Denver Broncos blog, news and rumors

Knowshon MorenoFor the second time in as many weeks, Denver Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno has been nominated for the Diet Pepsi Rookie of the Week award.

Moreno finished with 14 carries for 65 yards and two catches for 11 yards and a touchdown during Sunday’s 17-10 victory over the Cowboys. Through four games, Moreno leads all NFL rookies in rushing yards (249) and is the only rookie in the league to post a rushing touchdown and a receiving score.

And since Mr. Poise finally isn’t nominated, Moreno actually stands a chance. Go here to vote for Knowshon.

Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable‘s days in Oakland might be numbered. Napa police finished their investigation of Cable’s alleged offseason assault of Raiders assistant Randy Hanson and forwarded the case to the District Attorney’s office.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell indicated earlier that Cable wouldn’t receive special treatment. “This is not getting pushed under the rug.”

There’s a very realistic chance that, the next time the Broncos and Raiders meet, someone else is wearing Cable’s sideline headset. Whatcha gonna do, Tom Cable?

BroncoTalk Game Balls

Broncos 17, Cowboys 10. Game ball time, BT Staff, who ya got?!

Champ BaileyThe general opinion among Broncos fans regarding Champ Bailey had shifted. He had “lost a step.” He was “getting up there in years.” He “wasn’t the same.” I know I’ve been guilty of saying such things during game time over the past few seasons, but Champ silenced his doubters yesterday. Two game-clinching passes defensed? Check. Acrobatic-as-hell red zone interception? Check. Yesterday, #24 reminded the NFL why his side of the field is a permanent “No Throw Zone.” – Kyle Click here to read the rest of this entry »

HEAD COACH JOSH McDANIELS

On if he senses that the Broncos are the most talked about team in the NFL at this time

“No, I don’t. Whether that is the case or not, there are plenty of things that we need to do a lot better than what we did yesterday moving forward. (It was a) very sloppy first half offensively. (We) couldn’t get into any rhythm. Click here to read the rest of this entry »

Basking in our Monday morning elation, I’m not sure how many of you happened upon this gem of an article in the Dallas News that was picked up by ESPN.com.  It’s a postgame interview with Terrence Newman, the Cowboy’s CB that was covering Brandon Marshall when he made the game winning catch that went 50+ yards.  In said article Terrence alleges that BMarsh should’ve been called for offensive pass interference.

“He grabbed my jersey and threw me to the side,” Newman said. “If that wasn’t a hold, I don’t know what is. I tried to grab him back. I figured either way, we were both going to be called for a hold.”

Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury I would like to submit Exhibit A:

Elvis Dumervil

Elvis Dumervil admitted that his transition from defensive end to outside linebacker during the summer left him uneasy.

Consider that uneasiness unjustified.

Dumervil has been unbeatable, unblockable and unstoppable, leading an unbelievable (and unbeaten) Denver Broncos defense to a 4-0 record after the Broncos beat the Dallas Cowboys 17-10 Sunday. He registered two of the Broncos’ five sacks, bringing his season total to eight and tying him with Cincinnati‘s Antwan Odom for the NFL lead.

Perhaps most impressive is the manner in which Dumervil is terrorizing enemy quarterbacks.  Simply put, for offensive linemen, facing Dumervil is like a box of chocolates: you never know what you’re going to get. Click here to read the rest of this entry »
