The Denver Broncos on Monday agreed to trade veteran wide receiver Brandon Lloyd to the St. Louis Rams for a conditional selection in the 2012 NFL Draft.  Denver’s Executive Vice President of Football Operations, John Elway, announced the move via twitter on Monday afternoon.

“We appreciate all the hard work that Brandon did during his three years in Denver and wish him the best with the Rams,” tweeted Elway.

The Rams offensive coordinator is former Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels.  Under McDaniels in 2010, Lloyd had his most productive season, so the move makes sense.  The conditional pick is reportedly a sixth rounder that could turn into a fifth round selection, depending on Lloyd’s productivity in St. Louis.

We’ll have more of this story later this evening.  For now, dish out your thoughts on the trade in the comments.

Come on Jim, you can do better than that.

The way the rams keep playing it will be a high fifth round pick. Just keep counting the receptions to 30.

    Strawdog
True, but that was after two horrendous years with the Raiders, not a pro-bowl year.

    Zzzzzzzz…

McBean was signed to the PS by Mike Shanahan in 2008.

Do you feel the same now that you’ve seen the Carson Palmer trade?

Denver got fleeced. The Broncos got rid of a key player for a compensatory pick. You can’t trade a receiver like Lloyd for anything less than a 3rd.

    AMEN!

because it would be a 2013 compensatory pick… not next year.  it would also have no chance to be moved up to a fifth.  it is also untradeable.

compensatory picks come at the end of the round.  st louis will be picking very near the top of the draft.  if we end up getting the fifth, there will still be very good talent available in that slot.  probably much better than what would be available right before the 7th round in 2013.

Not pinning McBean to McDuff, just a general McReference to another McDweeb!
