"You see a lot of guys at the end congratulating me for tackling this dude just for hustling, but that's what we all should be doing anyway. For me, that's the way I play football."
Detailing the woes of the Broncos secondary. Note to editor: Yeah, we already fired Jim Bates. [Real Football 365]
Looking at the AFC West, and Shanahan being under pressure to make the playoffs. Again, an article from someone who wasn’t paying attention. Jay Cutler‘s struggles were few and far between, and the least of our worries. And since when do we only have $1 million in cap space?! I’ll do more research, but everything I’ve heard before this article tell me we should have much more. [Fox Sports]
A resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives honoring the Giants as Super Bowl champs passed 412-1. Which begs the question: who was the 1? [The Legend of Cecilio Guante]

The Denver Broncos made several roster moves Tuesday, Head Coach Mike Shanahan announced. Headlining the moves was the transition of veteran Matt Lepsis from the active roster to the team’s Reserve/Retired list.
Lepsis started all 16 games for the Broncos in 2007, one year removed from his season-ending ACL tear in 2006. In 11 years with the Broncos, Lepsis started 133 games at both left and right tackle.
The Broncos also waived WR Carlton Brewster, whom they had signed to their practice squad on October 4, 2007. Lepsis’ and Brewster’s roster spots were filled by two linebackers – Brandon Archer and William Kershaw.
Archer (6-foot-0, 239 pounds) is a second-year linebacker who enters his first season with the Broncos after totaling 10 defensive tackles (8 solo) and four special-teams stops in six regular-season games as a rookie with the Colts in 2007. He entered the NFL with Indianapolis on May 7 as a college free agent from Kansas State University and had stints on the Vikings and Colts’ practice squads before he was signed to Indianapolis’ active roster late in the year.
At Kansas State, Archer was a first-team All-Big 12 Conference selection (Associated Press) as a senior and finished his career with 268 tackles in 50 games (34 starts). His three career interceptions returned for touchdowns tied a school record.
As reported in the ol’ Rumor Mill yesterday, Al Wilsonis indeed meeting with the Lions today. RMN reports (see link below) that Wilson will also undergo a physical to determine if there are any lingering effects from his neck injury. [Denver Post]
Add DE John Engelberger to the list of unrestricted Broncos free agents. He hit enough incentives to void the 2008 portion of his contract. Renegotiations are already underway. [Rocky Mountain News]
I can’t find a confirmation of this anywhere (this is one of those examples of “triple hearsay”) – but a fellow fan said they heard a local Denver station talk about Adam Schefter reporting that Javon Walker will be released before March 1st. Again, no confirmation yet, nothing on Total Access or NFL.com, but I’m keeping my eyes and ears open. [Orange Mane]
EA Games and the NFL reached a 3-year extension of their exclusivity contract. Sorry, NFL 2K fans (including myself) – it’s only Madden franchise games through 2012 now. [GameTap]
Former Broncos All Pro linebacker Al Wilson has reportedly been spotted in Detroit this week. Speculation is that Wilson may be preparing to talk to the Lions front office about a possible contract. [Source: PFT Rumor Mill].
Wilson was cleared to play football last month after spending 2007 out of the league while rehabbing from a neck injury he suffered in 2006.
Wilson is a free agent now, making him available to sign with any team at any time.
While Mike Florio is hardly Mr. Reliable, it’s the latest sign that Wilson’s next days playing football may be elsewhere. We’ll keep you posted.

After months on Injured Reserve and never seeing the playing field with his new team, Warrick Holdman was released by the Broncos on Monday.
Holdman looked like a promising fit at strong side linebacker before the injury ended his season. He suffered a spinal cord injury on August 2, 2007, costing him the rest of his season. Holdman joined the Broncos in free agency in 2007, his ninth year in the NFL.
WR Derrick Hamilton replaces Holdman on the Broncos roster.
Hamilton (6-foot-4, 207 pounds) is a third-year player who enters his first season with the Broncos after seeing time on the practice squads of Houston and Tampa Bay in 2007. Selected by San Francisco in the third round (77th overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft from Clemson University, Hamilton was with the 49ers for his first two professional seasons before spending the 2006 campaign out of the NFL.
The 26-year-old has appeared in two regular-season games for his career, seeing time with the 49ers as a rookie during their final two contests of the 2004 season.
After Atlanta waived him on June 12, Hamilton spent the first part of the 2007 season out of the NFL before signing with Tampa Bay’s practice squad on Oct. 23. He was with the Buccaneers for one week and finished the year on Houston’s practice squad after signing with the Texans on Nov. 21.
Hamilton was out of the NFL in 2006 after reaching an injury settlement with the 49ers on Aug. 10, 2006. Following a rookie season with San Francisco in 2004 during which he played two games, he spent the entire 2005 campaign on the 49ers’ physically unable to perform list with a knee injury.
In 38 games (27 starts) at Clemson University, Hamilton set a school record with 4,839 career all-purpose yards. He also finished his collegiate career ranked first in Clemson annals in receptions (167) and fourth in receiving yards (2,312) with adding 16 touchdown grabs.
A SuperPrep All-American at Dillon High School in Dillon, S.C., Hamilton was born on Nov. 30, 1981.
Not much to say, really. Everyone knew Holdman was likely on his way out. Hamilton could be a nice fit.

IMAGINE THIS: The Broncos are down by 6 points… there’s only 1:32 left in the fourth quarter… we have the ball on our own 5 yardline…. Jay Cutler steps out onto the field to try a last minute 95 yard drive to win the game…
When this scenario plays out, what do you reach for to tip the scales of luck to our side? Do you have a favorite Bronco hat, shirt or stuffed Miles doll? Do you wear your good luck undies or sit in your good luck chair? Do you have a voodoo dance or magic chant that you must do in order to persuade the Gods to provide their divine favor?
Basically…
What is your good luck charm or routine?
