I have never been so joyous after a Broncos loss.
I realize that statement shouldn’t exist in my brain, but it does. Somehow.
As I stated in the last SL, these next few weeks are meant to be soaked in. A time to reflect and hopefully relax, while enjoying a few (enough) Broncos wins to propel us into the post season.
With that mantra, I sat down at the Broncos bar, ordered a coffee (I still had the shakes from Thursday night…don’t ask), and put on a shit eating grin as Peyton Manning picked the defense apart for 21 straight points. Now that’s what I call happiness.
My table of compadres pounded their fists on the table, moaned exasperated sighs, and sweat out Saturday nights mistakes,. I just smiled that shit eating grin, as the Best QB in football did what he always does, make it look easy.
Then, something incredible happened, McDaniels’ guys started playing. Click here to read the rest of this entry »

Who’s hot: QB J.P. Losman. Life is good for Losman right now. He just won the UFL’s Inaugural Championship Game as starting QB of the Las Vegas Locomotives (“They’re Loco for Losman!”). Then the Oakland Raiders come along and tell Losman they want to pay him to do the same thing they pay JaMarcus Russell to do: pretend to play quarterback in the NFL. Welcome home, J.P. Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry has passed away, ESPN reports, following injuries suffered from a truck accident Wednesday night. Henry was hospitalized overnight after being found on a residential road. He succumbed to his injuries at 6:36 a.m. this morning.
Henry, who was raising three children with his fiancee Loleini Tonga, was 26.
The first thing I did when I woke up this morning was search for news on Henry, only to find the worst. What a senseless and saddening tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Henry’s family, friends, and the entire Bengals community and fans.

HEAD COACH JOSH McDANIELS
On Oakland Head Coach Tom Cable announcing that QB Charlie Frye will start on Sunday
“It’s not going to change our preparation. We’ll get familiar with him this week. I’ve had some familiarity before. He’s played in games, obviously, in this league for a few years. This won’t be his first opportunity (to play). We’ll get to know him over the next four days. We don’t expect their offense to change that dramatically. They’ve got a lot of explosive players (and a) good running game. We’ll prepare like normal.â€
On how to familiarize the Broncos with Frye
“We’ll have all the film of him actually playing in games and all of that stuff available for our players here today. We’ll talk about some of his strengths and weaknesses just like we would any other player.†Click here to read the rest of this entry »

Thanks as always to the Broncos PR department for this portion of the weekly press release. View the full release here (.pdf).
The Denver Broncos (8-5) and Oakland Raiders (4-9) face off for the 99th time in the regular season on Sunday at INVESCO Field at Mile High. Kickoff is set for 2:05 p.m. MST, and the game will be televised on CBS with Gus Johnson and Steve Tasker calling the action.
QUICKLY:
- The Broncos are coming off a 28-16 defeat at Indianapolis, which improved to 13-0 with its win. Denver scored 16 consecutive points and outgained the Colts 272-27 (net yards) during a stretch covering the middle of the second quarter through early in the fourth quarter to trim its deficit to 21-16 late in the game.
- After earning a 23-3 win at Oakland on Sept. 27, the Broncos can sweep their season series with the Raiders for the first time since 2006 and the 15th time in club annals with a victory on Sunday.
- Denver is 15-3 (.833) at home in December since 2000.

The Oakland Raiders aren’t enjoying any type of substantial return on the $60 million investment that is JaMarcus Russell.
Following an injury to QB Bruce Gradkowski, who had already usurped 2007’s top overall draft pick as the Raiders starting quarterback in November, head coach Tom Cable told reporters today that Charlie Frye will start against the Broncos in Week 15.
Frye, who is on his third team in three years, started the season as the Raiders’ third-string quarterback. He saw action in one game (one start) with the Seahawks in 2008, throwing two interceptions and two touchdowns.
That just happens to be the same number of touchdowns Russell threw in nine starts in 2009.
The Russell Era in Oakland is hitting new, Ryan Leaf-level lows. Now the Broncos are tasked with testing the next better-than-Russell signal-caller in Oakland.
If they can intercept Peyton Manning three times, something tells us it will be a long day for Frye.
