl, which they will, so it’s all superfluous in the meantime.
