Disrespect. This week’s AP game preview for Broncos-Panthers mentions Carolina’s battle NEXT WEEK with the New York Giants BEFORE even mentioning the “tricky” game against the Broncos.
Tricky? Since when is 8-5 and the third seed in the AFC considered “tricky?” It’s going to be a good game, and I, for one, am pumped for it! Anyone looking ahead of Denver – who is 3-0 against the NFC South and riding a 4-1 stretch – is in for a rude awakening.
The AP aren’t the only ones looking ahead, either. I’ve seen or heard a number of sports programs say effectively the same thing. “The Panthers and Giants appear destined for a big match for the NFC’s #1 seed – and, oh yeah, Carolina’s gotta play the bruised Broncos first.”
This all sounds eerily similar to ESPN’s comments two weeks ago when we headed East to face the Jets: “The Broncos shouldn’t even bother getting off the plane.” Part of me hates the blatant disrespect, but part of me loves it just the same. We all know this group of guys responds to this type of stuff.
Yes, the Panthers are going to be a difficult opponent. Perhaps the toughest we’ve faced all season. Can the Broncos win? Absolutely. Carolina’s defense is middle-of-the-pack while I’d take Jay Cutler over Jake Delhomme every day of the week (and twice on Sunday).
This has shootout/offensive juggernaut written all over it in my mind, with plenty of points to be scored and a game decision by one score or less. And the Broncos are 5-0 this season in close games. The defense does JUST enough to win, week in and week out. My Prediction: Broncos 34, Panthers 28.

As the San Diego Chargers continue to struggle, more and more people are searching on Google and other search engines for the phrase “Chargers suck.”
How do we know this? This post, written during our offseason “Smack Talk Week,” has just become BroncoTalk’s all-time most-viewed post. As the season’s gone along, more and more people searching for “Chargers suck” have come across our little corner of the web. Before, our discussion of the missing home field advantage in 2007 was the most-viewed post all time.
BroncoTalk: Not only a source of Broncos news, but a source of Chargers suckage all season long.
Jeb Putzier
The Denver Broncos made a few more roster moves Wednesday, adding a familiar face and releasing another who had just joined the club last week.
Tight end Jeb Putzier, who was drafted by the Broncos out of Boise State in 2002, was signed on Wednesday. Putzier was with the Broncos through 2005, and he’s spent the last three seasons with the Texans and Seahawks. He takes the roster spot of waived S Herana-Daze Jones, who joined the Broncos just last week.
This is just the latest batch or roster moves in a busy week for the Broncos; the club on Tuesday also officially added Cory Boyd, along with guard Pat Murray. They released S Calvin Lowry.
Two safeties gone in two days? I guess they’ve settled on Josh Barrett. Both press releases are after the jump. Click here to read the rest of this entry »

Every mid-week several fans of the Bronco Nation find themselves aching for some news. Have you ever opened up your browser and wanted something to surf but you’ve already read every word NFL.com, Bronco Talk, Mile High Report, ESPN, Walter Football, and Pro Football Talk has had to say? And all you want to hear is how awesome Wesley Woodyard is for an undrafted rookie and that Denver deserves to be higher in the power rankings than they currently are. I know this pain, for I feel it too.
So here this article is… a beacon of hope in the midst of the old, stale, used up, non-Denver biased ones. For here you will find praises sung of glorious men such as Brandon Marshall and Ryan Clady. Also you’ll read the criticism of derelicts such as Al Davis. Including Walter Football’s extremely awesome mock draft.
If you’re in the midst of class, work, or just plain bored inside this article is a checklist of things for you to do to pass the time. The feedback you submit won’t go unread or unappreciated like those other websites leave you feeling. Here Bronco fans you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for.
God bless the Internet and God bless the Broncos!

You could say the Denver Broncos‘ offensive line has kept their quarterback in style this season. Jay Cutler is merely returning the favor.
Cutler treated all five of his starting offensive linemen this week, along with blocking tight end Daniel Graham and short-yardage blocker/backup center Kory Lichtensteiger, to new tailored suits. Assuming the tailor doesn’t run out of fabric, these seven Broncos will be dressed to kill for the holidays.
Not that they haven’t been dressed to kill on the football field all season long already. The third year quarterback has only been sacked eight times in 501 pass attempts, a percentage that leads the NFL and projects to be the second best in NFL history. Led by first-year starters Ryan Clady and Ryan Harris at tackle, the Broncos’ o-line has dominated every opponent it’s faced. What’s more, Football Outsiders ranks the Broncos offensive line first in run blocking as well.
The icing on the cake is that the core of this group consists of young players who will be around a long time. In the years to come, Cutler will have to start getting creative to find presents worthy of the efforts his o-line gives him. I’d say he did a fine job this year.

Hey, D.J.! Yeah, you, D.J. Williams. How’s it going, pal. How’s life treating you? Finally getting healthy, you say? Getting ready to get back onto the field, you say? Well, that’s just great.
There’s just one problem. This bad ass mutha f-er right here. He needs to be on the field at all times, whenever the other team has the ball.
And, you see… he plays weak side linebacker too.
So, we know you’ve been versatile and a huge asset for this club over the years. And I know we promised to leave you at weak side and let you flourish.
(Nervous laughter)
Feel like playing middle linebacker again?
No, we’re not Wally Pipping you. We’re asking you to do this for the team. Again.
Please?

Once again Jay Cutler is up for the Fed Ex Air Player of the Week and finally for the first time Ryan Clady gets the respect he deserves by being nominated for the Diet Pepsi Rookie of the Week. As Bronco fans it is our duty to vote in hopes to grant them one of these prestigious awards. Cutler won last week’s Fed Ex Air Player of the Week so lets help him make it back to back and also his third time this year.
I’m sure many of you have noticed that that Denver rookies have won this award in Week 1, 10, 11, and 13. If Clady wins it this week then that will mean 4 Bronco rookies have won this weekly award 5 times. None of the other 31 teams in the NFL have posted different winning rookie players for this award and Denver has even posted winners on both sides of the field. Clady is up against a group of tough nominees, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie returned an interception 99 yards to the house and everyone knows how volitile the group of running backs on the list are. As my esteemed Bronco Talk colleague Ian Henson pointed out Rod Woodson criticized the voting fans for their choice of Peyton Hillis. Its time to let Rod know that last week wasn’t a fluke.
So get out there Denver fans and show everyone that our 2008 draft class is the real deal! Click here to vote for JC! Click here to vote #78! Press release after the jump.

The Denver Broncos will promote rookie running back Cory Boyd from the practice squad this week. Peyton Hillis became the fifth Broncos RB to be placed on IR this season, so the Broncos are turning to Boyd to help Tatum Bell and P.J. Pope pick up the Broncos running game.
Boyd is 6-1, 218 lbs. and ran a 4.51 40-time at the combine. He was a seventh round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers out of South Carolina who reached an injury settlement with the team. Check out the Cory Boyd highlights below (extra hard-hitting highlight after the jump):
