Is your glass half empty or half full?

The Glass Half Empty Fan will keep the Denver Broncos‘ 24-10 victory over the Buffalo Bills Saturday night in context. It was the second week of the preseason. It was against one of the league’s basement-dwellers, playing against a terrible offensive line and possibly worse quarterback situation.

The Glass Half Full Fan will remind himself that, despite the current status of the Broncos’ opponent, Denver was technically dwelling deeper in the basement than Buffalo a few short months ago. Strength of schedule tiebreaker slotted the 4-12 Broncos to draft before the 4-12 Bills in April, meaning the Bills were technically the better team.

What a difference an offseason makes. Click here to read the rest of this entry »

It isn’t necessarily a permanent move on the depth chart, but tonight, Brady Quinn will be getting more snaps at quarterback than Tim Tebow, multiple news outlets are reporting.

Quinn, who shined in the Denver Broncos‘ first preseason game, is expected to play whatever remains of the first half after starter Kyle Orton is finished, as well as the third quarter. Tebow will run the offense in the fourth quarter.

If Quinn has outperformed Tebow in camp, which some say he has, he certainly deserves this shot following his performance last week. We applaud the Broncos’ brass for this potentially unpopular move, rather than being loyal to any one QB. We’re eager to see how each signal caller makes the most of his respective opportunities. May the best man win — that’s what’s best for the Broncos, after all.

LenDale White

Denver native LenDale White never got to really suit up for his hometown team. In one calendar year, the sixth-year running back played in only a handful of preseason games for the Denver Broncos before the team released him today, the Denver Post reports. An Achilles tear kept him out of the entire 2010 season.

White, the league leader in touchdowns in 2008, had rushed for 10 yards on four carries in Denver’s first preseason game, a performance that was overshadowed by RB Jeremiah Johnson‘s 28-yard, one touchdown effort Thursday. Already buried on the depth chart behind Knowshon Moreno, Willis McGahee, and Lance Ball, the writing was on the wall for White.
