On Monday, Denver Broncos second-year linebacker Von Miller appeared on the Jim Rome show. Â Among the topics discussed were Miller’s glasses.
Rome noted that many athletes, particularly NBA players, have been rocking “specs” lately and asked Miller if he thinks the trend was started by the 2011 Defensive Rookie of the Year. Â Miller responded, “There were guys that had the glasses look before me, but in my opinion, I think I took it to another level.”
“It’s not just my look,” he said, “but it’s a swag that only a few can embrace.”
We asked fans on our Facebook page in a poll Wednesday to rank Miller’s swag on a skill of 1-to-10 (with ten being the highest).  The result, visualized through our Manning Mustache Meter below, was an 8.5 rating (at the time this article was published).

Manning Mustache Meter: 8.5 out of 10
Miller’s performance on the field last season was phenomenal.  His swag off the field is unparalleled.  He’s a swagtastic dude.

Disgruntled Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin has requested a trade, according to reports. Â Minnesota is not expected to agree and trade the fourth-year player because they are in “no position to make a deal” with a thin receiving corps.
It is unclear why Harvin is unhappy with his current situation — he suffered some migraines in 2010 and is due to make less than $3 million over the final two years of his contract, which may be contributing factors to his request.
The obvious question we ask is, should the Broncos pursue him, and will they? Â When Chad Johnson became available two weeks ago, we noted Denver’s lack of need at the wide receiver position and suggested that the team would pass on him. While Denver still has a lot of talented receivers, Harvin is a younger, different player.

Del Rio Calls Broncos’ DC Turnaround ‘Unusual’ | CBS Denver
Coaching turnover happens in every sport, especially in the NFL. But there’s something to be said for cohesion as head coaches probably would like their staff to be intact for a few years. That hasn’t been the case for the Denver Broncos as Jack Del Rio has become the seventh defensive coordinator in seven years.

There won’t be any new highlights of LaDainian Tomlinson running past a slew of Denver Broncos defenders into the end zone. There are enough of those as is; Tomlinson made a career out of them.
The notorious Bronco-killer announced his retirement today, ending his career ceremoniously as a member of the San Diego Chargers.
After 13,684 rushing yards, 145 rushing touchdowns, 18,456 all-purpose yards, and 11 seasons as one of the NFL’s all-time best at his position, San Diego Chargers and New York Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson called it a career is a dignified press conference. The announcement was hosted by the Chargers, who wanted Tomlinson to retire as a Charger despite the fact that he had left the team in free agency and played his last two seasons for the Jets.
Peter King says L.T. is a shoo-in for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Now that he’s a Charger again (and forever), better he run toward that goal than another Broncos end zone.

Analyzing Tomlinson’s career, Saints’ appeal, Banks’ comeback | Peter King
Much news for what’s normally a sleepy Monday in June — bounty appeals today in New York, for instance — but let’s start the last Monday column before I take my summer break with some numbers from the amazing career of LaDainian Tomlinson, who will announce his retirement today in San Diego.

The line was long and lengthening. Many of the people waiting weren’t born when the men signing autographs at the downtown Longmont Broncos Country Caravan stop wore orange uniforms. So there was time for the adults to explain and tell stories.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there in Broncos Country.  With a large chunk of Western land uninhabited by any NFL teams, Broncos Country extends a lot farther than you might think, so that’s wishing a happy day to a lot of fathers.
In fact, Broncos Country (or Nation, depending on who you ask) extends beyond the state of Colorado and even the United States. Â This site alone hosts readers from Brazil, the United Kingdom and Australia.
“I’m a British Broncos fan and the only game that I’ve been to at Mile High was with my dad (along with the rest of my family and in-laws) when all of my family and I flew out to Colorado to spend Christmas 2009 with my wife’s parents,” Chris Sergeant wrote on our Facebook page.

The Denver Broncos are scheduled to appear on Sunday Night Football twice in 2012, with the possibility of a third appearance after Week 11 due to the NFL’s flex scheduling.  With five prime-times games, the Broncos will be buzzed about this season, and NBC may try to capitalize on that.
Each year, country music singer Faith Hill opens NBC’s production with “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” an intro lasting about two minutes which features Hill and notable NFL players.  The 2011 intro featured fifteen different players, with the New Orleans Saints being best-representing with three players (Drew Brees, Jonathan Vilman and Will Smith).  The Dallas Cowboys were the only other team to be represented by multiple players (Tony Romo and DeMarcus Ware).

In eighty-five days, the Denver Broncos will kickoff their 2012 season on Sunday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers on September, 9th. Because we love our readers so much, we put together this handy-dandy countdown widget for you to check daily.
(Actually, Kyle went camping and asked the staff to have some content on the blog over the weekend and this is me attempting to honor his request.)
In all seriousness, we are extremely excited about the upcoming season and are eagerly anticipating the start of training camp later this summer. Â In the meantime, we’ll keep you covered throughout the boring non-football weeks of summer with a Best Hits and Speak Up series.
Is it September 9th yet? Â Nope, eighty-five days, three hours, twenty-two minutes and…
We noted yesterday that disgruntled Broncos kicker Matt Prater would likely show up by July 26th. Today, we learned that Prater will have to sign by July 16th.
Prater skipped all of the team’s offseason OTAs and minicamp practice sessions in protest of the one-year $2.654 million franchise tag the team placed on him earlier in the year.
Reportedly, Prater and the Broncos have been negotiating a five-year contract during Prater’s holdout and they’re “not far apart” in reaching a deal, according to The Denver Post‘s Mike Klis.
“Prater and the Broncos have until July 16 to reach an agreement on a multi-year deal. Absent a long-term deal by July 16, Prater would have to play the 2012 season on the $2.654 million franchise tag.”
