11-5, with this schedule. Did you have us 16-0 with our cup cake sched last season Ian? Your not serious, right? If you are, yo let me know who ya deala man is?

  • BroncoinVA9986

week 8 thru 12 is gonna be killa

  • http://mrherculesrockefeller.blogspot.com hercules rockefeller

6-12? Which sport are you watching, sport?

  • http://broncotalk.net Ian Henson

DC- I had the Broncos at 13-3 last year =P I was only five games off…

  • http://www.divineinspirationastrology.com Kelly in Carolina

We’ll be lucky to pull off a 9-7 record and vie for a Wild Card Spot! Depending on how the defense comes together though, we could do better. But let’s just set our sights realistically at 8-8, with two more first round picks next year, and after that it’s on! But it will be an exciting season to watch no matter what just to experience the new offense and the resurrected defense!

  • http://broncotalk.net Ian Henson

Lucky is 16-0, we’ll be fine for 9-7. Broncos will come up nicely I think.

  • broncoNM

    I agree with Ian…My prediction is 9-7
My 4 reasons that this team will be better are:
Leadership- We lacked leadership on both sides of the ball last year. McD has brought in vets on the defensive side of the ball (dawkins, hill, goodman). The addition of these guys will help champ lead this defense. Orton will be a better leader than Cutler. Not saying Orton is all around better but its clear that Cutler was not a locker room guy. Guys like royal, hillis and clady have a year under their belt and are proven stars that start to be core leaders.
Defensive Coaching- Slowik was a bum with a horrible track record….Nolan is a better DC with something to prove since being kicked out of San Fran. This defense will see a positive turn around with slowik gone.
Red Zone Scoring- Orton will not throw for 4,000 yrds like Cutler but we will score more points this up coming year. Our red zone offense was not very good…We had costly red zone turnovers and left alot of points on the field. This offense will be deadly in the redzone. Think about our receivers…Marshall, Royal,Stokely, Gaffney…These guys in this system will be impossible to cover in the endzone plus hillis to bang it in as well.
Balance- Cutler is obviously talented but his numbers were inflated last year because we threw the ball all the time. No team can win without balance. With 7 rbs on the ir it was impossible to get any consistency. i believe that buckhalter, arrrington, hillis are upgrades from last years running backs. They will bring much needed balance to this offense.

Also field position…broncos need better field position. Im hoping arrington will help the return game but this is an area the broncos could improve.

  • http://broncotalk.net (dee)

My 11-5 prediction may be high…. so I’ll comprimise and say we’ll be 10-6 and we will perhaps be a wildcard team, unless SD sucks again this year and we win the divison outright.

  • http://broncotalk.net (dee)

Anyone else see Orton’s Bronco Jersey last night on NFL Network? It looks good, and the fan reaction to it was pretty good…. unless it was manufactured for TV =O?

  • milehighs

the denver broncos would have gone to the superbowl this year.but they traded cutler.now the broncos will be lucky to win 5 games next year.so be ready for a shocking year.the broncos will fall hard.worst year every in broncos history.last year they got stomped on.this year their going to be smashed.sad day for all use fans when cutler trade was made.going to feel that for 15 years.

  • http://broncotalk.net (dee)

    milehighs

Why dont you follow ****** to Chicago and become a fan of their team, that way you won’t be sad….and maybe you can cheer them onto a Superbowl. And who knows what’s going to happen in the next 15 years ?

  • Stav

Here we go again, milehighs and his witty, original, thought provoking comments. 7 wins at the least, 9 maximum and that’s with every going perfect. 10 is really pushing it. Admit it, CUTLER, you’re posting in an effort to get some pity from us. Stop using the milehighs alias and just post under your real identity. dueschebag Qb of the bears.

  • kerry

Faith! PFFFTTTT yeah i have about as much faith in McDaniels as i do in the flying spaghetti monster playing for the Broncos. faith is ridiculous. you can be rational WITHOUT faith.

but lets all live in reality for a second here. we could win our first 3 games and then lose our next 8 games in a row. and dont anybody give me that “oh McDaniels will find a way to beat the Patriots” thats what everybody said about Shanahan last year and we got smoked. this is seriously a year where we go 4-12 to 6-10. being optimistic is one thing, but being realistic is another. live in reality people! this is a bad football team that Shanahan left and its even worse now with a very hard schedule. 11-5???? not a chance! 10-6. not a chance. im a die hard fan too but i also live in reality. do you think the Lions fans every year say “oh we are gonna make the playoffs!” NO! because they actually live in reality.

  • kerry

oh did anyone see the report on Maualuga during path to the draft?
yeah they had more bad things to say then good things. ill sum it up:

    Bad in coverage
    bad open field tackler
    too stiff in the hips
    slow for a MLB

and here is the cherry on top: Charley Casserly, a former GM, stated that Maualuga has no good fundamental football skills. but he hits hard. thats it! the best thing thay said was that he hits hard!! PFFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTT. and this is the MLB that most are slobbering over? a guy who cant even make open field tackles?? the guy is a bum! clearly the product of having Matthews and Cushing around him. and this is the guy saome want in the first round. what a joke! this guy will be lucky to go in the first round at all now. his stock has dropped immensely.

  • http://www.broncotalk.net Josh Temple

What is with draft expert’s opinions on everyone’s hips? It’s kind of disturbing, like a strange fetish reserved to a certain few.

  • kerry

    Josh:

the hips thing signifies if a player can turn and run with a WR, or TE. CB’s especially are looked at for their hips. its called “flipping the hips” if you cant turn quick you cant stay with the offensive player while covering.

  • roshon2411

    Kerry,

You actually have said something I agree with… this team will be in the 4-12 to 6-10 range. Could be a long October thru November. As for Maualuga, you once again just regurgitate what other people say.

  • kerry

    Roshon2411:

yeah i posted what other guys said on NFL Network. SO WHAT?? its the truth. now if i posted that the Broncos just traded for Troy Smith, you would be doing backflips that i posted that. and for the record, ive been saying for months that Maualuga is overrated! anyone who posts on here knows that ive said this about Maualuga since the beginning of the offseason. so i havent “REGURGITATED” anything that i havent said months before the report on NFL Network which was just yesterday. ive said Maualuga was way overrated since the whole debate came up about who we should draft. first the debate started with Taylor Mays, then Maualuga. so im way ahead of the report on NFL Network and damn sure ahead of you.

  • http://broncotalk.net (dee)

    Kerry

I think you’ll be wrong about such a bad losing season… but we will see. I have “faith” that I’ll be right and you’ll be wrong ;) lol

  • Robert

    1 at Cincinnati W
    2 vs Cleveland W
    3 at Oakland W
    4 vs Dallas W
5 New England (close game we are at home) plus we do have a good record against them. (not counting last year lost that was humileating. hoping for payback. hate them.
    6 at San Diego L
    7 BYE
    8 Baltimore W
    9 Pittsburgh L
    10 at Washington W(payback)
11 vs San Diego W(if the the coach still wants his job.) really if we don’t beat them at home we are probally going to get anouther coach.
    12 vs N.Y. Giants L
    13 at Kansas City L
    14 at Indianapolis L
    15 vs Oakland W
16 at Philadelphia (too close to call I would say)
    17 vs Kansas City W

8-8 season. if we lose all the close games. 8-8, 9-7, 10-6,

the worse if the coach want his job,

he will lose it if it is 7-9 or lower. I’ll bet u.
funny, 4-0 start but we probally won’t win again till the 8 week. If we are still better then baltimore. if not, great start horrible middle. I hate to put them down but that sounds like them.
unless a sleeper game comes out of nowhere.
what games do u guys think the sleepers could come out if injuries happen. like New England. lol, that would be funny 2 years straight.

  • roshon2411

    Kerry,

OK draft expert, really, you most have missed this post you had back at the end of December. Sure seems you liked him then:

9 kerry { 12.30.08 at Tue Dec 30 11:44 }) ahhh draft talk. my favorite. but before i begin let me get some things out of the way before the dunderheads come in screaming. Julius Peppers, Nnamdi Asomugha are gonna be franchised. that has already been stated. so they wont be available in free agency. the Titans are already negotiating with Haynesworth so he more then likely wont be available. now that that is out of the way….let me begin.

I like Rey Maualuga alot. great potential. but if anyone remembers Shanahan wanted Johnathan Vilma BADLY this past offseason. Vilma is gonna be a free agent this offseason. (if the Saints resign him they forfeit their 1st round pick, so dont bet on the Saints resigning him) so look for Shanahan to get Vilma thus not drafting Maualuga (i prefer Maualuga)

Saftey is a need. but not as much as some think. Taylor Mays is a good one but has high bust potential like Micheal Huff had. Mays will run a 4.35-4.40 so look for Al Davis to draft him just on 40 time alone. William Moore has good size to go with speed. but doesnt warrent the 12th pick. perhaps a trade down to get Moore and a mid round pick would be ideal. keep an eye on Patrick Chung also to be drafted in the second round.

DE is a HUGE need. a great pass rush will make an average secondary great. now there really isnt a DE that is ELITE in this draft. guys like Brian Orakpo, Georgie Selvie are good but not great. my pick for the draft if a DE was taken would be Senderick Marks out of Auburn. he moved to DT this year but played DE before. he is 291 pounds. a 291 pound DE would be ideal to rush as well as stop the run.

DT is also a need. Haynesworth wont be available in free agency and yet again there isnt a real clear cut elite DT. that is unless Terrence Cody declares for the draft. this guy is 6′7, 365 pounds. not very polished but a huge body in the middle. but Shanahan doesnt like big DT’s so dont look for him to be a bronco.

CB needs to be addressed but in the later rounds. so ill skip that.

OL- again upgraded later in the draft.

    QB. no

    WR-NO

    TE-NO

RB-yes. a franchise RB is needed. its time for Shanahan to drop his ego of thinking he can turn bums into stars. Beanie Wells and Knowshown Moreno maybe available at the 12 pick. a franchise back would instantly take the pressure off Jay Cutler from having to throw the ball 45 times a game.

but all in all until the combine rools around its impossible to say who will actually be available at the 12 pick. Maualuga could have a stellar combine and be gone in the top 5. same with Taylor Mays and Terrence Cody.

  • http://broncotalk.net (dee)

    Roshon2411

Wow , I am speechless…. I tip my cap to you sir… I hope I never wrong you lol.

  • kerry

yes i rememeber that post quite clearly and i also know that was before i actually started watching more tape on Maualuga. and when i actually started watching him more often then just during the season i saw exactly what everybody is NOW saying about him.

  • roshon2411

Remember that post quite clearly? You just said you didn’t like Maulaluga from the beginning. So I think you didn’t remember this post at all. I forgot that you went to the combine and if your watching tape of Maualuga you need to get a life or a girlfriend. Come up with original thoughts and don’t follow the thoughts of people such as Charley Casserly.

  • http://broncotalk.net (dee)

    27 roshon2411 { 04.14.09 at Tue Apr 14 18:53 })

Dee, why not 16-0 then? If McD can get the Broncos to the playoffs with this schedule, give him a lifetime contract and not the Shanny lifetime contract.

I agree, if we get to the playoff’s , give McD the key to the city in addition to the lifetime contract.

  • Stav

Settle down girls – more and more I think that we are not going to go LB until the 2nd round and that we’ll go DL with both #1’s and regardless of what they are saying about Maualuga, he’s going in the first round faults and all. I mentioned Senderick Marks a few weeks ago as a 1st round potential pick for us, but figure him, Jackson, Ron Brace, and Raji if somehow he miraculously falls to #12. Clint Sintim might get a flyer from us at LB if he makes it to the 2nd round as he played in Al Groh’s 3-4. The main thing is that if the DL is doing their job regardless of the 3-4 or 4-3, your LB’s are free to fly around and hit somebody, so our focus should lie in upgrading an undersized DL. If the OL is being obstructed by the DL, you don’t need superstars at LB, just solid wrap tacklers who can cover when needed. Going LB with the third pick makes sense I think, but only if they can obtain the targeted DL payers at #12 and #18, which could be possible.

  • kerry

    Roshon2411:

since we are posting old posts here is one done in march, LOOOONG before the Charley Casserly report

:kerry { 03.05.09 at Thu Mar 05 15:52 }) i cannot believe anyone is even mentioning Maualuga anymore. the guy is not that good, if anyone actually reads scouting reports and not just watch the rose bowl, Cushing, Matthews and Laurinitis are all ranked higer then Maualuga in temrms of being better fundamental, NFL ready LB’s. if anyone watched the combine, Maualuga doesnt have the agility or the ability to flip his hips to cover a TE or WR over the middle which 3-4 MLB’s are demanded to do. if we dont get Raji we can trade down for Rin Brace. he is gonna go higher then most think because of all the teams in need of a massive NT. a trade down to 20-25 rnage while acquiring an extra 3rd round pick while getting Brace would be ideal. im so sick of the Maualuga Cronies saying we have to draft him at 12 when he isnt even the best LB on his team, let alone the whole draft. and especially when the D-line is the most important position that needs to be addressed. Tyson Jackson, Brian Orakpo, Brian Cushing or Clay Matthews will be selected before Maualuga is.

um yeah im following Casserly’s thoughts alright. PPFFFTTTT. no i didnt go to the combine, watching tape on a guy is as simple as pulling games off the internet. or are you not that smart? i always watch film of players that im debating about. and no i dont need a girlfriend because im married with 3 kids. clearly ive posted the bad things about Maualuga before Charlie Casserly did.

  • kerry

    Roshon2411:

and here is another one i did in January:

kerry { 01.22.09 at Thu Jan 22 09:41 }) yes. we are in DIRE need of a NT. we are in no way in DIRE need of a MLB. we need a safety MUCH more the another LB. if this team has any chance of competing this year they have up upgrade the D-line. no questions about it. with our offense and an improved defense then we can compete. sorry everybody but a MLB will in NO way make the D-line better. but a better D-line will make our current LB’s better. Maualuga isnt the guy. unless the D-line is upgraded in free agency then Raji HAS to be the pick. impact DT’s are hard to come by. and Raji is an impact DT with freakish ability. i think the love fest for Maualuga comes from some people watching the rose bowl game and not actually thinking about the most dire need for this team. same thing happened last year when everybody was screaming for Rashard Mendenhall.

do i need to bring up more?? because i can. since you wanna keep running your mouth about things you dont know about.

  • http://broncotalk.net (dee)

    Kerry,

Well played. I do recall that post and for the most part I agree you’ve been down on drafting Rey… thats why the other post from Decemeber was so shocking to me.

On other point is all player rankings change quite a bit (up and down) before the draft … I mean look at a guy like William Moore who was considered first round talent by “experts” and now isnt even mentioned. With Rey I think his draft stock was alot higher pre combine and has dipped.

  • roshon2411

Well you might want to take the extra time and spend it with your kids. As for your post, that was a month ago, that was after Maulaluga fell down all the experts drafts boards. You just play follow the leader and you’re playing the part of the lemming.

  • roshon2411

How about this post about Raji, you didn’t think he would be worth the 12 pick and thought he would go in the mid second round. Until you once again read some crap on the internet and changed your mind.

    11 kerry { 12.30.08 at Tue Dec 30 11:54 }) MIABronco:

i checked on BJ Raji. looks good. i dont watch Youtube videos though because they dont tell you anything about conedrills or Shuttle times. Raji isnt even projected to go until the mid second round. so why waste the 12th pick on this guy?? and Carlton Powell barely is 300 pounds and coming off a major Achilles injury. he wont be a factor at all in the upcoming season. Shanahan has to stop with these smaller DT’s. they dont work!!

  • TD30isMVP

The schedule looks brutal, no matter if Shanny was here, or Cutler it will be a monster and expectations for a new system with new players should not be very high (the “old” team would not have done good with this schedule.
The draft (at least the first round) really doesn’t excite me this year because anybody we pick up may start but none are ready to be 3-4 stars out of the gate. If we package and trade up for a quarterback I think that would be a waste this year (next year looks better IMO). If we package and move up for Defense it would suprise me since the Patriot way is to get good system players not superstars. Usually I am giddy waiting for the draft but not so much this year, just hope we get strong servicable players in our areas of need.

  • myerda00

If you just take the big name teams (Pit, NE, etc) as losses, that is 9.
So that means we could go 7-9. Not bad for rookie Coach.
Now lets say we steal three of those 9, that leaves 6 loses.
Record would be 10-6. GREAT season.
But lets also say we lose one or two we should not, then we end with 9-7 or 8-8 which would be 4/5 more games then anyone ANYONE expected in Coach McDaniels first year.

  • JRODZ

8-8, 2-14, 14-2 – I don’t care! It’s April and I’m planning my trip to Denver for the Nov. 9 game against Pittsburgh! Broncos football is back! GET FIRED UP!

  • DC

That will be a great game. I am ashamed I had to drop my season tix, but I can’t afford it these days. But I am going to Philly with my Dawk jersey on. That will be a once in a lifetime opportunity! Any way, I think we need 2 DL in the 1st and 2nd. Raji, Jackson, Brace, or Ziggy Hood who I think could be a great 5 tech. But we DO need and OLB. Moss and or D0om will both have a hard time transitioning. They both can’t cover a RB or a TE which sux. But I’m sure there will be different packages we put in place to get that right.

  • broncobobmeridian

Here’s a thought——- Now that we have all these draft picks, what do you think it would cost us to trade for Peppers? He would make our D a hell of alot better. I cant see it would cost us more than a second rounder.

  • DC

    We don’t have the money.

  • BroncoinVA9986

yea we do DC we still have MAD cap space.

  • broncobobmeridian

The more i think about, the more it make since if we could aford him. If were going to be using a hybrid 3-4 system, have him and Dumervil, and draft someone to play MLB. Our D would actually put some pressure on opposing teams. That was our bigest problem last year. The guys on the D-line last year that got cut, had no business being in the NFL >

  • http://myspace.com/paraleipsis jchase8410

    Wow…

    Roshon

You keep ragging on Kerry for actually posting something of substance. Whether he gets his facts from ESPN analysts or his own research, at least he is posting something relevant. All you are doing is pointing out how his mind has changed about players (imaging that) and attacking him personally about how he spends his time. I would be more than pissed if you even mentioned my kids in your post.

Find something relevant to ADD to the conversation, or keep your posts to yourself.

  • http://bungie.net BroncoLover4Life

Brutal schedule for sure. Maybe 9-7 at best. But I know KC and OAK’s schedules are almost as tough as ours.

Has anyone seen SD’s schedule yet? If it’s as tough as KC and OAK we have a decent shot at winning the devision…

I’m gonna run on over to NFL.com and check out SD’s schedule and get back to you guys… could be a throw up devision like last year.

So that is 8 probible losses right there.

DON’T GET DOWN ON OUR BOYS JUST YET. THE AFC WEST MIGHT LOOK A LOT LIKE IT DID LAST YEAR. 9-7 GETS US IN!
