It isn’t necessarily a permanent move on the depth chart, but tonight, Brady Quinn will be getting more snaps at quarterback than Tim Tebow, multiple news outlets are reporting.

Quinn, who shined in the Denver Broncos‘ first preseason game, is expected to play whatever remains of the first half after starter Kyle Orton is finished, as well as the third quarter. Tebow will run the offense in the fourth quarter.

If Quinn has outperformed Tebow in camp, which some say he has, he certainly deserves this shot following his performance last week. We applaud the Broncos’ brass for this potentially unpopular move, rather than being loyal to any one QB. We’re eager to see how each signal caller makes the most of his respective opportunities. May the best man win — that’s what’s best for the Broncos, after all.

Love the team-first take on it, Kyle.  I love Tebow, but some of his fans are just too much!

  • john

man that Quinn plays great in camp and that's what really counts. Orton is already on pace to throw for thousands of yards again this year. Yup, it's gonna be another great year. Just like last year.
Hey, maybe TT will get traded to Cleveland for another great practice player, cuz we really like those practice players.

  • Wadezombie

I agree, looking good in camp always equates to winning.  Orton looked great last year, in camp, and all those games he won.  I think John Elway is brilliant, using the guys that look good in camp, instead of using the horrible looking guys that win.  I want to be a broncos fan, and was looking forward to TT looking bad and winning, but I quess John Elway doesn't remember how bad he looked when he started, and how TT is the closest thing to him and a winner that could actually bring in new fans.

  • Rcsodak

shouldn't be too long before the TT sack lickers start crying.

I like and admire TT as a person, and had fun watching him last year.  But its obvious he's made zero progress, and I'm not so sure, a step backwards.

  • Wadezombie

It is going to be sad to lose the 1rst round draft pick that brought new fans and winning games, and trade him to a team that will always beat the crap out of you.

  • Reallity Bites

winning games? I think that was one game. The genius that gave up draft picks to move up and get him when no other NFL teams front office thought he was a first round pick was the master talent evaluator Josh Mcd. After all of the brilliant moves he made are we to believe that was a good one.

  • Grumpy1

Brady Quinn is still in football???

  • jdkchem

One player worked on becoming better a player the other made underwear commercials.  Why would anyone expect different results.

  • ace strocker

This whole thing is because little orton can't handle  the pressure .  wus   has any one ever seen brady play ouch good luck with that one.glad  orton  didn't come to miami

  • 12508

Wow I didn't know Tebow was this bad. I'm sure Fox and Elway want to win games. Elway also knows a little about the qb spot. If and when Tebow should be the starter he will start. It don't look good tho.

  • King

This is what scares me.   We will see how great Orton is in games that count.  My money says he will turn into a choke factory when games are close.

  • King

Orton scored one touchdown in 2 quarters.  That's not that great to me.  Orton is a well without water.

  • Bbroncos90

i reckon Tebow is paid too much to be a third string QB, they might trade or cut him.

  • Nisse

i love that u tebow lovers are finally eating crow. its about time :)

orton has too much experience than brady and brady much more than tim.tim would make a good power back with his strength.give tim a running start in the back position he would run over some one.

  • Troyn

Really, are you that dumb, or just play that dumb on blogs?  I am a long time Bronco fan and was never a fan of TT in college, in fact I am a ND fan and loved Brady in college.  TT works harder than anyone, so questioning his work ethic is idiotic or ignorant.  Also, from watching games they have played at the pro level, TT brings more to the table in terms of what it takes to win football games and get this team to the next level than either Brady or Kyle.  The underwear comment is obviously born of ignorance or hate.  Go Broncos, no matter who the QB.

  • King

How so?  Orton scored one passing touchdown in a pre-season game and he is now a hero?  Not to mention a sack that he should've either scrambled or thrown away on.  For pete's sake the man is playing with the first team against the Bills and he still could only score one passing touchdown in 2 quarters.

Talk to me again when we are 5 or 6 games into the season.

The Orton faithful will be no more.  lol.

  • ColonelTom

What most of you seem to be missing is what Tebow was supposed to be doing versus what he did.  In the preseason it's not if you win or if you score touchdowns, etc., it's how many mistakes you made, did you make the right reads, did you execute the play properly.  From what I understand, Tebow has not been executing the plays properly, yes, it looks good in the preseason but it's what gets you killed in the regular season when the games count.  Tebow needs to understand you can ad lib too much in the pros- you can be a one man show in college but it doesn't work in the NFL.  The coaches want Tebow to learn the play with the rest of the team and to stop thinking “Tebow” all the time (I don't think he does it to show off, he does it because he has always has…and that is the problem).  Tebow needs to understand he has a team full of college stars (most college players don't make it in the pros) and he has to trust to their combined talents to win.

  • Wadezombie

LOL!!! he is pretending to be still in football.

  • Wadezombie

It starts all the way at the top, like picking Fox was better than getting TT,  Orton always looks great at practice and camp, great pick too?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3L2H5PDEKGIMHVWIO3A3LQCVSE Adam

Nice take on Tebow.  I couldn't agree with you more on him not being able to help being “Tebow”, but he's on his way out of the NFL.  Guess it's time to find someone else to hate.  http://kcsportsninja.com/?p=17… is my take on Tebow

  • Wadezombie

yeah right, Tebow, didn't play with the rest of his team in college and was a one man championship?  John Elway looked like crap when he went in to the nfl, it took him awhile too.   Give Tebow the chance to grow up like Elway was given the chance.  He has brought many more fans to a loosing team, they need new fans.

  • Wadezombie

have you been cryin?  Fox is two steps backwards.

  • jdkchem

I wasn't referring to Orton retard.  As the post in question is about Quinn perhaps that is who I was referring to when I made the comment on working to be a better player.  Notice also I never mentioned the word “great”, I said better which is not the same thing.  You might consider going back to eighth grade reading.

  • jdkchem

Really, are that blind?  The results so far are pretty obvious.  So far what has your object of man love brought to the table?  One win in a lost season and this season underwear and energy drink commercials.  Furthermore like the idiot who preceded you I said nothing regarding work ethic.  We just happened to see what your object of man love chose to work on.

  • jdkchem

In Elway's 2nd year as a pro he was in the playoffs with a 12-2 record.  Are you really trying to say that in his second year TT is as good as Elway?

  • Troyn

The “object of man love” comment is ridiculous.  I want the QB that gives us the best shot to get back to the playoffs and SB.  It is not Orton, I don't think it is Quinn.  TT has a particular skill set that sets him apart from the other's.  He can make plays when things break down, that's what great QB's do and what Orton and Quinn have shown no ability to do.  Like I said I was never a Tebow fan until I saw him play last year. I'll root for whoever is playing, just believe he is the best option we have for the future.

  • Lmax001

TT sucks. You people need to get off this Bromance you have with guy. He's not that good.  He wasn't that good in college. So what he's religious and a good guy there tons of guys like that.

    2× SEC Championship (2006, 2008) 2× BCS National Championship (2007, 2009) 2× First-team All-American (2007, 2008) 1× Second-team All-American (2009) 3× First-team All-SEC (2007, 2008, 2009) AP Player of the Year (2007) Davey O'Brien Award (2007) 2× Maxwell Award (2007, 2008) Heisman Trophy (2007) NCAA QB of the Year (2007) Manning Award (2008) William V. Campbell Trophy (2009)
This seems to be pretty good in college.

  • King

Lighten up Francis.  There's a reason why Quinn was never a starter.  Tebow actually made the game against the Chargers close.  Quinn would've been at the 50 yard line in the fetal position against there defense the way they were roughing up Tebow.

  • Not a broncos fan.

I love this argument, because college success = pro success all of the time.  Hell, look at the great guys like Andre Ware, Brian Bosworth, Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith, Jason White, Rashaan Salaam, Gino Torretta, and so on.

When will people learn that what he did in college means absolutely DICK in the NFL.  Yes, he had success there, but here's what matters.

FACT:  He played in a one-read system that was a glorified single-wing offense.

FACT:  After his one read, he ran the ball.  Every time.

FACT:  His mechanics are awful and he has reverted back to what he does in college.  His “transformation” was short-term just to be drafted higher.

FACT:  His accuracy is terrible, which is a by-product of his mechanics.

Continue to be a blind supporter of this guy.  Can he turn it around and prove people wrong?  Possible, but the smart money is betting that he doesn't.  You don't learn how to read defenses overnight, and from what I've been reading and hearing, it's that he's still having problems under center and with the playbook.  Heck, even PFT said that Adam Weber has looked better than him.

You can make the excuses all you want about how guys who perform well in training camp doesn't mean it will be the same in the regular season, but the fact remains that if someone knows the playbook, knows the reads, and actually puts the ball where it needs to be, those people will play.

    Kyle Orton does this.

    Tim Tebow does not.

  • reality bites

Michael Vick had problems throwing probles too, and now he is becoming great.  It is real easy to throw people you are jealous of under the bus.  The fact remains, Tebow is a winner, and I think Orton has a 5% chance of being the one.   In all reality, Fox has maybe a 1% chance.

  • realitybites

I guess you will never know, about Tebows second year, as he has not been given the chance to lead the team to that record.

  • LarryB

And I guess that, while pointing to Orton's 3-10 record last year, some people do not remember (or weren't alive at that time) when Elway went 5-11 in 1990. If we are going to do comparisons to Elway, we might as well go all the way, right?

  • LarryB

Good for you. Rooting against the failure of a Broncos quarterback.

Now back to the real Broncos fans . . .

  • LarryB

Let me help you with a little NFL history, since you seem clueless. Fox already has been one, as in Super Bowl. Orton has already been one, as in only one season in his NFL career not being a winning one.

Only Tebow has not yet been a winner in the NFL. So the jury is out only on him . . .
