The NFL’s 2012 supplemental draft was held last week. The Cleveland Browns were the only team that selected a player — using a 2nd round selection on wide receiver Josh Gordon.
Carson-Newman linebacker Larry Lumpkin signed with the Indianapolis Colts as a free agent. The Denver Broncos had shown interest in Lumpkin.
Rookies Brock Osweiler and Ronnie Hillman remain un-signed with training camp just around the corner. Â If the Broncos are going to get deals done before camp, there is a good chance they’ll be announced on a Monday. Â That leaves tomorrow and next Monday (the 23rd) as dates to keep an eye on.
Player foundation links after the jump.
Linebacker Wesley Woodyard and his 16Ways foundation hosted a youth football camp yesterday at the University of Kentucky. More on the camp can be found at 16WaysCamp.org.
Cornerback Tracy Porter will visit Alamosa July 20-21 to encourage underprivileged youth through his Pick6Foundation in academics and recreation. Porter’s foundation’s goal is to fight child obesity.
The New Orleans Saints and quarterback Drew Brees agreed on a five-year, $100 million deal last week. The new contract makes Brees paid just slightly higher than Denver’s Peyton Manning.
Manning and his family are hosting their seventeenth annual Manning Passing Academy this weekend.  Among the quarterbacks that helped with the event was old friend Bubby Brister.
Here’s a nice breakdown of one of Manning’s favorite plays – an inside breaking concept — courtesy of NFP’s Matt Bowen.  The play is not very complicated but was extremely effective for Manning while he was in Indianapolis.
And on one final note, if you were wondering what the shower looks like in Manning’s new home, we’ve got you covered. Â Image here.
