The Denver Broncos defense did everything it could to put the football game within reach.

Then Tim Tebow did the rest.

95 yards away from a victory, 55 minutes into a football game in which the offense was completely ineffective, the Broncos quarterback transformed. Three quarters of offensive putridity was forgotten. The statistical shortcomings, irrelevant. All that mattered was the scoreboard: a four-point deficit, and a football field to travel.

The Tim Tebow that started four offensive series in Jets’ territory and had three points to show for it was gone. The Tim Tebow that underthrew and overthrew receivers was history. The Broncos emptied the backfield; they gave Tebow an extra blocker and let him execute an offense the way he knew how. And on a 20-yard run with less than two minutes to play, Tebow dodged a handful of tacklers and ran into the end zone.

“We have a resiliency,” Tebow said. “We have a tough team that’s going to keep fighting for 60 minutes.”

The defense sealed the deal (Orange Sunday remembered — no pass interference this time), and the Broncos went on to win, 17-13.

“I trust him,” Von Miller said, who had two sacks on the night. “I hope he shut up a bunch of critics today.”

The Broncos defense should trust themselves, as well. They hassled and harassed Mark Sanchez to the point of ineffectiveness that rivaled Tebow’s early struggles. Andre Goodman‘s pick-six of Sanchez emphasized the Broncos’ defensive night.

And they played smart, penalty-free football to end the game.

The Broncos have won three straight to move back into .500, and NFL relevance. They’ll face the San Diego Chargers, aiming to complete a season sweep of the AFC West when on the road.

Tim…God Bless You man…You have more heart than the entire Jets team…combined.  Rock on Tebow!

Wow, what a terrific ending! So glad Fox finally allowed Tebow to do what he does in that final drive. They were so transparent in first 3 quarters and the offense was just painful to watch. Plus, why wouldn’t they sneak Tebow on that 4 and inches in the 1st quarter? Just let Tebow be Tebow and he gets the job done!

  • Anonymous

F it, I’m all in! Let’s go Tebow! and for all that is holy will your coaches let go and just let you play!!!

Kyle, I know 3 weeks ago you wanted Tebow benched. Have you changed your tune?

  • King

I agree.  I was screaming for a sneak on that 4th down play.  You’ve got 255 pound Tebow (as per his brother) and a 300 pound lineman.  It’s a no-brainer.

    Great win!  Enjoy !

  • Vincemarine

Wow, what a good game!  Tebow really has something special about him to win games.  A lot of credit needs to be given to the defense.  They were balling tonight!  Dennis Allen has a good scheme and players are really starting to show up.  (Bunk, Von, Doom, Harris, Goody)  Go Broncos!  Can’t wait until the 27th when I get to see them in person!

Great defensive battle, the defense kept the game within reach tonight, and somehow this offense was able to muster a 4th quarter Will that was enough to complete what no analyst thought would happen.  Yes this offense is lacking in scoring power, and I  believe it will catch up sooner rather than later, but I could not help myself from grinning ear to ear watching this Team  compete! I will enjoy this one and look forward to the next, I believe the game ball goes to the defense. …also the penalty on Dawkins for the hit on ??Burris ?, was a joke.   Sanchez is gonna need the extra rest to recover from this beating.

Most of the critics of Tim Tebow who played football such as ESPN analyst Merril Hodges, was not that good. Yet he criticizes Tebow. So when Tebows career is complete, perhaps the statistics and hopefully a Super Bowl win will give him the credit he deserves!

  • Davidl413

Amazing. The guy just finds a way. I think Fox and McCoy have done a nice job gearing the gameplan around Tebow.  That said, after watching him on that final drive you wonder if they should just let him freelance and play his “playground” game a little more often.  Seems like he barely ran until that final drive. Also, we shouldn’t overlook the defense tonight. Outstanding. Von Miller continues to make play after play. Great win.

  • Dante Pakistan

This shit is crazy! I’ve never seen anything like this before, I have no idea how we keep winning with this offensive game plan. Our D has been outstanding the past couple weeks. If we can keep playing D like this, Tebow’s lack of passing skills won’t matter if we never fall far behind. I’m still skeptical, but fuck it’s exciting and I’ll enjoy for the rest of this season.

  • Bullgtor

I’m a Tebow believer but even I didn’t think he could win tonight with the lack of running backs and the type of insincere coaches he is stuck with. Change the coaching staff before years end and watch him and the team blossom next year.

For the Tebow haters… if there are any left

  • Bullgtor

    Tanner that was super.

  • CJ

most coaching staffs would have ditched Tebow by now. mike mccoy and fox believe in Tebow and you can clearly see that in this game plan. No coaching change in my opinion

  • Mannylopez

Hell boys, Denver believes in Tebow, as do I.

  • UH HUH

Eat your words Monty. Tebow is a winner

  • SoCalBronco7

Von Miller is an outstanding player. What a draft pick!

Tebow: People just do not understand that aside everything else, his biggest contribution to the Broncos is that he gave everyone hope and made all our players believe they can win every football game.

A few weeks ago it seemed that we were not going to win another game. Now we are 5-5!
You have to give John Fox incredible props. A few weeks back I called him a dinosaur but to his credit he put his ego aside and week by week he created a stable environment from where Tim can succeed. Low risk offense and ferocious defense!GO BRONCOS!

The announcer for the game last week against the chefs said it best… “He’s an enigma wrapped in a riddle”.

Whatever it is, he’s not only made this season fun, he’s made something special out of absolutely nothing.

Still though, I don’t want to take anything away from the defense. They did more than their share to get this win too. Especially Miller. I’ll bet his jerseys will be flying the racks in stores tomorrow!

  • http://broncotalk.net Monty

I’m too knee jerk reactionary to respond with any kind of noneuphoric logic right now.

Tebow time made #1 on ESPN top plays tonight… Of course!

  • King

“I said before, I trust him. I trust him with everything,” teammate Von
Miller said about Tebow. “No matter how many interceptions he throws, no
matter how many touchdowns he throws. I’m going to ride him to the end.
I hope he shut up a bunch of his critics today.” –Von Miller

  • Dante Pakistan

Our D was amazing, if they didn’t play as good as they did, we would have last 27-10 or worse. Props to the D, Miller is a BEAST and Doom is back!

  • King

I agree. Von is a beast.  He seems to get after the QB more after Tebow takes a hit.

  • Anonymous

Hey I’d like to believe that he will be great someday too, but come on, Elway was a terrific pocket passer in college. This is just a classic example of comparing apples and oranges.

In the land of Coors… Miller Time reigns supreme!

Who would thought that “Suck for Luck” would turn into winning the AFC West!!! WOW!!! What a differences a month makes!!!!

Aside from one of the most memorable games I’ll ever see… I took two things from this game.

    1. Our Defense is getting MUCH BETTER. OK I’ll say it. Good.
    2. What if Tebow’s passing get’s better each week? Wow.

  • Dante Pakistan

Still would rather have Luck long term, but this is exciting.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Tanner-Shurtz/1391138783 Tanner Shurtz

    Tebow will get better.

  • Bullgtor

Once Tebow is more comfortable with Fox and staff you will see him start to pass like he did against the SEC defenses where he was impressive.

  • Jennifer

Tim Keep The Faith in God your interview after the game was real you see the reporter that was sitting at the table that couldn’t believe was being real, first i don’t believe he knows God is, if he did he would have seen the God in you,you gave your self no credit but acknowledge to them that it was a team effort and the guidance of your coaches. The Devil can’t see the God in no one, and surely not the faith that surpasses all understanding. You see Tim I hope you prayed for him, let God deal with him you have God ,forgive him for he know not what he do
     God Bless You TT

    hahaha! Phenomenal response!

  • Anonymous

You know, I found it amazing that lost in the shuffle is how much better Tebow’s passes and mechanics looked tonight. I know he still threw a bunch of off the mark stuff but overall his release was a tiny bit quicker and most of his passes had a sharper spiral. It’s not much, but it’s something!

  • Anonymous

You do have to admit something in you was giddy when Bailey RAN to be the first to hug Tebow though :)

  • Dante Pakistan

Blah, blah, blah, anyone football analysis?

  • BroncosSHOW

Fact is………….TEBOW’S A WINNER! Hmmmm, don’t see anyone talking bad about him tonight. I guess all those fans, analysts and critics decided to keep their comments to themselves this tonight. Nice to see the whole team showing up in the last 3 games, that helps too.

Bottom line……………. TEBOW IS A WINNER and that is what he’s done his whole football career, since the age of 7. The more analysts, critics and so called fans, tell him and say he can’t make it as a quarterback in the NFL, the more he will prove them wrong! Just as he has done in the last 3 games and just as he has done his whole life, with critics telling him he would never be a successful quarterback. Doesn’t matter how you get the WIN AS LONG AS IT’S A WIN and Tebow has proved he can do that! And proved he can do it better then Orton ever did in the 3 years he’s been here. Get rid of ORTON! He Sucks and is a WASTE to the team! GO BRONCOS!

  • Bry

Wow was that fun or what?

Great special teams and defensive play all game long. Colquitt was all over the goal line and really made a difference today. The defense was fantastic! Von Miller..I’m speechless about this guy. I gave game balls to the D, Von, and Special Teams.

Offensively a couple of things I didn’t like was the silly call to hand it off to Willis on the 4th and Inches..A crap play call to stall a great opening drive. QB sneak it..The thing that killed me was our average starting field position was around mid field. 3 points and a bunch of 3 and outs..unacceptable on any level of football. Oh, and if our WR’s get two hands on a ball it needs to be caught.

The team is gellin’ and they have been tons of fun to watch. Great win!

  • Dante Pakistan

    Ignorance is bliss huh?

I am now 7-0 in my Pat Bowlen jersey Broncos fans =P Thanks to Josh Temple for some last minute heroics!

  • http://thingsatrexdoes.tumblr.com Mike Birtwistle

Took the words right out of my mouth / keyboard there WB.  Going forward, if Tim can make HALF the throws he SHOULD make to open guys????

  • http://thingsatrexdoes.tumblr.com Mike Birtwistle

Hmmm, I turned down the chance to come over to Denver for the Bears and Patriots games.  Think I may have made a mistake there.

  • Mcano1947

I’m far from a football expert so my opinion is just a laymans opinion. I feel that maybe just maybe tim is one of those players that changes the way the game is played in the pro’s. he just has that it or so it seems. still has a long long way to be a good passer but seems to make strides every week. the Dhas really stepped up remember for a few years our D was MIA now its a killer D and still gellin. hats off to the D coordinatorfor reviving this D. face it if the D was playing at the level it did at the begining of the year and giving up big points we wouldnt be praising tebow today. the win was a complete team effort like tebow said at the end.I’m rooting for the kid and the team.

“The Denver Broncos defense did everything it could to put the football game within reach.
Then Tim Tebow did the rest.” <- Perfect summary, Kyle!

  • Anonymous

Simply… there is just something special about the guys will to win.

That being said, let’s give credit where credit is due.

The defense, led by Von Doom, continues to improve and they played a great game last night.  They kept is close enough for Tebow and mile high magic the work.

    Whidbey
Thinking maybe the Miller pick was not so bad?  We would not have gone wrong with Dareus or Peterson, but this guy looks to be transforming this entire defense.  I like that way they are using him all over the field.  It’s still WAY too early I know, but starting to look like this is the guy you could build the entire defense around.Kudos to Fox and especially Dennis Allen.   Thinking we won’t have any defensive coaching changes next year.  Think what that will be like.PSGlad to see you back on the board!!

  • Anonymous

Oh yeah, Peterson is starting to show up but Miller is HERE!

    And D Allen HELL YES!!

  • Just being honest…

Remember when we all wanted Goodman benched?

Oops…well his days are still probably numbered, but that was a good play.

  • Just being honest…

    ‘What a draft pick!’???

So if Tebow wins us 4 Super Bowls do we elect McDaniels to the ring of fame?  Just asking…

  • Dakota Fan

Totally agree 33- my favorite absolutely had to be when he steamrolled the big right tackle and sacked Sanchez. I think Dave Logan or Brian Griese commented that it reminded them of Derrick Thomas. That’s the ULTIMATE bull rush…
