When Brandon Marshall was suspended earlier this week, it came to me as a bit of a relief. Like the most annoying guy at a party just got had to leave. So that’s one good thing, there are several good things about tonight though. Amongst them is that Jay Cutler will be returning to Denver (booh!), and for maybe the first time in… Well, ever, a preseason game will have meaning on many levels.

It’s not Christmas just yet, but it is important to be grateful and appreciative of what we have (or may not have, just yet).

The Broncos‘ biggest free agent signing of the offseason will finally be making his team debut tonight, and it couldn’t happen at a better time. The Broncos will be christening 2009’s INVESCO to what is sure to be a fired-up crowd, and as the fans “welcome” Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears, they’ll be welcoming their revamped secondary as well.

All Pro safety Brian Dawkins gets the start at free safety, arm cast and all.

“If I couldn’t (play), I wouldn’t,” Dawkins told the Denver Post. “Everything is where it needs to be for me to go out there and play. I know I’m going to be juiced up. I know you guys haven’t had a chance to see me on game day. I know I’m going to be jacked up for this one.”

Word on the tweet is, Dawkins is getting the other guys fired up as well. Click here to read the rest of this entry »

Marshall

Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall has been suspended for, “Conduct detrimental to the team.”

Adam Schefter is reporting via his twitter account that Marshall’s suspension will be for the remainder of the preseason and he may be available for the season opener.

The maximum suspension time allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement is four games. Marshall will not be able to appeal through the NFL, however, he would be able to appeal through a third party. As I pointed out in yesterday’s post I believe that Marshall will have a hard time doing this as I have a feeling his lawyer may have ties to the Broncos. (Then again, I could be wrong, I’m not a lawyer).

More details to follow as they become available… Press release and poll after the jump. Click here to read the rest of this entry »

NOTE: Brandon Marshall is appearing on ESPN’s NFL Live to talk about his practice behavior.  10:30 p.m. MST (8/27/09).

Who does this guy think he is? Jay Cutler? Just kidding. Sorry, I’m being hissed at by thousands of fans, I can tell. You’d think just in the sense of team spirit that Brandon Marshall would want to suit up to play his buddy Cutler in those prime time Sunday night lights. Instead, given the opportunity, he’s attempting to outshine Cutler’s return to Denver and the media highlighting that. He’s giving his best effort of being bigger than the game on his own, without even playing.

I’m guessing that by now you’ve seen the footage from TheDenverChannel.com showing Marshall, punching passes instead of catching, walking through running drills and overall just being about as disruptive as possible to practice. Here’s what we’re forgetting and maybe Marshall is as well, no one wants this kid. He’s been on the trading block, ESPN’s John Clayton reported back when Marshall Saga first opened that the Denver Broncos never received anything over a fourth round draft pick offer for the brain dead wide receiver.

Stink List: Pre-Season Week 2
Note: As I mentioned last week, when the regular season starts I will be posting the  Stink List late Sunday or Monday night, during the preseason the deadline I set for myself was Wednesday. I wanted to give the game some time to air out, and also let any other news of pertinence expunge itself into the open. That being said, here I sit on Thursday, having already failed myself. I’ll go ahead and blame waking up early/little sleep or a general “tiredness” on being a day past my self imposed yet self rejected deadline. Everyone is tired these days no? We live in a world where everyone is tired.

“How’s it going?”
“Not bad. Tired.”

How far back in the history of humankind do we have to go to find a well rested consensus? I don’t care when it is, take me there, I’ll deal. Just let me take Direct TV Season Ticket with me in the time machine. Being tired, you stink! Who else made the cut? Read on! Click here to read the rest of this entry »
