On Tuesday afternoon, Denver Broncos linebacker D.J. Williams took to Twitter to dish out some smack — on a division rival.  Williams started by asking Chargers wide receiver Eddie Royal “you went to San Diego?”

Did Williams really just find out or realize that Royal had signed with San Diego? Regardless, it appears that Williams knew Royal was headed out of town because Royal wrote back, “Yup, you got your wish.”

That wish, presumably, was for Royal to stay in the AFC West so Williams could play against him.  Williams noted,  “I get two chances a year… I’m going to smash ya soft ass!”

Royal responded, “Haha, I heard this everyday in practice from D.J. for four years.”  To which Williams concluded:  “Couldn’t do it then (in practice), now it’s on!”

Royal signed a three-year, $13.5 deal with the Chargers last month as a free agent.  Williams is entering his ninth season as a starting linebacker in Denver and could miss six games this season if his performance enhancing drug suspension is upheld.

How about it, Bronco fans?  Would D.J. Williams smashing Eddie Royal be on your list of things you want to see this season?

What would impress me is D.J. not getting in troubled suspended 6 games. Im guessing D.J. will get only one shot at Royal this new year.

     Ha good point.

All fun and games for the smack talk, but D.J. not knowing Royal signed with someone else until now still irks me to no end. Dude is a TEAM CAPTAIN?!

He pays no attention to his job or team the second the offseason hits.

I would say no it isn’t on my list.  I personally liked Royal as a person.  I do agree with the soft comment that DJ made though. If there is someone DJ needs to smash it is Phillip Rivers.   Can’t stand his whiny a$$.

    Agreed.

  • Broncosolja

like it or not.. royal will be the first offensive player we see on the chargers!! #punt return #kick return

  • Broncos4ever

Hey DJ, I assume you heard about our new addition @ QB, right?

  • @DaSouthStands

Not something I’d like to see because I couldn’t afford the punishment Comissioner Goodell would impose on me for encouraging it. He might take away my DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket subscription, then how would I watch the Broncos?

There is the possibility that D.J. has a life outside of twitter.

“Would D.J. Williams smashing Eddie Royal be on your list of things you want to see this season?”

Well that all depends on what team DJ is playing for ;)

  • Mikeerson

I always liked Eddie Royal…. the past couple years I just don’t think the Broncos saw how good he was – like Brandon Lloy, Brandon Marshall….  Rick Upchurch and Rod Smith were great with the Broncos, I guess if Royal would of insisted on wearing #80, he’d still be here… as for the Question, yeah, I can’t wait to see DJ Lay out a Charger as long as DJ doesn’t tackle like a Saint – I still like Eddie – cool guy…. I am tired of being a Bronco fan only to have to cheer for the Chargers, Bears and Jets – oh my and on that note, I can’t wait to see Tebow run over DJ -lol

Slow down convict university (aka Miami) you know what happened to Vilma…don’t talk about smashing anyone, although I love the fire, just your association to the “U” lets chill till this has blown over.

he is the enemy, NO MERCY !!

  • Wakemeup

kind of hard to smash anyone when you’re always suspended, isn’t it?

  • Italian gypsy

Well DJ, you do what you gata do but being suspended sure don’t help ya much. But when you play play hard we need to get back to the bowl it’s been to long.

  • darrylg

I think you read ” I’m NOT a Bronco fan , I just like to say that . ” I have nothing against Eddie Royal . But Demarius is starting to live up to his hype ,so am anxious to see how he explodes on the field, w/ PM under center . @ Mikeerson – Rick Upchurch , Steve Watson , Eddie Mac – They were all great WR’s . Rod smith is in a class by himself , in my book . He’s a player that Peyton would’ve been happy to have .

  • Msl3077

totally agree dude but honestly I have yet to see DJ do anything even remotely good for denver and I also agree that Tebow will run him over the only Bronco I feel I can actually root for anymore is Miller

  • mook

you really think DJ didn’t know about that? get real.

  • B-Rocket

DJ has to catch him first (which I don’t see happening) and it will be hard to catch him from the sideline. Enjoy your suspension. Time to reasses our “captain” status on Williams.

  • Broncos33

Eddie Royal is a class act on and off the field. If injuries didn’t slow him down, he could of been still on the roster. DJ keeps proving how not to act off the field(2 DUIs, calling out ex players & now suspension pending). He could of leard a lesson or two from Eddie.

  • Denverlover

You guys are idiots I you think dj does nothing for us except getting suspended he Earned his captain status!! As go royal how can you say he’s full of class when he Chose to go to our rivals instead of playing with pm! Dj light hi ass up and watch dj will get his suspension lifted or reduced!!

  • Denverlover

Lot of misspells its because I had to write thi fast at wrk!!!

  • Romey78

how about not getting suspended then we’ll talk

dj has led the team in tackles all but one year in the nfl. should have been a pro bowler several times. made some bad off-field decisions but plays hard every play. sure he and eddie are just smack talking.
