It has been suggested that the success of the Indianapolis Colts begins and ends with quarterback Peyton Manning.

That doesn’t quite do the other 52 players on the team justice. The Colts, winners of 21 straight regular season games, are a complete football team.

“I said the other day it’s the best complimentary football team in the NFL, and it is,” Josh McDaniels said. “They play to each other. The offense tries to get out front. The defense rushes the passer and creates turnovers to give the ball back to the offense, which scores more points. Then you’re behind by 14 or 21 points, and then if you hand the ball off three times in a row, you get booed.” Click here to read the rest of this entry »

Opening statement

“We placed (T) Ryan Harris on injured reserve. We signed (T) Herb Taylor to the roster. Hopefully, everybody will be out there at practice.”

On placing Harris on injured reserve

“His toe was too injured for him to be able to play without having a procedure. We’re going to take care of that. After that happens, (with) the length of time that he would need to recover from that, it wouldn’t make any sense for us to not make this move at this time on our roster.” Click here to read the rest of this entry »

Indianapolis ColtsRecord: 12-0
Streak: Won 21
Series vs. Denver: Broncos, 11-6
Last time: Colts, 38-20, 2007
The Line: Colts by 7

Who’s hot: You mean besides everyone? The Colts are 12-0, and the whole team is playing well. But we’ll roll with the obvious: QB Peyton Manning. Manning is having a supreme year even by his own lofty standards, averaging over 300 passing yards per game (1st in the NFL). He’s only been sacked 10 times despite dropping back 460 times (that’s one sack every 46 attempts), and he has 25 touchdowns to 11 interceptions on the season. The Denver Broncos made it official Wednesday, placing starting right tackle Ryan Harris on injured reserve while adding free agent tackle Herb Taylor .  Per club policy, terms of Taylor’s deal were not disclosed.

Taylor was a 2007 6th round draft choice for the Kansas City Chiefs, who waived the Texas Christian University product out of training camp in 2009.  Taylor played in 18 career games in two seasons with one start.

AT TCU, Taylor was twice named All-Mountain West (at left tackle as a senior and at right as a junior), and he holds the school’s record for most consecutive starts with 48.  A Houston native, Taylor was born September 22, 1984.

Taylor is expected to add depth at tackle, while T Tyler Polumbus will continue to start in Harris’ place.

Expect T Brandon Gorin and Taylor to battle for active status each week, with Gorin having the obvious edge… The loss of Harris hurts, but Polumbus has been baptized by fire and is playing better.  His first game as “The Guy” will give him his toughest test yet – Colts DE Robert Mathis.
