Peyton Manning

Any questions about Peyton Manning‘s health or or arm strength rust were answered in the Denver Broncos‘ 2012 season opener on Sunday night.

The Broncos have nothing to worry about when it comes to Peyton Manning at quarterback.

Manning was surgical against the Pittsburgh Steelers. His first NFL action in 610 days saw him hit Demaryius Thomas and Jacob Tamme for touchdowns of 71 yards and one yard respectively. He scored more points in one minute in the third quarter than Ben Roethlisberger achieved in nearly a full quarter on two drives. Manning fininshed 19 of 26 for 253 yards, no interceptions, and a 129.2 passer rating as the Broncos went on to roll over the Steelers 31-19 in Week One 2012 NFL action.

Those Von Miller sacks were the cherry on top :)

  • Tim Lynch

You give Von Miller a chance to be a hero at the end of the game and he effing delivers!

Too bad it has to happen at the end

Nothing feels as good as a convincing victory against a good team.

I have never seen (Insert Name) at Mile High so rockin’. There was a thunder I have never seen or experienced before. I couldn’t have pictured a better game. The cherry on top for me was seeing Steeler fans came into our house, leave early with their heads in their hands. Go Broncos!

  • Tim Lynch

I was not displeased by it. :)

Man I’m about as stoked as I can be… There are three things IMO that are a fact at this point…
    1. PM is all the way back and in great form.
    2. Joe Mays is NOT a starting middle LB in the NFL.
    3. We sucked on third down…lol.

I know your prolly thinking that that is two negative things after such an awesome victory, but trust me I’m not griping but rather stating the truth. The O was almost two dang good however and that was SOOOO much fun to watch. I mean how long has it been since we were able to almost “KNOW” it wasn’t a biggie? Forever!

Even with there busted up O-Line we couldn’t get there on third down, However bend but don’t break proved to be enough, at least in this first game. I’m hoping that Ben was just that good truthfully, which you have to give those guys credit, they flat out played also. In the end, the better team won though ;-).

    Nor I ;-)

Peyton Manning and the Broncos looked great all around! Couldn’t have asked for a better start than this and against the Steelers defense (minus 2 starters though)! Great respect from Von Miller Tebowing after the one sack too! Great to see Wolfe “hungry like the wolf” in getting his 1st career sack! That Broncos secondary now with Tracy Porter on the other side of Champ Baily? Shit, forgettaboutit!!! Lol.

    Solid game!!
    Running game was effective.
    Manning was, well, Manning.
Receivers, all of them, did well.
    O-line was pretty good.
Defense was good when it had to be.
    Great job stuffing the run.
Seems like the Steelers converted every 3rd down, which seemed like last year.
We still can’t cover the tight end.
    MLB is still our weakness.
    Great start!!

Its amazing how out of touch Collingsworth is, did he really say how much the Broncos love Mays? He’s starting out of necessity since Nate Irving wasn’t able to replace him. He’s listed at 5′ 11″, 250lbs. I believe the 250, its all in his traps and biceps, but he’s more like 5′ 8″ and should be a backup. Also, how stupid are we on third downs? Why did Moore even hit Sanders for that penalty, the ball was dropped and he could of laid off in my opinion. And lastly, Woodyard on Miller, 3rd and 18, Woody bites on the out and up? ITS THIRD AND 18 MY FRIEND, give him the OUT. We have ways to go on third down, its like the same defense for the last few years keeps showing up on 3rd and longs. Gotta love the Derek Wolfe sack, and Porter’s play was great.

Trying to stay calm after just one game, but I think all of us in Broncoland are trying to control our confidence after what we saw. Don’t want to get cocky but that was quality for the most part yesterday. Its almost weird to watch our offense move the ball up and down the field THROUGH THE AIR.

Next up, away at Atlanta. I think what they did to KC yesterday is more of an indictment on how AVERAGE Matt Cassel and the KC defense really are. I think it’ll be close up until the end, and I’ll just say it, Matt Ryan is good, but he’s DONE NOTHING and yet gets all this love heaped on him. WHY, he hasn’t done anything.

Last point, Moreno did miss some blocking assignments yesterday, but was an amazing receiver at Georgia. How about some screens to him? Is it strangely good that none of our RB’s had any catches to them yesterday? I suppose Manning is just going to keep firing the ball to his WR’s and TE’s and screw the checkdowns?

Willis caught the 2 point conversion to go up 22-19..but I get what you’re saying.

  • Bryandotcom

Great way to start the season! Hopefully the defense not getting off the field on 3rd down was just a fluke and not a season long issue.

  • TD30isMVP

That was a hard fought win and answered a lot of questions. I am concerned that we still cannot cover a tight end. I can only assume Del Rio will shore that up.

  • anthony33

They should have suited up Miss Franklin, she would have done better at MLB!

  • Gary_in_SD

Yes concerning, but the fact that the defense was at its absolute strongest in the 4th was really encouraging. Especially considering they spent SO much time on the field in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

  • Gary_in_SD

It was an amazing game and vintage Manning in every sense. I hope that all of the naysayers about the deal are now ready to get on board. This season looks like it might just be a lot of fun!

  • Gary_in_SD

I’ll give a good size chunk of credit to Big Ben for all of those 3rd down conversions. He’s a hellava player. Very Elwayesque in many ways.

  • TD30isMVP

I agree Gary, they did not fade in the 4th but got stronger. However, it is the Chicken or the Egg thing, if they would have stopped the tight end from converting every third down then they would not have been on the field so much. We have a division chocked full of great tight ends and happen to be facing a legend this week, so let’s hope we get that fixed.
