The woman who accused former Denver Broncos cornerback Perrish Cox of sexual assault has filed a lawsuit seeking unspecified damages against Cox and current Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, according to The Associated Press.  Cox was acquitted of all charges in March, and has since signed with the San Francisco 49ers.
Thomas is entering his third season with the Broncos and is undoubtedly regretting hanging out with the crowd he did in September of 2010, when the women was allegedly drugged at a nightclub and taken back to Cox’s apartment, with former Broncos cornerback Cassius Vaughn and Thomas both present.  The woman later became pregnant and accused Cox of sexual assault, but charges were acquitted.

The Denver Broncos are a day away from their first full-team, mandatory workouts this 2012 offseason. The team’s 2012 Mini-Camp opens tomorrow, with each session open to the media in its entirety. Among the storylines we’ll be watching:
Will Matt Prater be present? The franchise-tagged kicker has been missing the voluntary OTA’s while he and the Broncos negotiate a long-term deal, but if he misses mandatory workouts, it would signal an elevation in his discord. The Broncos and Prater have one more day to try and finalize a deal and avoid Prater either unhappily reporting to camp, or unhappily holding out.

Stokley shows Broncos he’s more than guide to Peyton Manning’s moves | Denver Post
There’s this idea out there, and it would be correct, that Brandon Stokley deserves some credit for helping the Broncos land quarterback Peyton Manning. But the reverse also is true.

The home where Manning will be staying, as seen from Google Maps.
It truly is a small world.  Quarterback Peyton Manning, who signed with the Denver Broncos earlier in the offseason, is temporarily staying in Mike Shanahan‘s Cherry Hills Village home until he can find a permanent place to live in the Mile High City.
The house is considerably larger than the one Peyton stayed in when he visited the Broncos earlier in the year, when Manning stayed in wide receiver Brandon Stokley‘s son’s room.  The  35,000-square-foot mansion was finished in 2009, according to the Associated Press, about the same time Shanahan was fired as Denver’s head coach.

D.J. Williams deletes post of defensive formations, but issue adds to woes | Denver Post
Is D.J. Williams trying to find trouble? In what has to be considered a serious breach of security in the secretive world that is the NFL, Williams posted what appeared to be six formations of one defensive play from the Broncos’ playbook on his Twitter account Friday.

Posted in Opinion by Monty on Fri Jun 8th
By now you’re all familiar with the story. D.J. Williams went to Twitter early Friday and posted a picture of the Denver Broncos playbook, now iPad-driven, joking about how he’s still old-school and wants to use pencil and paper. Next to his iPad are a stack of notecards and a pencil. Very funny.
The problem is that the picture he took also included diagrams of six Broncos plays (well, not exactly “plays”… we’ll get to that).
Obviously this wasn’t the smartest move on D.J.’s part. One of the very benefits of the Broncos’ move to iPad playbooks was increased security, and Tweeting a picture of the playbook in-action to his 10,000 followers isn’t exactly demonstrating mastery in subterfuge. Still, without going overboard (some fans say the Broncos should cut or trade him immediately… um, no), here are the mind-bending things we learned from D.J.’s little escapade: Click here to read the rest of this entry »

Manning is an ace teacher for rookie Osweiler | Denver Post
Though he has not thrown his first pass in the NFL, Broncos rookie quarterback Brock Osweiler carries more than a little football history. The 21-year-old might be the first passer in the league’s lifetime to be drafted by a Hall of Fame quarterback in John Elway, then sit in the meeting room next to a certain Hall of Fame quarterback in Peyton Manning.

On Thursday, the New England Patriots parted ways with veteran wide receiver Chad Johnson, according to ESPN‘s Adam Schefter. Chad is now an unrestricted free agent and has hit the open market.
According to Schefter, the Patriots tried to trade Johnson throughout the day Thursday but their attempts were futile — no teams were willing to trade for a 34-year-old receiver who comes with baggage. Fortunately for Johnson, his chances of landing on his feet are better than Terrell Owens‘, who was recently cut by an Indoor Football League team.
Johnson is four years younger than Owens and still has some gas left in the tank. Johnson was owed $3 million by the Patriots in 2012 and was pushed out the door after reportedly having trouble grasping New England’s offensive system last season.
In 2011, Johnson caught a career-low 15 passes for 276 yards and one score, which came against the Broncos in Week 15 of the season. The Patriots’ acquisitions of free agent wide receivers Brandon Lloyd—who was traded out of Denver to St. Louis last season and followed Offensive Coordinator Josh McDaniels to New England—Jabar Gaffney and Donte Stallworth made Johnson expendable.   Click here to read the rest of this entry »

Peyton Manning Ready to Prove Critics Wrong? | IB Times
Just a few months ago, Peyton Manning’s reputation was at stake. The veteran quarterback signed with the Denver Broncos after missing the entire 2012 NFL Season due to neck surgery. Some speculated that he would never be the same, while others said he would be able to play for another five years.
