NFL teams will be free to begin singing unrestricted free agents on Tuesday, March 13th starting at 4 (p.m.). The Denver Broncos may be signing several players during the free agency period, including a safety.
The Denver Post’s Mike Klis reports that the team is looking for a thumper, and suggests former Patriots’ safety Brandon Meriweather as a possible free agent prospect for Denver. Two other safeties that Klis suggested were San Francisco’s Dashon Goldson and Jacksonville’s Dwight Lowery.
Meanwhile, defensive tackle remains one of the Broncos’ biggest needs. Like last off-season, Denver may bring in several tackles to compete in training camp. ESPN‘s Bill Williamson says the word at the combine was that Cincinnati free-agent Jonathan Fanene could fit in with the Broncos.
A versatile 4-3 defensive lineman, Fanene can play both defensive end and defensive tackle. Last season with the Bengals, Fanene recorded 24 tackles and 6.5 sacks.
What would you think of either of these players coming to Denver? View five defensive free agents I think Denver should target right here.
