The Mile High Salute® was popularized by Ring-of-Famer Terrell Davis during the Broncos glory days, and at the time was one of the most prevalent touchdown celebrations in the NFL. Davis did it in honor of his father who served in the military. The tradition carried on to the present day, with fans and players being saluted to by the likes of Mike Anderson, and more recently Peyton Hillis, among others.
Mike Anderson spent four years in the United States Marine Corps. While in the military, he played for the 11th Marines football team, where he was discovered by an assistant coach from San Jacinto of Mt. Junior College – where Anderson attended before joining the Broncos in 2000. Coming from a Military background, Anderson frequently saluted the fans and his teammates during his Rookie of the Year season, and throughout his Bronco career. In 2005, the Broncos released Anderson, since then only one Bronco running back has rushed for 1,000 yards. Click here to read the rest of this entry »

In what is becoming an annual tradition at Dove Valley, the Denver Broncos announced today that one of their training camp practices will take place at INVESCO Field at Mile High, feature more “live” scrimmage-like drills, and be free to the public.
The semi-scrimmage will take place on Saturday, August 7, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. MT.
“The stadium practice will be a great opportunity for the team and coaches to get re-acclimated with our stadium,†Head Coach Josh McDaniels said. “We’ll get a chance to run through all of the elements of a live game experience, including sideline communication and the setup of the coaches’ booth. It also provides us the opportunity to have an energetic practice in front of our great fans, which always excites the players and the staff in training camp.â€
Last year, 13,402 fans attended the festivities at INVESCO, setting an all-time Broncos practice attendance record.
After the conclusion of practice, Broncos great Floyd Little‘s Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2010 induction speech will be broadcast to fans on the main scoreboards.

It looks like rookie center Eric Olsen has signed his contract according to Rotoworld.com, Olsen will receive: $395,000 in 2010, $480,000 in 2011, and $565,000 in 2012. Though there is no official word from the Denver Broncos as of this moment.
Olsen, the last of the late rounders to sign with the Broncos, was one of the top performers at the bench press, vertical jump and the 3-cone drills at the NFL combine in early April.
Twenty-two year old Olsen stands 6-4, and weighs in at 306 pounds. In 31 college starts Olsen allowed just four sacks, while anchoring the line that protected Jimmy Clausen (now of the Carolina Panthers). J.D. Walton (whom the Broncos drafted in the third round) will likely be competing directly with Olsen for the starting center job in training camp.
Eric Decker who was selected in the 3rd round, is expected to be the next to sign, as he was drafted the lowest of the Broncos remaining unsigned draft picks.
The Broncos can now focus on signing the high round draft picks, Thomas, Tebow, Beadles and Decker. Expect more signings to be announced in the very near future.

Just announced by the Denver Broncos, outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil has had his contract extended.
While the Broncos do not discuss contract terms per club policy,ProFootballTalk citing a ‘source with knowledge’ states the deal is worth $61.5 million over the next six seasons.
Dumervil is entering his fifth season and is the only player in Broncos history to lead the league in sacks.
“I am pleased to announce the extension of Elvis Dumervil’s contract with the Denver Broncos,†General Manager Brian Xanders said. “He has established himself as one of the NFL’s premier pass rushers, and he’s an important part of the foundation we are building with this team. We are excited to have him as an integral part of the Broncos well into the future.â€
As PFT went on to point out, given the way the club has handled situations with Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall, what choice did they have? Click here to read the rest of this entry »
On Thursday rookie wide receiver Dez Bryant signed with the Dallas Cowboys. The 24th overall pick of the 2010 NFL draft signed a five-year, $11.8 million deal that includes $8.5 million guaranteed, ESPN reports.
Of the 32 1st round draft picks, Bryant is the first to sign. Being the first, he may set off a chain reaction of signings. Two picks before the Cowboys chose Bryant, the Broncos drafted fellow receiverDemaryius Thomas. Bryant’s $8.5 million dollar guarantee may be a key factor in the Broncos negotiations with Thomas, as well as Tim Tebow. T-10 days until we can all see the 2010 Denver Broncos for the first time in person! Previously on the site, the full schedule was announced, you can see that here. This will be my first time attending a Broncos training camp, so I did some research on what to bring, what not to bring, etc. For any other first timers – or if you just want to refresh your memory, here are some tips for Training Camp attendees:
Gates open to the public one hour before each scheduled practice. Practice times are subject to change without notice. Admission and parking are free.
There will be an autograph session for approximately 10 minutes after most practices. A lot of the players are very classy guys though, and some stay longer. Click here to read the rest of this entry »
“The past is behind, learn from it. The future is ahead, prepare for it.”
In 2006 the Broncos benched Plummer before it was necessary, starting Cutler before he was ready. (Photo US Presswire)
The situation the Broncos had in 2006 (with Jake Plummer the starter and Jay Cutler the promising rookie) is very different than the Broncos current situation (with Kyle Orton the starter, and Quinn and Tebow chomping at the bits to play). Nevertheless, there are some similarities between Plummer vs Cutler and Orton vs Tebow, and if history were to repeat itself, the Broncos would be wise to resist the temptation to start Tebow mid-season.
In 2006, Jake Plummer was coming off a solid, yet unflashy 2005 season in which the Broncos made it to the AFC Championship game. Meanwhile, the Broncos had just drafted Jay Cutler with the 11th overall pick. Granted, Cutler hadn’t received the hype Tebow has, but he was a high draft pick and the pressure was on Shanahan to start him, much like McDaniels is now being pressured to at least play Tebow in certain situations – if not start him. Resembling Plummer is Kyle Orton, who is coming off a career year, but doesn’t bring a whole lot to the table besides winning (at home anyway). Click here to read the rest of this entry »
It wasn’t two years ago that the Rocky Mountain News closed its doors, making Denver a one-paper town, and leaving the Denver Broncos with only the Denver Post and the Colorado Springs Gazette to provide independent Broncos coverage.
Today, the struggling newspaper industry claimed another piece of Denver’s mainstream media pie.
