The Denver Broncos‘ first round of the 2010 NFL Draft is in the books, with Josh McDaniels and company selecting wide receiver Demaryius Thomas 22nd overall and quarterback Tim Tebow 25th.

It’s hard to fault the Broncos for trading out of the 11th spot, but both selections have been classified by various experts as reaches in the first round. Thomas is fast and physical but lacks polish, while Tebow is the most controversial, boom-or-bust pick of the draft.

How would you grade the first day of the Broncos’ 2010 draft? Take the poll and dish it out in the comments.

There are some “ifs” on the part of McD here: IF McD attempts to maximize the potential of Tebow, under Orton, with Quinn as the true #2 back-up, then McD will have defenses totally guessing as to what to do. At minimum, the “wild-pony”(as they call it in Denver). At much more, you have a receiver/runner that can throw (60 yds+ from one knee). Remember, McD learned from Bellicek, and I have read the Pats were also interested in Tebow. I've seen Tebow play and am quietly a huge fan of him. His work ethic, and faith, have carried him far, and will be needed in the NFL. I expect McD to use Tebow in just about every way possible, including returning some kicks. Another intangible: Lack of injuries. How about 3 Qb's on the field at once? This could get real interesting.

I agree. The marshall and sheffler trades are big mistakes. I was pissed to see cutler go and feel he didnt get much of a chance to grow with the broncos. I do understand he didn't want to be there but there are always going to be things we dont see or hear about, which is usually the truth. anyways, we need a fricking quarter back, Orton “sucks” an d i'm hopin moreno can do better this year. I'm not sure what McDaniels has up his sleeve but we better not have a season like last year that got me all excited in the begining and then pissed as hell the last 10 games WTF!

    Divisive coach drafts divisive player…

Coach McD., whether you love him or hate him (and these seems to be the only two ways people feel about him) has been undeniably divisive in his short career with the Broncos. His players either love him or hate him (See Jay Cutler, B Marsh, T Shef, etc). The fan base (and many of them Bronco fans for decades) are deeply split about him. His new QB is another divisive figure. Let's face it; anyone who writes Bible verses on his face comes off as arrogant. To most people, any one who so publicly wears the Bible on his face is telling other people one thing: I am better than you. Everything about Tim Tebow says, “I am morally superior to you.” This might work in college; but let's see Tebow pull this off among a bunch of grown men. Most people have no problem with religious people. It's only when they publicly flaunt their religious superiority, that people start resenting it. Better to wear one's beliefs privately, than to make public currency out of it. As Jesus Christ himself said: “Give unto Caesar…”

So here we have a divisive coach and his divisive quarterback. The only way that McD. can win in this situation is by, well, winning. If he and his boy wonder start winning football games, then everyone will come over to his side, and they will both become national heroes. If Tebow and McD. can't win, then believe me, all hell will break loose in Denver. If they don't win, there will a divide in the organization a mile deep, not just among the fans and the organization but also in the locker room. Already I hear, there is resentment among some of the veterans about this draft pick. If they don't win, it won't be long before every one in Denver will be demanding their heads on a silver platter. Amen !
