One of the newer additions to the Denver Broncos LenDale White was nice enough to provide his twitter followers with rookie Tim Tebow’s latest hair style:

Tebow really is a team first player… Wonder if this will affect any of his endorsement deals.

Dating back to last season, the Broncos rookies have had to endure some painful training camp hair cuts brought to them exclusively by the Mile High Veterans association AKA anyone that made it through or past the great Josh McDaniels rapture of 2009.

A good look for Tebow, that may bring in a whole new slew of endorsement deals…. Rogaine, please contact me here if you’re interested. Tim, I’ll only take 2% to broker the deal, call me and we’ll do lunch.

Kyle Orton didn’t know what was happening, but he was suddenly losing the focus of his teammates on the field. Blue and white jerseys were suddenly taking flight around him.  It took the quarterback a few moments, but he finally caught on — an ice cream truck had driven onto the field, and his teammates were in hot (cool?) pursuit.

Tim Tebow, watching from the sideline, didn’t recognize it at first, either.

“I didn’t have a clue what was going on,” Tebow said. “I figured they were putting back on the music and someone actually put that (ice cream truck music) on their playlist and I was like, ‘What?’ But then, you know, found out it was the ice cream truck so it was a cool surprise.”

A cool surprise indeed. Click here to read the rest of this entry »

Denver Broncos safety Josh Barrett

Denver Broncos safety Josh Barrett

Safety Josh Barrett had already scheduled his shoulder surgery and cleared the procedure with his team when the Denver Broncos announced he would be placed on Injured Reserve Thursday. But, as part of the process of being placed on IR, Barrett was actually placed on the Waived/Injured list, meaning the other 31 teams had 24 hours to claim him.

And the New England Patriots did just that.

Barrett, one of the Broncos’ 2008 seventh round draft picks, is now the property of Bill Belichick and company in Foxboro, and, by our understanding, moves to their active roster.

Wide receiver Kenny McKinley was similarly designated, was not claimed, and so moves to the Broncos’ Injured Reserve list as expected.

Shrewd move by Belichick, recognizing his pupil putting a guy on IR who might still be able to put in work this season. Apparently this 24-hour period is a mere “formality” that rarely gets exploited but did in this case. Now, if the Patriots do decide to place him on IR, he’ll have to clear the same 24-hour window, in which the Broncos could actually claim him back. What a weird turn of events.

On Friday, fans, coaches and teammates had to witness another outside linebacker, the team’s newly-signed running back, and one half of the practicing offensive linemen with game experience in Josh McDaniels‘ offense walk into the locker room in the middle of practice to not return.

Through one week, this year’s training camp has been remarkably brutal for the Denver Broncos, who have been decimated by injuries, starting with the losses of running backs Knowshon Moreno and Correll Buckhalter on the first day. Today was merely a continuation of that trend. Outside linebacker Jarvis Moss left practice Friday with a broken hand, running back LenDale White walked with a trainer with an unspecified injury, and starting right guard Chris Kuper headed to the locker room with a reported sprained right ankle.

“We plan on taking the pads off tonight,” McDaniels said, “and having a walkthrough tomorrow morning before the stadium practice Saturday night. So you know, we should pull off with some of the banging around here, but ultimately I think we gotta continue to push through some of this stuff.” Click here to read the rest of this entry »

Jarvis Moss

The hits keep on coming in Denver. Two days after the Denver Broncos lost star outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil for at least four months to a torn pectoral muscle, one of the players meant to replace him has also reportedly been hurt.

Fox 31’s Josina Anderson is reporting that Denver Broncos outside linebacker Jarvis Moss suffered a broken bone in his right hand during practice Friday morning.

Starting right guard Chris Kuper also walked off the field with an apparent right ankle or foot injury. Newly signed running back LenDale White was also seen heading to the locker room early Friday.

Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post reports Moss will miss two weeks but will try to play with a club cast on his hand.

Someone out there is really screwing around with Broncos voodoo dolls; I’ve got $20 to whomever finds him and makes him suffer. Take pictures.

Denver Broncos linebackers Robert Ayers and Jarvis Moss on Thursday, August 5, 2010 (BroncoTalk.net)

Left side. Right side. And around and around they go.

The two men tasked with filling in the shoes of Elvis Dumervil had a busy day Thursday. Linebackers Jarvis Moss and Robert Ayers, both former first round draft picks, switched from left and right outside linebacker on nearly every play in team drills as the Denver Broncos experimented with how best to address the hole Dumervil’s pectoral injury left behind.

“There’s no way we’re going to replace (Dumervil) in terms of his production as just a single pass rusher,” Head Coach Josh McDaniels said Thursday. “I don’t think that’s fair to anybody but the way we’re going to go about trying to replace him as a player who is on the field a lot. (It) may take a few different people and may take some creativity for us.”

“Both of those guys (Ayers and Moss) had phenomenal — they were two top vote getters in the offseason program in the linebacker position and they know the opportunity that they have before them,” McDaniels said.

So, on Day One A.D. (After Doom), how did the Drafted Duo do? I’ll give the edge to Moss, since that’s what the offensive line seemed to do, while reserving plenty of my remaining two days in Denver to observe, analyze, and finalize an opinion on the matter.
