With the seventh pick of 2012 Interactive Mock Draft, the Indianapolis Colts select…

8. Indianapolis Colts Logo Morris Claibourne, CB, LSU

Hello BT’ers, I’m Jim Jebow, the GM of the Indianapolis Colts, and today I’m going to give you the low down of our draft plan.  As many of you already know, I traded away the #1 pick in the mock draft to the Miami Flippers for a boat load of picks. I know most of you think it is ludicrous to not draft Luck, but I disagree.

The Colts organization is in very bad shape right now, and one person will not change this around.  If Manning would have been retained this year and had to play with the Colts current roster,  I have a hard time believing that he could have carried this team into the playoffs.  I have no doubts that Luck will become an exceptional player in the NFL, but this team has more holes than swiss cheese. The Colts will be able to add much needed talent back into the franchise because of the trade.   So with that said the Indianapolis Colts use the number eight pick of the 2012 NFL draft on…..drum roll please…..Morris Claiborne cornerback LSU.

The Colts secondary is awful, Jerraud Powers and slot corner/occasional starter Terrence Johnson cannot stay healthy and Jacob Lacey looks like a young Roc Alexander out there.  The Colts secondary had only six interceptions last year, and they were constantly picked on.  Claiborne will instantly improve this unit.  He also is a capable return man and has never had any kind of character issues at LSU.  His size (5’11” 188lbs) does put up some red flags, but his athleticism and swagger seem to compensate for it.

On a related note that some of you might find interesting,  the Oakland Raiders did contact me regarding a trade for the number eight pick.  They wanted to move up to pick the punter Bryan Anger from Cal.  Most draft experts have projected Anger being a 5th to 7th round pick, but because of his excellent 40 yard dash time and his bitchin last name, the Raiders wanted to make sure they didn’t lose their man.

If the Raiders go another direction before I pick at 18 I’ll happily swap them so they can pick a punter on their way back around.

Dude, I personally know Roc Alexander.  That ain’t right.

Bro, I didn’t know you were a name dropper.  I was just talking to my good friend Glyn Milburn the other day about how we can’t stand it when people do that.  My BFF Kennoy Kennedy feels the same way
