To help them select the Madden NFL 13 cover player, EA Sports is turning to the fans. Â EA will select two players to represent each team in a vote-off which will lead to the final thirty-two man bracket.
Once the voting is down to thirty-two players, fans will vote in player face-offs until the Madden NFL 13 cover player is chosen. Â Voting begins on March 7th on SportsNation’s Facebook page.
EA’s Madden Facebook page announced on Tuesday that quarterback Tim Tebow and linebacker Von Miller will be the two players representing the Denver Broncos in the voting. Since 2001, the Broncos have never had one of their players grace the cover of the popular video game.
Before the Super Bowl, Tebow won Madden Bowl XVIII and he was the cover of EA’s NCAA 11 two years ago. With Tebow’s massive following, there is a good chance that he could receive enough votes to become the next Madden cover boy.
Then again, Tebow fans might think twice before voting for him. In fear of the Madden Curse, many Gator and Bronco fans have encouraged fellow fans to not vote for Tebow or Miller. Click here to read the rest of this entry »
NFL teams will be free to begin singing unrestricted free agents on Tuesday, March 13th starting at 4 (p.m.). The Denver Broncos may be signing several players during the free agency period, including a safety.
The Denver Post’s Mike Klis reports that the team is looking for a thumper, and suggests former Patriots’ safety Brandon Meriweather as a possible free agent prospect for Denver. Two other safeties that Klis suggested were San Francisco’s Dashon Goldson and Jacksonville’s Dwight Lowery.
Meanwhile, defensive tackle remains one of the Broncos’ biggest needs. Like last off-season, Denver may bring in several tackles to compete in training camp. ESPN‘s Bill Williamson says the word at the combine was that Cincinnati free-agent Jonathan Fanene could fit in with the Broncos.
A versatile 4-3 defensive lineman, Fanene can play both defensive end and defensive tackle. Last season with the Bengals, Fanene recorded 24 tackles and 6.5 sacks.
What would you think of either of these players coming to Denver? View five defensive free agents I think Denver should target right here.

The 2012 NFL season-opener has been scheduled to be played on Wednesday, September 5th. Â The game will mark the first Wednesday night game since the 1948 season.
The defending Super Bowl-champion New York Giants will host the game. Their opponent will be announced when the regular season schedule is announced. The game, which is traditionally played on the first Thursday of the month, was moved back to Wednesday so as to not interfere with President Barack Obama’s Thursday night speech at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.
The game will be broadcast on NBC and kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. (ET).

Former Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III, a top 2012 NFL Draft prospect, saw his ratings go through the roof after an impressive Combine performance which featured a 4.41 forty-yard-dash time.
Considered the second-best quarterback in the draft (behind Stanford’s Andrew Luck), Griffin won the Heisman Trophy earlier in the year and has been the hottest prospect of this year’s draft class.
With Luck expected to go to the Colts first overall however, there is a mystery as to who will select Griffin second overall. The St. Louis Rams hold the second overall selection, but already have third-year quarterback Sam Bradford and are looking to trade down the draft board.
There has been a lot of speculation as to who will trade up to draft Griffin, and one columnist, Fox Sports‘ John Czarnecki, could see the Denver Broncos as the team to watch.

With the NFL Combine now over, the draft speculations, Mock Drafts, player interviews and workouts will be in full swing. The Denver Broncos are reportedly interested in selecting a quarterback in the draft, a lot higher than many would expect.

ESPN’s Peter King speculates that Denver will select a quarterback in the first two rounds of the draft. While that is just King’s opinion, the Broncos did come away from an interview with Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden “extremely impressed,” according to the Denver Posts’ Mike Klis.
The only downside to Weeden is the fact that he will be turning twenty-nine years old this October. If not for his age, Weeden would probably be considered the third best quarterback in the draft. Click here to read the rest of this entry »

Despite Mike Klis’ report that Brian Dawkins is “expected to retire,†it appears that Dawkins would like to return in 2012. Per Ray Didinger of CSNPhilly.com, Dawkins wants to play a seventeenth season in the NFL.
Brian Dawkins is not yet ready to call it a career.
Despite missing all or parts of five games last season with a neck injury, Dawkins says he feels good now and hopes to return for another season with the Denver Broncos.
Interestingly, Dawkins said that the ball is in the Broncos’ court. If the team does not release him, he will return. If Denver parts ways with the 38-year-old safety, Dawkins will not re-sign with another team, not even the Philadelphia Eagles.
