Just exactly how many sacks will Sam Bradford endure this Sunday? The rookie has looked like the real deal, but will it transition to the regular season? Darnell Dockett would sure like to welcome him to the NFL.
Mike Singletary has quietly been putting together one of the toughest and meanest defenses in the NFL, but just how loud will they start the season?
This Sunday afternoon is full of answered questions. Can the Eagles handle the hyped up packers? Who will prevail in the age old Cowboys vs. Redskins rivalry? Will the Ravens shut Rex Ryan up Monday Night? How badly will the Chargers beat the Chiefs? Find out on Sunday, but you can read my thoughts after the jump. I’ve been known to be pretty good at predicting a thing or two when it comes to the Denver Broncos and football (the trade for John Elway; Super Bowls: XXI, XXII, XXIV, XXXII, XXXIII; the Mike Shanahan Era; Rod Smith; Champ Bailey and Janet Jackson Gate). What I’ve recently become terrible at predicting is the Broncos overall record since 2009 (13-3), I’ve been terrible at it (2010, 12-4). Last year I looked like a genius, up until the loss to the Washington Redskins.
So, I won’t be doing that this season (11-5); instead I will be predicting week-to-week. You may see contributions for the other posters on this blog, you may not. Either way, we look forward to your predictions in the comments and whoever predicts the most games correctly will have a song composed by BroncoTalk’s own Kyle Montgomery produced by Josh Temple dedicated in your honor (tentatively titled ‘You Don’t Know Me (KnoMo)’).

It’s finally back. Football. Will Brett Favre enact his revenge against the Who Dat nation, or will the send him and his start streak home in a stretcher? Are Cleveland and Tampa really playing each other? Can Tom Brady shake his car accident off? Will Denver be able contain Maurice Jones-Drew? Is it time to be serious about the Jason Campbell and the Raiders? God I love football. Picks and explanations for the early games after the jump. Click here to read the rest of this entry »

Our weekly perusal around the Interwebz for water cooler fodder.

It won’t go over well if the Raiders pass the Broncos in the AFC West standings.
CBS: 24th
They’ve had a lot of big injuries this summer — see Elvis Dumervil — and those are hard to overcome for a team that can’t afford them. Where do they get the big plays on offense?

Denver Broncos offensive tackle Ryan Clady (Christian Murdock/Colorado Springs Gazette)
The most notable portion of Wednesday’s Broncos-Jaguars injury report may be the player not listed.
Starting left tackle Ryan Clady, who missed all of training camp and preseason with an offseason knee injury, was nowhere to be seen on the report. Head Coach Josh McDaniels confirmed Thursday that this meant the 2009 All-Pro selection would be ready to start in Sunday’s season opener at Jacksonville.
“Clady will definitely play — no question,†McDaniels said Thursday. “He’s not even on the injury report. He’s ready to go.â€
Meanwhile, questions do surround the availability of Clady’s counterpart, right tackle Ryan Harris. The fourth-year player’s ankle injury held him out of practice Wednesday and will keep him out Thursday as well.
But McDaniels wouldn’t rule Harris out against Jacksonville.
“Ryan is getting better every day,†McDaniels said of Harris. “We’re going to give it all week and see what happens.â€
If Harris can’t go, rookie Zane Beadles is expected to start at right tackle.
Think back to earlier this offseason, Broncos fans, when Clady’s injury was first announced, and appreciate the bullet we just dodged. Perhaps the football gods can recognize the hit we already took with Elvis Dumervil and give us Harris, too. Please? /sacrifices chicken

QUICKLY:
- The Denver Broncos enter their sixth decade of professional football with a 411-367-10 (.528) combined record. They have the eighth-most wins among AFL/NFL franchises since 1960.
- Denver finished with a 93-67 (.581) regular-season record during the 2000s to mark its third consecutive decade with 90 or more victories—the only team in the NFL to accomplish that feat during the last three decades.

Straight from the “Wait, he hadn’t done this three years ago?!” Files, Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Tim Tebow has launched his official online presence on a number of major websites and social networks.
First is www.TimTebow.com, his official website, featuring the above trailer for his upcoming documentary. We’ll definitely be looking forward to that.
Tebow also launched his social presence on Facebook and Twitter (@TimTebow). In roughly 24 hours Tebow had amassed over 200,000 fans on Facebook and nearly 20,000 Twitter followers.
Tebow may not be the Broncos’ starting quarterback this year or even next, but his profile and draft status make him the undeniable face of the franchise in the near future. Stay in touch with that, erm, face online and never miss a Tebeat.
