Tim Tebow Tebowing

Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow "Tebowing" (Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)

Tim Tebow has no problem with “Tebowing” — the latest Internet craze, and the new translation of his last name as a verb.

Quoteth the quarterback —

“It’s not my job to see what people’s reasons are behind it. But I know, like a kid that tweeted me with cancer and said, ‘I’m Tebowing while I’m chemo-ing.’ How cool is that? That’s worth it right there for that kid.

“If that gives him any encouragement or just puts a smile on his face or gives him encouragement to pray, then that’s really awesome and that’s completely worth it for me.”

(Tebowing pic of kid with chemo right here.)

Like everything else with celebrity, some are pro, some are con.

As long as Tebow is fine with it, let some be mocking, if they wish.  I believe the majority will see it for what it is worth…FUN…and a way of celebrating the excitement generated by a member of our team…while at the same time, recognizing his commitment to the game, the fans…and something higher!

I bow to his commitment while I smile as others do their Te-bowing!

  • Strawdog

I could not be prouder of my QB!

  • Odyssee

WELL, i JUST WANT TO SAY, I LOVE MY BRONCOS…AND I THINK TEBOW WILL BE GOOD FOR THE TEAM…HOWEVER, TEBOW IS NOT THE FIRST PLAYER TO KNEEL IN PRAYER WHEN A GAME IS WON OR A TOUCHDOWN IS MADE…PLAYERS HAVE BEEN DOING IT FOR YEARS…I REALIZE THE MEDIA AND OTHERS ARE TRYING TO HYPE HIM UP, BUT, PLEASE…FIND ANOTHER WAY TO DO IT…THANK U!!!!

I know this is a fan site, but why is this “news?”

Cool post Kyle, thanks for sharing

We write opinion pieces, fan pieces, rumors, etc. here as well as the news. You’ll see we filed this post under the “Broncos Blog” category, as opposed to “Broncos News” or “Broncos Buzz” (rumors and such). Those are our three main categories for content.

  • rcsodak

    Huh! Didn’t notice the difference.

    ;’)

Seen Players from NFL,NBA, MLB, do this all the time, why is it so dramatized , see them do it here and there, but if Denver flubs, messes up in 55 min like they did in Miami,  Detroit will take them to the cleaners,  they play that way against the Lions, Lions will be having horsemeat to eat all afternoon. Denver does this, fumble stumble and fall,  by half time it will be 63 – 0 Lions, no prayers in the world will help that. Sounds like a lot of people need to get a life, yea I am a die hard Bronco fan,  but face up to reality.

  • Noskills07

That’s a wacky statement and would love to take a bet on the 63 – 0 score at half… die hard bronco < whata joke , have a feeling your the guy that turned it off after three quarters last sunday… buy a Rams jersey that says Mcdummy on it and move on buddy.

    I love tebowing, haha - http://ilovetebowing.tumblr.com/

It’s an internet meme.  Do you guys remember sad Keanu (Reeves)?  It’s not so much a mocking thing, it’s all in good fun–in my mind at least.  We should all be happy that we’ve got something to get excited about each week in our quarterback.  No more consistent mediocrity.  But I digress.

Yesterday I went down to Zuccotti park (Occupy Wall Street) to #TebOWS.  I was very proud of the result, but tebwoing.com won’t post it.  What do you guys think?

  • Evan Bray

I thought the orange tie/blue shirt was a nice detail.

  • Reverendofrock

Well, as a Christian, I find it offensive.  The guy takes a knee for a quick prayer, and it’s renamed after him??  And now it becomes sort of a game or pose??  Come on, Tebow!  Put a stop to this near-blasphemous activity.  Tell your fans that you encourage prayer, but don’t make a mockery of it by renaming it after you!  Are they somehow going to rename salvation and baptism next???  **Sigh**

  • King

I’m sure Tebow is aware most are mocking, but he’s made the smart move by not saying that.  No worries, because ultimately, God is not mocked, as I’m sure you are aware.  :)

  • Dante Pakistan

Did you tell those morons to get stop whining and get a real job?

  • Anonymous

Seriously?  Your comment offers nothing to this discussion.  I would certainly love to give you my opinions of your comment, but that would be hypocritical, so I digress.

I have to agree that he is not by a landslide the first guy to do this and I dislike the negative press/attention it brings. At the same time I have to give kubos to Tebow for doing what he believes in.

Myself I have always thought that praying to win a game is a little off… When someone, or team or say a boxer says that God or Jesus Christ made him win I always think “what does God or Jesus hate the other guy or team?” I dont see any of the same people saying “God/Jesus made us loose so we prase him for the loss”.

real jobs don’t exist anymore. your republican boyfriends passed laws that allowed your corporate CEO butt-buddies to ship them all to china and india. all that’s left are shitty service jobs at walmart…and the jobs your mom gives out behind the walmart. what a whore!

  • bucky

Have you ever heard Tebow say that? Is that really what he is praying for? One of the more impressive things to me has been the fact that I have never heard him envoke the power of an almighty as the key to his victory. Just like Reggie White of old, this guy has made a choice to keep his faith at the forefront of his life. And just like Mr. White he is doing it in very classy ways. Please check your facts before you say this kind of stuff.

Maybe you should dislodge your head and read what I said… I NEVER said he did… I said when “someone” does, I wasn’t even referring to Tebow any more smart guy… Read it again and eat your crow (you prolly don’t possess the fortitude to do so). And thats the great thing about being here, I can say what I think just like you can. I love it when people like you jump on something with out reading it and make yourself look stupid though!!!

  • Audi

yeah, these clowns on Ipads standing in line at a Starbucks are the answer.

  • Dooon

I have been a life long Bronco fan since 1967 and seen many QB’s come and go. Tebow may be a nice guy, good Christian, dedicated sportsman but it is pretty clear that Tim Tebow is going down in flames as an NFL caliber QB…  The guy has a shotgun for an arm but in the NFL you have to have a rifle arm.
I believe Tim will be gone in 2012 so soak him up while you can.  SUCK for LUCK..  I think Miami has that one sewed up…  I don’t believe were going to win many games on the wing and a prayer that Tebow gives the Denver Broncos.

i suppose you prefer hedge-fund managers and goldman sachs investment bankers.
