“It has nothing do with accountability,” said Brandon Marshall, attacking Josh McDanielsexpressed justification at its core.

Marshall was, of course, reacting to McDaniels’ decision to deactivate the Pro Bowl wide receiver for the Broncos‘ season finale against the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday, a move Marshall claims surprised him as much as anyone else.

“He hadn’t really said anything to me,” Marshall said. [Lindsay Jones/Twitter] “He just came in today and told me I was deactivated.

“I have to respect that. That’s the head coach. He makes the decisions around here, and he has to do what’s best for the team.”

Marshall wouldn’t play nice for long, and soon turned to questioning not only McDaniels’ ability to make such a decision, but the coach’s motives behind it, too.

“I don’t think Coach ever played in the NFL,” he said, “so for my hamstring to be feeling the way it felt, it’s tough for me to go out there and expect to play at a high level.

“I played last year with a tear in my hip, so I don’t think my toughness is in question here.”

Marshall is right; McDaniels never played in the NFL, but for him to play that card screams diva wide receiver or worse: conduct detrimental to the team.

As if aiming for such a penalty, Marshall then took it to another level.

“If he (McDaniels) decides to take some personal shots because of the way the season’s unfolding, it’s not my fault,” Marshall said. [Frank Schwab/twitter] I’ve made big plays.”

It’s not my fault. That, friends, is the very definition of “accountability,” or lack thereof.

We’re not fond of the way either Coach or Beast have handled this situation. McDaniels should have hashed this out with Marshall before taking it to the media, which is how he handled Tony Scheffler‘s benching. And Marshall: after everything — EVERYTHING — you’ve been through with the Broncos, it’s about time you learned to keep your mouth shut. If you had ended your comments with, “I have to respect that” (which you do), you wouldn’t be painting yourself a distraction all over again.

Now the Broncos and Marshall find themselves right back where they were in August: a relationship seemingly beyond repair. Except this time there won’t be on-field hugs and big-play high-fives to hide the heat.

Ok it only took so long before I started hating that dush of a coach whatever he does he better some how make it right. Because all you idiots that think Marshall is a problem. Who cares. Hew is the best wide receiver in the game and if he is gone next year good luck. I will so pissed if Marshall is not on the squad next year what is the point he was the most exciting player to watch and you know. Marshall If you read this Broncotalk be the bigger man or whatever and please please stay to Josh Mc Retard call some better plays this isn’t a high school football team. I thought that you won a couple of Super Bowls. Im out

You’re so spot on… I REALLY want to believe McD can actually replace Shanny. But you’re right. Let’s see how the team plays for him Sunday. It’s the Chiefs at home for a play-off spot… Let’s see!!

It only took till week 16 until I again realized that Josh Mc retard does not know how to call plays and benching Marshall was a bad idea. we still may have a chance here and I think that Marshall can play on a busted up hammy he’s Brandon Marshall I don’t think josh knows how much of a beast Marshall is and where is this so called super bowl offense. He has called some of the WORST plays this year. As far as I am concerned if Marshall is not here next year I don’t think that I will be all that interested in the Broncs. I am not trying to kiss Marshall’s ass I am just saying that dude is insane. Well josh mc dont know how to play at the NFL level anymore daniels. Terrible terrible play calling. I have to also thank Orton way to be sick bro and the Denver D is back. I hope that dush ain’t coaching next year and we keep Marshall

  • Ashley

Well, I don't really care – all I am watching is Coach McD. he is sooo hott!

  • Amy

All I watch is the coach he is sooo fine – sorry marsh.

  • broncos15

brandon is an exellent player he makes big plays.he does need to mature and handle things better but so does josh.if josh wants any chance to win against the chiefs brandon and tony both need to play in the game.

  • Ashley

I don’t really give a rip- sorry Marshall- the coach is hot, that’s the only thing I watch!

McDaniels is not a stupid guy. He said what he said on purpose. I am sure he knows he could have said it differently or waited till Sunday. He said it on purpose for a reason. Everyone wants to play GM and Coach.. Everyone knows the right anwsers but none of us really truly know what goes on behind closed doors and in practice during the weeks, in meeting rooms. There is always more to a story then just what the media puts out there.

If Cutler wanted to be here he would be. Mcdaniels hasnt traded any one away, Its Marshall and Cutler asking to be traded. yeah Mcdaniels looking into trading Cutler but it never happened and now we see a totally different Cutler then when he was here. His attitude sucks and he is a cry baby. Chicago fans already want to get rid of him.. LOL Don’t get me wrong I like Marshall and would love nothing more then for him to stay, but if this is going to keep going on every year the we will never win.. Period. That has to be more then what we are seeing.

I agree completely with that statement his has a lot of growing up to do

  • kerry

what the hell are you talking about? no Marshall, no Orton? Orton isnt good at all regardless of Marshall being there or not.

I think they sensor your stuff here like I was making all the comments on how Mc horrible play calling has no offensive scheme what happened to the Super Bowl winning teams that he coached in New England his play calling ability stinks there were so many third down plays this year that made me want to puck all over that stupid hoodie he wears go back to the patriots and quit trying to ruin the Bronocos Bolen no good either and if all those players are gone next year I may be searching for a new team next year. I mean during the season I bleed orange and blue usually but I don’t know if I can do it next year. You may say where is your loyalty and I say Its left with Shannahan.

Your a retard quite commenting on this page

McDaniels has a high IQ but a low emotional handle.

  • lancephilippi

I totally agree with you on this one. McDaniels is the sorriest excuse for a coach i have ever seen. I cant believe you would bench two of your best players when the playoffs are at stake. He has a big man syndrome and he needs to be fired. He is worthless.

  • lancephilippi

And the biggest whining baby that ever walked the planet

  • lancephilippi

I aggree with you totally lancephilippi. He brought in Nolan (who deserves alot of the credit) and with the 8 new starters on defense made it respectable for the most part, but he will destroy M. Shanahan's offense before Bowlen will fire him. We use to be able to run on anybody, gave up 12 sacks last year, and could move the team vertically. In just one year sacks are way up, can't make a first down in short yardage, and utilizes only one receiver. This was the most boring offense I have seen in the past 20 Years. It will take McDaniels a few years, but he will take us back to drafting in the top 5 like KC and Raiders.
