Quotes from Josh McDaniels‘ Monday presser after the Denver Broncos23-3 victory over the Oakland Raiders.

HEAD COACH JOSH McDANIELS

Opening statement

“After looking at the film, we had a lot of people play well and execute the way that we hoped to. We played very physical and really were competitive in every phase and every situation. I felt like we won the line of scrimmage for the better part of the day on both sides and really played fast and physical in the kicking game, which is huge for us. We do not want to give up a lot of plays on special teams. That is kind of how (the Raiders) had won a lot of the games that they won in 2008. Our guys did a really nice job of responding to the challenge.”

Good afternoon BT family. I hope today finds everyone well. I hope today finds all of us in a “our team is 3-0 and first in our division and even though, still, no one believes in us, we are 3-0 and poised to have a good game next week at home, where we can possibly become 4-0, and yet still, no one will believe in us, but guess what? Screw em, who cares, LET’S DANCE!” mood. I hope everyone slept well last night. I know I did. Click here to read the rest of this entry »

Ryan Clady

Denver Broncos offensive tackle Ryan Clady has plowed his way into the NFL record books. (Doug Pensinger/Getty Images)

Ryan Clady did it.

He probably wasn’t trying to do it. He probably wasn’t even aware of it. No, it’s much more likely that the 23-year-old Clady saw September 27, 2009 as just another Sunday — another instance of the task at hand, and another job to do.

If he could have towed a lunch pail along with him, he probably would have. “Just doing my job,” Clady probably thought.

On this Sunday, Clady was to face recent Oakland Raiders trade trophy Richard Seymour. Like any other Sunday, Clady rendered the opposing defensive lineman helpless and hopeless. He shut Seymour down, and then shut him up.

In doing so, not only did Clady exorcise the only demon of his young career (a half-sack surrendered to Seymour in 2008), Clady made his mark in the NFL record books. The second-year player is now tied with former Jets tackle Ryan Young for the most games to start an NFL career without giving up a full sack.

That’s 19 straight games of pure domination at his position. Clady has never suffered a misstep from his first snap in the National Football League to Kyle Orton‘s coffin-nailing kneel down late Sunday afternoon.

A Mile High Salute to Ryan Clady, a pleasure to watch, and bearer of the proud tradition of Rocky Mountain linemen for years to come.

BroncoTalk Game Balls

Broncos 23 – Raiders 3
. Nothing is sweeter. Game balls gentlemen, who ya got?!

Brian Dawkins

BRIAN DAWKINS
How good of a player do you have to be to see that the ball came out, is loose, your foot is out of bounds, and you have to get the ball before anyone else AND get your feet in bounds. Do all of this in a split second, pick up the ball and run with it. And while the replay is being looked at by officials? Sit on the sideline and know with absolute confidence that you were 100% perfect. Add this to his leadership, his nose for the ball, his ability to hit. Seriously, do players get any better than Dawkins? – E. Halsey Miles

“From our first meeting I knew [Denver owner Pat] Bowlen made the right decision,” Denver receiver Brandon Stokley said after Sunday’s 23-3 victory in Oakland. “We’re lucky we have him. We’ve all bought into his plan.”

Stokley, of course, is referring to rookie head coach Josh McDaniels, and the 11th-year wide receiver isn’t alone his belief. Every player asked about Denver Broncos‘ head coach responds in near-perfect uniform:

We have someone special in Josh McDaniels.

The Denver Broncos came into their Week 3 match with the Oakland Raiders thinking they were heading into a tough game with an improved division rival.

It wasn’t even close.

Kyle Orton hit Brandon Marshall for an early touchdown, the Broncos defense continued to dominate, and running backs Correll Buckhalter and Knowshon Moreno churned up 198 yards on the ground as Denver rolled over Oakland 23-3.

With the win, the Broncos improve to 3-0 and maintain their first-place position in the AFC West.
