Lloyd: Orton deserves a long-term contract, somewhere

Soaking up some sun and hanging ten in Hawaii, Pro Bowler Brandon Lloyd took some time out of his day in paradise to talk Broncos with Lee Rasizer of CBS Sports.

Admitting he’s only speculating, Lloyd said he sees the Broncos “making a move” at quarterback, with Kyle Orton likely starting somewhere else in 2011.

“I feel Orton’s proven and deserves a long-term contract,” Lloyd said. “He needs to get it where he can get it, whether it’s with the Broncos or with another team.”

The Broncos won’t all-out admit it, but there’s enough columnist cohesion that Tim Tebow is the guy in 2011 and beyond to suggest someone — maybe even John Elway or John Fox — has gone off-the-record and said just that. Even Orton’s favorite target in 2010 knows it.

When someone who has every reason to back up Kyle Orton begins speculating on Orton’s departure in Denver, the writing’s on the wall.  The Broncos will be led by Tim Tebow in 2011.

    I still think Orton should start next year and Tebow should sit and learn. Yes, Tebow is exciting and I am looking forward to him starting eventually, but I think he needs mentoring from someone like Orton.

    Well – if we trade him we can't settle for less than 3rd. The guy is going to go somewhere and start, competently, that's worth atleast a 3rd.

    You mean the same Kyle Orton who would barely talk to Tebow after he got the starting nod or the one that laughed at him as we was trying to out-hustle everyone else in practice?

    With all due respect Kyle, I think Paige has a little more access to the team than most everyone in the media. Interesting article today about Orton taking the O-line and Quinn to Vegas after the last game with no invite to Tebow. Sounds like Orton is amoung the haters, which there are plenty. Hopefully the O-line realizes that with Tebow they will be playing after the last regular season game instead of going to Vegas.

    How does Woody know that Orton didnt invite Tebow ?

    With all due respect Anthony it seems to me that having access to the team facilities doesnt mean you know jack about what they do in there private time .

    What if he invited Tebow and he declined … considering hes promoting the documentary I would say he probably did and I have hard time believing hes a gambler .

    But its easier to believe that he didnt get invited because a 3rd party says so ?

    How does anyone know Orton didnt talk to Tebow the last 3 weeks especially Woody ? lol thats ridiculous and Im sure both players would say that .

    So you dont think veterans laugh at rookies in camp ? make them carry there bags ? buy them lunch ? give them haircuts ? prank them etc. etc .

    Woody doesnt like Orton he even touted Simms over him last year and was dead wrong. I wouldnt believe a word that comes out of his mouth when it comes to Kyle Orton.

    Its not a coincidence that that before camp and the start of camp Woodys writing went something like this .

    Tebow is great dump Orton

    Orton is tops in the league in several passing categories

    Woody (silence )

    Orton is out due to injury

    Woody – Orton hates Tebow isnt talking to him and mocked him in training camp.

    At this point Legwold ,Klis,Lindsey if they dont mention it then it probably isnt even worth mentioning .

    But considering our fanbase a “Tebow great Orton sucks” keyword inclusion in his article gets him a 1o00 more page hits

    Orton steered clear of Tebow, never even spoke to him… Great mentor he would be. You have to have some personality to mentor someone else and you have to have some guts if you are mentoring the guy that is going to take YOUR job. Orton has neither and only cares for himself – NOT a good mentor for anyone.
