UPDATE: The deal hit a snag, but after a wild eight hours, has been finalized. Tim Tebow is indeed a New York Jet.

Tim Tebow is no longer a Denver Bronco.

The Denver Broncos have traded third-year quarterback Tim Tebow to the New York Jets following the Broncos’ signing of Peyton Manning this week. The Jets traded fourth and sixth round draft picks to the Broncos in exchange for Tebow and a seventh round draft pick.

In 2010, former Head Coach Josh McDaniels traded a 2nd, 3rd and 4th round pick to the Baltimore Ravens to move up and draft Tebow, today the team got 4th and 6th round picks in exchange for the polarizing quarterback.  The Jets, who recently extended quarterback Mark Sanchez‘s contract, better know what they are in for by acquiring not only Tebow, but Tebowmania, also.

Tebowmania drove Kyle Orton out of town and in part, caused the Broncos to move on from Tebow.  It’s not yet known what plans the Jets have for Tebow, but anything less than the starting job may not be well-received by JetGators (formerly known as BroncoGators — “Bronco fans” who were really Tebow fans).

Before anybody says they got ripped off for only getting a fourth (and late) round picks, don’t.  I wrote about a week ago that the team probably wouldn’t trade Tebow because teams wouldn’t be willing to give up more than a fourth round pick, but the Broncos had other plans.  Denver could not have gotten more for Tebow because teams overvalue draft selections.

We at BT wish Tebow nothing but the best with his new team.  Thanks for the memories, Tim!

Are you happy with the Tim Tebow trade?

Extremely disappointed that no consideration was given to Tebow as a backup to Manning. Mannig was the perfect person for Tebow to learn from. Now we get to go get some piece of crap second rate vetran that will cost more thatn Tebow would have at 1.5 million. Stupid decision by the management. Apparently managent learned nothing about what happens when a subpar back up -backs up Peyton from the deplorable season the colts had last year.

Ha!  He’s going to love Rex Ryan.

/slaps Tebow on the ass HARD.

I have said since Sanchez was drafted that he was no good. They finally upgraded. haha.
But in reality, I’m kinda in shock over this. I wonder how he’s gonna fit in? And, when Sanchez struggles, cause we all know he will, will Rex put in Tebow? They just spent a lot of money on Sanchez, but now the NY fan base can get divided. Time to have the Denver fan base start the healing process.

Wow for once I actually agree with Merril Hoge. Did I just say that?? This is a horrendous move.  With a young quarterback that was terrible this year why would you make this move.  I understand they have locker room issues, but they are about to have full blown organizational issues.  When Mark Sanchez has one of those games that he is prone to having they will be calling for Tebow Tebow! Mark my words.  Distaster!!!!!!

  • CJ

John Elway didnt lie when he said he would put him where he could compete for a qb job

While I wish we could have gotten a little bit more at least the extra picks will come in handy should we need to trade up at all. The Jets are in for a rude awakening when they see the shit show that Tebowmania creates.

  • Dakota Fan

Sure, disaster for the Jets. What the hell do we care???

As Rick Reilly put on Twitter, the new Rex Ryan: “Let’s go eat a golly darn snack!”

  • http://broncotalk.net Monty

Jets’ extension of Mark Sanchez was plain idiotic. Tebow’s numbers are comparable and his work ethic is greater. I hope TT gets a real shot there.

Is Rex Ryan the one who has naked women in his play book? That should be fun

  • Dunk77

Manning and Tebow are COMPLETELY different players.  Might be able to teach him to read a defence but defensive setup for Manning completely different than Tebow.  This comes down to taking away all distractions.  If Manning had one bad game, the Teboi’s would be screaming at management to start him.  Bring in Caleb Hanie to learn from Manning and we’ll be in a good position.

Whoa…the Saints are getting completely butt raped over the bounties.

Payton and Gregg Williams are getting one year suspensions.  The GM is getting an eight game suspension (how the hell do you suspend a GM?), Joe Vitt gets six games.
Oh, and a $500K fine and loss of second round picks this year and next.

That’s insane.  I hope the Saints sue.

Haha. Rex also is fascinated by the way Tebow uses his feet when he plays.

  • Dunk77

Amen to that!  No more worrying about a QB that struggles to complete a pass.  I’m as giddy as a teenager at a Bieber concert.

  • http://Facebook.com/BroncosZone Jon

It is way overkill. The NFL is trying to send a message (coming in loud and clear, Commish, you have too much power).

  • Anonymous

I was wondering the same thing, how do you suspend a GM?

  • CJ

I think this needed to be done. To long has the commish slapped people and the hand and let them go.

  • ronster

    and so the mania starts

  • colorancher

Foot Fetish!!! They will work on his foot work!

  • kerrry

yeah somebody got ripped off. their names are the New York Jets. im surprised we got even a 6th let alone a 4th also for Tebow. think about it, Tebow isnt gonna have a snow balls chance in hell of starting unless Sanchez pulls a Kyle Orton. so we got two picks, a mid and a late for a project QB who will be in on gimmick plays and goal line situations. so basically 5-7 plays a game. yeah the Jets got bent over the saw horse on this one. glory days.

now if we can just fix that little problem we call a run defense…………..

  • colorancher

Maybe Tracy Porter will stay here now.. Think he’s coming today!

  • Anonymous

    Haha.  No kidding right?

  • Anonymous

Damn!  I was surprised to see this as well.  I knew they prob wouldn’t go after the players, but damn they sure did hammer the coaches and gm.  I think the punishment was way to extreme.    Glad it isn’t the Broncs.

  • Anonymous

I am sad to see him go.  I would liked to of kept him as a backup, but hey what can you do.  I hope he does well in NY.  Can’t wait for the season to start.  Is it Sept yet?   Welcome Peyton and go Broncos!!!!

  • kerrry

there was no way that Manning was goona waste his time trying to teach a guy who cant adjust on his own. MAnning wants to win now and that doesnt curtail teaching a gimmick player how to become a QB. MAnning wasnt gonna have time to teach Tebow how to throw a ball properly or read a defense. how much do you think Jim Sorgi was taught by Manning? here is a hint……Sorgi couldnt get a starting job to save his life and he sat behind Manning for years.

and speaking of Subpar, Tebow is as sub-par as they come. Tebow would die trying to run a Peyton Manning type offense. you know the offense where you dont need the spread option zone read. you know a Pro-style offense where the big boys thrive and the gimmicks die.

but one more thing. lets look at the WHOLE picture here. the Colts were so terrible, not because they had no backup but because Manning went down. Manning MADE that team what they were. there was NOBODY that was gonna elevate that team to even 8-8 without Manning. thats how good Manning is and how bad the team was. the best backup in the league wasnt gonna carry those bums. face it we have a better QB now and the gimmick/sideshow is heading East. dont like it, buy a Jets Jersey.

  • Broncmanc

Now Tebow can make an appearance on saturday night live.

No.  The man is a power-mad megalomaniac. This is a totally insane ruling.

  • Anonymous

With those godless, New York, elitist leftists?   Not likely.

He he…this is going to be so much fun.

  • Anonymous

Tebow, our 7th, and his millions….and millllllions of fans for their 4th and 6th.  Thank you New York!

  • Anonymous

Thats why they’re the J-E-T-S jets!

  • Broncos4ever

Thanks for everything, Tim. All true Bronco fans wish you the best.
That being said, we’re not gonna miss the circus. (we know it wasn’t your fault)
Prepare the mass exodus of Tebots.
Don’t let the door hit ya where the lord split ya!

The team getting butt raped over this is the Rams.  The saints are getting better than they deserve.

    Has anyone seen virginiajet?

I feel bad that Tebow has to go work for that loud mouth of a HC. They couldn’t be any more different personality types.

Thanks for the run Teebs and kicking the Jets ass last year. You’re a better QB than Sanchez so good luck in camp!

  • MJJJ

Elway reallyu did it to TT. Pressures on and cant wait for broncos fans to boo paytan when he loses in the playoffs or does not get to the playoffs. Boo really loud so you can drown out tv announcers
    cant wait

  • youhoo

Haha, welcome Hanie, another good ole dropback pocket passer! guess good ole broncos can rejoin the legion of 8-8 teams missing the playoffs year after year after year…whew, sure am glad the jets are the the laughing stocks of the league now..hahha to them

  • areferee

I would have chosen BOTH No answers, if it was possible.  They should have kept Tebow and they did not receive commensurate value.

Sending Tebow to the hell-hole that is Rex Ryan’s Big little Apple is doing him no great favor.  Tebow is man enough to make the best of it, but we tarnished a man’s career that only elevated our organization in every possible way while he was here.

I, too, hope that Tim Tebow has a successful career in the NFL as a quarterback, but he is at the mercy of a coach and an organization that spits people out like bare feet!

For John Elway this week:  Plus 1 – Minus 1

    Do the math!

  • kerrry

Elway wasnt trying to do Tebow any favors. he wanted him out, wanted the circus out and wanted to move on. reagardless of what anyone thinks, Elway didnt owe Tebow anything. didnt owe him a trip anywhere else but to where Elway would get the most compensation. that happened to be New York. Elway wasnt gonna take less to ship Tebow to Florida just because thats where Tebow wanted to go. only McDaniels does stuff like that.

  • King

I agree.  Paying people money to INTENTIONALLY injure someone is wrong.

    This is football, not UFC.

  • King

No one here is surprised that you feel that way, herc.  lmao

  • Anonymous

Aww, poor guy.  I guess you’re sad your boyfriend is gone, huh?

  • yohoo

stupid is as stupid you are

  • King

Nope, much to your chagrin.  :)

  • Hrjoel3

Today Manning is the best QB. NFL is a business. Character is not required to be in the NFL. However, some individuals have integrity as Tebow and others.
Tebow is better with the Jests than in Denver with someone who goes with the flow of the fans who pay for the tickets and all that football stuff as shirts etc. No fans no money. The Romans learned that with there entertainment for the citizens in the big ring with life fighters to the death.
Now feed Manning to see what he can do. Manning is an excellent QB and was great at Tenn. Manning can shine in Denver as well.

  • Steveclobridge

manning will get his neck snapped and the broncos will be out 95 million and no quarterback. the guy has not played in 2 years. elway is an idiot

  • areferee

(how the hell do you suspend a GM?)…

    From the crossbar, I imagine!
