The Denver Broncos have just announced that they will introduce Josh McDaniels as Head Coach during a press conference set for 5:00 P.M. Monday. Naturally, we’ll cover the event live blog style.

Will he announce his defensive coordinator? Will he discuss the future of the offensive coaching staff, including passing game coordinator Jeremy Bates? Be sure to check back then. Press release below.

BRONCOS TO INTRODUCE JOSH McDANIELS AS HEAD COACH

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Monday will introduce Josh McDaniels as head coach at a 5 p.m. MST press conference at their training facility, President/CEO Pat Bowlen announced.

The 32-year-old McDaniels has agreed to a four-year contract to become the 12th head coach in Broncos history.

McDaniels spent the last eight seasons (2001-08) on the coaching staff of the New England Patriots, helping the franchise win three Super Bowls, four AFC championships and six division titles en route to posting the NFL’s best overall record (111-34 / .766) during that time. He was the Patriots’ offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach during the previous three years (2006-08), directing an offense that led the NFL in points per game (28.8) while ranking second in the league in yards per game (370.8) and third in fewest turnovers (63) over that stretch.

McDaniels worked as New England’s quarterbacks coach from 2004-05 after serving as a coaching assistant for the club from 2002-03 and as a personnel assistant/coaching assistant in 2001. His coaching career began in 1999 as a graduate assistant at Michigan State University.

Despite a season-ending injury to starting quarterback Tom Brady in Week 1, New England’s 2008 offense finished the year with an NFL-best 356 first downs and ranked fifth in the league in yards per game (365.4) under McDaniels. His coaching helped backup quarterback Matt Cassel, who became a starter for the first time since high school, total the eighth-most passing yards (3,693) in the league.

In 2007, McDaniels coached on a Patriots team that was the first in NFL history to post a 16-0 regular-season record and advanced to Super Bowl XLII. McDaniels’ offense was one of the most productive in NFL history with the Patriots setting league records for points scored (589 / 36.8 ppg.) and touchdowns (75). Individually, Brady set an NFL single-season record for touchdown passes (50) to earn MVP honors while wide receiver Randy Moss caught the most touchdowns (23) for a season in league annals.

The Patriots won Super Bowls with McDaniels on their staff during the 2001 (XXXVI), ’03 (XXXVIII) and ’04 (XXXIX) seasons.

McDaniels played quarterback and wide receiver at John Carroll University (University Heights, Ohio) from 1995-98 after finishing his prep career at Canton McKinley High School (Canton, Ohio).

Born on April 22, 1976, in Barberton, Ohio, McDaniels and his wife, Laura, have one son, Jack Thomas, and one daughter, Maddie.

    O, poor pigmeat crying about how the Broncos won 2 superbowls in a row just a decade ago, THE CHARGERS HAVENT WON A SUPER BOWL SINC THE BEGGINNING OF TIME! not to mention this is the second straight year that loser runningback has sat on the side line like a baby, while the Chargers get stomped on. Any team that is only able to muster 1 play in a full quarter doesnt deserve to talk.

    No that’s what Joey Porter said the NFL gave copies of the tapes to NFL Netwrok and ESPN the originals are on file in the NFL Headquarters

    I dont kno Like i said i saw them on ESPN it was just after the draft. i can tell u its basically a low quality film of someone filming the Dolphins D Coordinator signaling plays and the steelers d coordinator signaling plays. How did u not see it it was a afternoon special.

    Wait pigmeat… You think your team was beat up? Um… We had 7 players from 1 position on ir, played the last 3 weeks with virtually no running game. Had a player start both ways and had an undrafted fa linebacker start a game at safety. We have quite possibly the worst safeties in the league and had virtually no pass rush all year…and it still took the favorites to make the superbowl 17 weeks to pass us in the division. Did you said buffalo a thank you card by the way? And who was the last coach sd hired? Norv turner!

    Wow when a coach wants to advance their coaching career and become a head coach the organization sucks. Samuel left for the 66 million dollars they payed him. Pioli wants another challenge to reverse a franchise. The Broncos suck because no of their coordinators were even considered for career advancement. Think before u speak Ben

    your rbs were all disposable, and mediocre it wasnt like t.d. was out for the year. on d your injured guys sucked as bad as the guys playing.

    bolts had starting qb coming acl in one, and mcl in the other. probably 1 of the top 5 rbs of alltime hurt most of year. top te in the league hurt all yr, top 5 lb gone for the yr, and probowl center out for 1st half of yr.

    I love the arguement of the Bolts being the best team in the division because they win it since pigflesh has been watching football. Go back and check the record books when Seattle and SD were the two easy wins every season in the West.

Trust me had any of ur coordinators been considered 4 a head coaching job they would have left for greener pastures not stay on a dying franchise like Denver

    Pats fan, yes i admit i jumped into that last comment will-nilly, however, it should be disscussed that those coordinators who did receive jobs have been complate and utter dissappointments, Crennel and Mangini were both fired and Weis is a great recuirter but cant do anything with that talent, hopefully mcdaniels is as good as you say and he will be able to coach the broncos a little better than belicheck’s “discpiles”

    Wow, lots of bitter and angry commenst about two teams that did absolutly nothing this year. I am a true blue bronco fan and love my team, as does pigmeat. But the true fact is we both sucked the big one this year, whether it be from injuries or just piss poor playing, we both still sucked. So, lets move on and be fans supporting our teams with pride, we sure don’t have to look like complete idiots pissing and moaning about what sucky team was the best this year. In my opionion no team from the AFC west deserved to be in the playoffs this year. And nobody out there could believe that any team this year from the afc west was going anywhere. And that is a fact, also a fact is we all love our teams….. So, lets keep the rivalries going but at least do it with a bit of class and spirit of the game or I guess we can all drop to the level of ” My daddy is stonger than your daddy ” ….time to grow up and move on….we are all going to be home watching this year……Bronco’s 2009….

    Crennel and Mangini have one thing in common both were Pats D Coordinator all they do is call the plays the scheme is Belichicks. Mcdaniels runs the offense he creates the schemes and plays all im sayin is that Mcdaniels made the offense not Belichick so his success is on him not Belichick. While Mangini and Crennel were given credit for Belichick scheme when all they did was call plays.

    my dad has bought me season tckts. since i was old enough to go, so iam Huge bolt fan. i appreciate that the vast majority of bolt fans( unlike raider fans) are hospitable towards visiting opponents fans. ..rivalry is good natured. i ve had brats,and beers with many chiefs, and bronco fans(not raider fans, most of them are la thugs) .

    i cant wish anything good for the broncos organization, but i hope everything else goes well for you all.

    looking forward to the draft, and 09
