The NFL finalized the 2012 draft order on Monday, and the Denver Broncos own seven selections. Yes, seven, not eight.
Here’s a look at the team’s seven selections:
Pick 1: 1st round — 25th overall. (Own selection)
Pick 2: 2nd round — 57th overall. (Own selection)
Pick 3: 3rd round — 87th overall. (Own selection)
Pick 4: 4th round — 108th overall. (Via Jets/Tebow trade)
Pick 5: 4th round — 120th overall. (Own selection)
Pick 6:Â 5th round — 137th overall. (Via Rams/Brandon Lloyd trade)
Pick 7: 6th round — 188th overall. (Via Jets/Tebow trade)
There has been some confusion as to how many picks Denver currently owns, but the team has confirmed they own seven picks. The Broncos original fifth round pick was traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2010 in a trade that sent quarterback Brady Quinn to Denver and running back Peyton Hillis to the Browns.
During the same off-season of the Quinn trade, the team’s sixth round pick was sent to Philadelphia in a trade that sent linebacker Joe Mays to Denver and running back J.J. Arrington to the Eagles. Denver’s seventh round pick was sent to the Jets last week with quarterback Tim Tebow in a trade that sent two draft selections to the Broncos.
The 2012 NFL Draft will start the evening of Thursday, April 26th and run through the weekend (1st round on Thursday, 2-3rd rounds on Friday and rounds 4-7 on Saturday). If the team acquires or trades away any more picks before the draft, we will update this page.
