The Denver Broncos have won six straight games and will host the New England Patriots at Sports Authority Field @ Mile this week.  And after fighting with NBC and the NFL to keep the game from being flexed to Sunday Night Football, CBS will be broadcasting the game.

The Denver Broncos won their sixth straight game and now have a one game lead over the Oakland Raiders in the AFC West after their 13-10 win against the Bears Sunday. It was another thrilling come-from-behind victory for Tim Tebow and company. BTer’s, let’s dish out game balls.

Tying a career best is never an easy feat. Doing it with half the world watching, and every person that depends upon you as a professional in your craft putting more pressure on you than you’ve ever had before, is an even mightier task. Matt Prater lined up for the game-tying 59-yard field goal and, ice in his veins, sailed the football through the uprights. Then he nearly matched the achievement with a game-winner from 51 yards (which would have been good from 70). Matt Prater doesn’t need this game ball to be feeling really good to be Matt Prater today. — Monty

Broncos rookie linebacker Von Miller has been getting a lot of praise — rightly so — over the past few weeks, but the entire defense and linebacking corps has also been rock solid.  On Sunday, Williams quietly had a stellar game, recording a team-high nine solo tackles (including four for a loss) and two sacks, posting the second multi-sack game of his career.  This week, Williams gets a game ball.  — Jon

All he does is win.  And now, even ESPN‘s analyst Merril Hoge is a believer — yes, Merril Hoge.  Tebowmania is truly incredible.

Forget Defensive Rookie of the Year, Broncos‘ rookie linebacker Von Miller is a candidate for Defensive Player of the Year.  Through his first twelve career games, Miller has totaled 62 tackles, 11.5 sacks (tying a franchise rookie record), defended four passes and forced two fumbles.

Drafted second overall last April, Miller has not disappointed in Denver.  It would be hard to argue that any other defensive player in the league has had more of an impact for his team that Miller has this season.

On Sunday against the Chicago Bears, Miller recorded five tackles (four solo, two for a loss), a sack and drew three false starts from Bears’ right tackle Lance Louis.  Despite playing with club due to an injured thumb, Miller was again a key part of another Broncos victory.

Benefiting from the emergence of Miller has been defensive end Elvis Dumervil.  After missing all of the 2010 season with a pectoral injury, Dumervil started out the 2011 season slowly, still trying to get his mojo back.  Over the past six weeks, Miller has totaled 5.5 sacks (missing one game) and Dumervil has notched 7.5.

Meeting at the quarterback on a weekly basis, Miller and Dumervil have helped the Broncos record at least two sacks in twelve consecutive games — which is the longest of such active streaks in the NFL.  On the season, Miller and Dumervil have combined for 19.0 sacks, which is just four shy of what the entire club totaled last season (23).

If you haven’t already, vote for Miller to go to the 2012 Pro Bowl.  If you already have voted, vote again.  With three games left to play, Miller needs three sacks to tie the single season rookie record.

The Broncos haven’t had a rookie defensive player have such an impact on their season since — I don’t know when.  Miller’s dominating run continues, and it has been fun to watch.  Here’s hoping he breaks the rookie record and gets the consideration for Defensive Player of the Year that he deserves.

Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos are Mile High Miracle Men. There’s no other explanation.

It’s becoming textbook, an expectation, the rule, not the exception. Again, three and a half quarters of offensive ineptitude were wiped away as Tebow and the Broncos did just enough to come away with a win.

They were down 10-0 late in the fourth quarter before Tebow and company went to work again.

And it’s not just Tebow. It’s the entire Broncos team. The defense comes up with a big play (Wesley Woodyard fumble in overtime). The special teams plays out of its mind (59- and 51- yard field goals from Matt Prater to tie and win the game, respectively).

It’s Demaryius Thomas dropping passes through three quarters then coming up with drive-extending clutch catches in the fourth quarter. It’s Matt Prater’s field goal getting blocked from 28 yards at the end of the first half before nailing two field goals from half a football field away. It’s the defense being tired and not forcing a turnover through four quarters then coming away with a fumble recovery in overtime.

Tebow had a passer rating of 6 (yes, six) at one point late in the first half. He finished with a season high in passing yards.

The Denver Broncos are 8-5 and in sole possession of the AFC West because they believe that, no matter the score, no matter the time remaining on the clock, they can win the game. And Tim Tebow is the reason the other 52 men on the team believe that.

What we know:  Last week I wrote here that it sounded like Miller would play and that Royal wouldn’t.  On Sunday, Royal played and Miller didn’t.  So this week I’m just going to keep my mouth shut.

Opposing team’s have not yet figured out how to stop quarterback Tim Tebow and Denver’s offense.  This week, the Chicago Bears‘ defense will take a crack at it.

In Week 11, the Jets contained the option pretty well early in the game, before seemingly tiring as the game went on and ultimately letting up a 95-yard scoring drive.  A week prior, the Chiefs held Tebow to just two completions, but still lost the game.

The Vikings last Sunday allowed Tebow to go 10-of-15 for 202 passing yards a week after he broke the rushing attempt record in a single game by a quarterback against the Chargers (22).  Take away one element of his game, and he’ll hurt you with another (at least, that’s been the trend the past few weeks).

So what are the Bears planning to do when they face Tebow at Sports Authority Field at Mile High this week?  For the answer, we turn to Brandon Spano of 93.7FM and MileHighSports.com:

“Brian Urlacher will shadow Tebow Sunday, that’s the report out of Chicago. They will run 1 gap responsibility and traditional option defense with Urlacher as QB spy,” tweeted Spano on Thursday afternoon.

It’s a role Urlacher has had against other scrambling quarterbacks in the past, and one in which he is confident.

”We just have to be gap-sound and run to the football and we should be OK,” Urlacher said on Thursday. ”We have rules for every offense that we play that stay true all season. Carolina ran a similar offense, every once in a while they’d run some option, so it’s not a lot of adjusting for us.”

Meanwhile, Broncos rookie linebacker Von Miller will get a new cast every day this week on his surgically repaired right thumb in an attempt to get him back in Sunday’s lineup.  Miller was limited in practice on Thursday.
