The NFL announced on Thursday that late afternoon doubleheader games will be moved back ten minutes this season to avoid overlapping games.  This will move the Denver Broncos‘ previously scheduled 2:15 p.m. (MT) games to 2:25 p.m. (MT).

In the past, fans watching from home have missed the beginning of late doubleheader games when the earlier game lasts longer than expected.  The NFL is hoping the new kickoff times will prevent that from happening this season.

Four Broncos games will be affected — Week 3 vs. Houston (2:25 p.m. MT), Week 5 at New England (4:25 p.m. ET), Week 11 vs. San Diego (2:25 p.m. MT) and Week 17 vs. Kansas City (2:25 p.m. MT).  See the full schedule here.

In addition, Denver’s Week 15 game at Baltimore on December 16th (currently scheduled for 1 p.m. ET), is eligible to be flexed to either 4:15 p.m., or Sunday Night Football.  All of Denver’s games following Week 11 are eligible to be flexed to SNF this season.

Talking about all of these games makes us even more excited for the season to arrive.  72 days, 21 hours, 5 minutes, 38 seconds and 238 milliseconds!

This offseason, we’re going to do a Speak Up series looking at each position (o-line, d-line, etc).  Today, we’re looking at the linebackers.

We want to know who you think should be the three main linebackers in the Denver Broncos‘ 4-3 defense this season.  Who should play base, who should play nickel?

Returning:  MLB Joe Mays, OLB Wesley Woodyard, MLB Nate Irving, OLB Von Miller, LB Mike Mohamed and LB D.J. Williams.

Acquired:  OLB Danny Trevathan, LB Elliot Coffey, LB Steven Johnson and MLB Jerry Franklin.

Last season, the Broncos linebackers were Miller, Mays and Williams with Woodyard seeing time in nickel packages.   Click here to read the rest of this entry »

Today is the great John Elway‘s 52nd Birthday.  During his sixteen-years as a quarterback, Elway led the Denver Broncos to five Super Bowls (winning two), threw for 300 touchdowns, was selected to nine Pro Bowls, was a member of the NFL’s 1990s All-Decade Team and won a League MVP (1987).

After his career was finished, Elway’s No. 7 was retired by the team and he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2004.  There’s plenty of footage of Elway on YouTube, including these highlights.

Last year, Elway returned to the team as the Vice President of Football Operations.  In his first year, the Broncos went 8-8 and won the AFC West and earned a postseason birth for the first time in over five years.  The Broncos were also the only team in the NFL to send a drafted rookie (linebacker Von Miller) and an acquired free agent (running back Willis McGahee) to the Pro Bowl last season.

Happy Birthday, Elway!  Have a great day.

This offseason, we’re going to do a Speak Up series looking at each position (o-line, d-line, etc.).  Today, we’re looking at the tight ends.

We want to know who you think should be the main tight ends in Denver this season.  Who should be No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3?

Returning:  Virgil Green, Cornelius Ingram and Julius Thomas.

Acquired:  Joel Dreessen, Jacob Tamme and Anthony Miller.

During minicamp, Dreessen and Tamme have appeared to be the Co-No. 1 tight ends, with Green, Miller and Ingram following in behind (Thomas is recovering from an injury).  Dreessen and Tamme will presumably be the top two tight ends, but who will be the third?

The Broncos will likely keep three-to-four tight ends, meaning Green, Thomas, Miller and Ingram will be fighting for two spots.  Who do you think should make the team?

Dish out your thoughts in the comments and vote in the poll after the jump!
