1:25 MST: Mike Klis corrects his proposed contract numbers.  It’s now a lot higher than initially stated:

11:50MST Mike Klis of the Denver Post has just released financial numbers for the contract the Broncos are offering Manning today.  This is all according to his source.

Interesting round of updates.  10:35 MST.  See the following tweets.  There is “circumstantial evidence” according Kent Sommers of the AZ Republic that the Cards have been informed they are out of the running for Manning.  Now this new report from Steve O’Reilly from the Skinny Post is saying Denver will try to sign Mike Wallace if they can secure Manning giving him another target.  Broncotalk’s Ian Henson made the case for Wallace in Denver here.  The rumor mill just keeps churning.

Don’t get too excited just yet, NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi just threw this out on twitter:

Updates via Adam Schefter at 8:15 MST:

Early this morning on the Evans and Klatt show at Sports Radio 104.3 a rumor came up that the Denver front office along with John Fox was seen celebrating long into the night at Shanahan’s Steakhouse.  This was coming from 104.3’s “source” at Shanahan’s, one can only assume that it was an employee.  They also stated a quote from John Fox that “Tomorrow will be a good day.” Skip ahead a few hours and it is now being reported that Pat Bowlen’s private jet is being prepared to leave at 8:30 mountain from the Centennial airport and is headed for Raleigh-Durham in North Carolina.  (Manning’s been working out at Duke University)  Then comes Vic Lombardi’s tweet that he is confirming that Elway is scheduled to be on board the flight. Michelle Beisner is stating that it’s to watch Manning work out.  Stay tuned Bronco fans, we’ll keep you posted.

$60M over 5 years?  Pfft.  What the hell was all the fuss over yesterday?

  • colorancher

Now apparently the 49ers are in the race.. This is crazy.. I hope Elway’s team get something done today..

    Sneaky Harbaugh….oooooh I hate you….

  • NateDB88

Pretty sure Lloyd said denver was out of the question… not too sure though.

  • NateDB88

Do you remember when — Tebows first TD, ended in a rib injury, Tebows last run of the season — rib injury… You think Peyton manning is more likely to be injured than Mr. WTF my #1 reciever isnt open by 20 feet, i’ll just run Tebow?

  • Tom9798

60 sounds good for a starting bid, but I’d be surprised if that takes it.  It might be fair considering Manning watched last year . . .

but when I hear Mario got 96 and Calvin got 130+, somehow 60 isn’t lighting the fire.

  • Dbuckj

I am so sick of all this PM I am about to loose my head! As badly as I freaking want him to sign with Denver I just want to know where he is going now….

  • colorancher

I guess Manning could change his mind? He wants a pass thrower.. not a runner.

  • broncfan

haha, yeah, they just don’t get how Pey-Pey is going to get us 2 maybe 3 superbowls before he’s done!

  • http://Facebook.com/BroncosZone Jon

I think Manning will apprecaite the way Denver has handled it over the way the Titans are being so outspoken about it.

  • broncfan

good one herc! you gotta get hired on ESPN!

and we aint even getting Abraham…rough day.

  • http://www.broncotalk.net Josh Temple

Abraham couldn’t even play a full game last season.  Not that big of a loss.

  • http://Facebook.com/BroncosZone Jon

Yes, Denver would have to send our 25th pick to Pittsburgh for Wallace.

NateDB88, Lloyd told ESPN a few days ago that if Manning re-signed with Denver he would definitely be interested in coming back to Denver, but I doubt they would be interested in having him.

  • http://Facebook.com/BroncosZone Jon

You are correct.  With their cap problems however, it would not be hard for Denver to give Wallace an offer that Pittsburgh would have a hard time matching.

  • http://Facebook.com/BroncosZone Jon

That’s not bad, if it’s true.

  • Danielkeeling

I have a feeling if mannign doesnt get on that plane back to denver tonight it is over for denver…

Its funny how things taste so good when you are a kid and don’t when you get older.

Klis came back out on twittter and said he gave the wrong contract amounts.  Teams are actually working off of Mannings old contract figures (5yrs/90mil).  I thought previous figures were kind of low.

  • flbronc

too rich for my taste. I was good w 60, but not 90. Too many ifs about his health. Plus, 5 years runs until he is 41.

Klis was wrong?  The sky is indeed falling…Klis was wrong!  In the famous words of the great Bugs Bunny- “What a maroon!”

  • Vincemarine

Klis is an idiot.  He has to be the worst reporter of all time!  I call him Bum Scoop!!!!

  • Tom9798

Now 90 as a start, I can feel ‘hot flames of fire, roaring at my back.’

  • Anonymous

Well I also heard that he is willing to go off incentives as well in case of injury.  I have heard that several times.  So if he is willing to do that, I think 18 mil/yr would be fine with me.

Klis= Diaper Boy- useless and full of crap…

Way to go Tom..he must have read your post!

    Turns out it wasn’t…

Nothing unexpected but somewhat BREAKING NEWS — http://nfltraderumors.co/report-arizona-will-pay-kevin-kolb-his-7-million-roster-bonus/

    ARIZONA OFFICIALLY OUT!

    [ :-) ] – MIAMI OUT!
    [ :-) ] – ARIZONA OUT!

    [ >:-( ] – TITANS STILL IN!

    SUPER ANGRY BIRDS FACE!!!!!!

    49ers are In!!!!!!
THEY ALREADY HAVE ALEXIS SMITH! SO F-CK OFF!!!

  • flbronc

the incentive portion of a contract is counted against the cap from what i have heard.  basically if he is eligible for 18 but only guaranteed 10 our cap hit is the larger number. that impacts what we have in free agency in the future.

I bet the tunnels are still fun though…ok maybe not as fun.

Strangely enough I actually enjoyed the food more than I remembered.  It was more the 1980’s arcades, carpet and paint that I was referring to :)

I will take Tebow over Alex Smith…yup I said it.

Royal about joining SD: ““It’s going to be an adjustment playing on the other side, but I’m
excited about it. San Diego’s always been a tough team to play. They’ve
always been tough to beat. So it’s good to be on the right side.”

    what an ass…

Remember the good ol days when the RMN and DP fought to get the scoop and their sights were updated all day?  Now it’s- “Klis, make up some crap for an article”, “Woody, act angry about something and bring up some 20yr old stuff”, “the rest of you read each others articles, add a catchy headline and recycle everything.”

  • Anonymous

“Manning is actually seeking is a contract like the one he signed last year with the Colts, which was for five years and $90 million, with a whopping $61.8 million in the first two years.”

I did say this was coming. It’s all about who is going to give him the most money upfront. The asshole is going to do everything he can to screw over whatever franchise gets him.

  • Anonymous

“Woody, lets see how many idiotic puns you can jam into a 700 word column”

  • flbronc

     yup.  time to bow out.

  • Anonymous

Do get angry.  Just accept that somebody shoveled a gayder fan in front of a keyboard.

  • http://Facebook.com/BroncosZone Jon

    Klis is terrible.

  • http://www.broncotalk.net Josh Temple

I re-tweeted that, didn’t think it was completely post worth but ugh.

  • Anonymous

Let’s not forget his name dropping.  A column from Woody wouldn’t be the same without at least 1-2 name drops.

  • http://www.broncotalk.net Josh Temple

Ian likes to pick on this one in particular.

  • BroncoBott

I miss that place too.  I liked the cave room the best. Been 20 yrs since I have been there.  GO BRONCOS!!!!!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you all.It was March 17th, this day is 1974, when I flew to Stapleton with seven hundred dollars and my guitar. The cab driver took me to a bar in Larimer Square.  It was called, ‘Your Father’s Mustache.’They were handing out pitchers of green beer onto the sidewalk.I took one and sat down on the curb, took a big swig, and told myself, “this is do-able, I’m home.”
