Film Room: Broncos’ Von Miller in Sports Science

Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller, drafted 2nd overall Thursday, participated in ESPN’s Sports Science series a few weeks ago. Check it out —

    Well he doesn't fit the system but he'll try to make the system fit him.

    the system requires him to get to the qb – so to me how is that not a fit?

    I know you know way more than I do I have seen your comments else where…. but I think his speed will help him in coverage situations.

    He was the DOMINANT pass rusher in the NCAA during the season because he was asked to rush the passer.
    He was the DOMINANT cover guy in the Senior Bowl because he was asked to drop into coverage.
    Hopefully this transitions to the NFLc because if it does, we're set at LB for years to come!

    It's definitely not his speed that is lacking, he set a combine record for the 60 yard dash. Check out where I stopped the video below. He gets burned real bad, but not because of his speed just because of his lack of awareness on the play. Usually that doesn't matter too much for him in college because he is not so often in that position, but as a 4-3 OLB he will be faced with that play a lot.

    It's not that I don't have faith in him, I'm just a little skeptical on how he will translate to an NFL 4-3. I'm also a bit worried that the DT position will be neglected and that will not help him at all.
