Champ Bailey

Facing Peyton Manning is tough. Facing Peyton Manning without either of your starting cornerbacks is tougher.

The Denver Broncos may face that proposition when the Indianapolis Colts come to town this Sunday as defensive backs Champ Bailey and Andre Goodman missed practice Wednesday with right heel and thigh injuries, respectively.

Goodman left last Sunday’s victory against the Seattle Seahawks in the second half. Bailey finished the game but was seen in crutches afterward.

Several Broncos returned to practice Wednesday, however, including starting offensive linemen Ryan Harris and Chris Kuper. Harris has yet to play this season; Kuper missed Week Two.

Also returning to practice was safety Darcel McBath. Running back Laurence Maroney made his Broncos practice debut. Wesley Woodyard did not participate.

Kuper, Harris, McBath and Maroney were designated as limited in practice in their returns.

Champ is an all out Baller! I would bet money that he sits out till Friday and gets some Limited Practice and then plays…

How dumb was that play call that Champ got dinged up on?

That whole sequence killed any chance at a comeback.

Won't make any difference whether Champ plays or not. He won't be 100% and QBs are no longer afraid of throwing in his direction anyway. Also, this is Peyton Manning we are talking about

  • Anthony

Champ still top 5 in cornerbacks

  • MikEy55

i'd honestly only put revis and asmougha ahead of him… if you think about all the other “great corners” are flash in the pan years… rashean mathis cortland finnegan, leigh bodden… the list goes on not saying that these guys are good players but it takes more then a 5 plus int year to make you a good corner… nmamdis considered a top two barely get his hands on any ints

  • Rcsodak

He gave up 0 TD's last year. And when he WAS thrown at last week, it picked it.
But you're prolly still pissed about the Poorti$$ trade, so…..

I don't agree when “experts” rank Nnamdi over Champ for one reason, he plays one side of the field exclusively. Bailey will always line up against the other team's #1 wideout, Nnamdi sticks to his side of the field whether it's the 1, 2, or other.

really and truly the difference maker is McBath that kid can cover a TE.. B-Dawk aint the best at that.. what i really want to see is a pass rush.. something that will rock Peyton Manning… He was sacked 3 times this season so lets see if we can increase that number… another thing i haven't notice is exotic blitz packages… its been only OLB and linemen… Last year we were super creative.. double A gap pressure, safety blitz, OLB blitzing from the ILB spot, DJ playing “free safety” and it goes on… i can say we are missing a major part of our pass rush but those guys get pay too… so if we have any chance of beating the Colts we have to keep Manning on his back, off the field, and force him into bad passes…

Offense we have to run the ball like mad, get Thomas, Royal, Gaffney and Lloyd on miss matches and play turnover free ball

I've noticed the lack of blitzes as well. Whats the chance McD and Wink have been playing their cards close to their chest knowing how tough the next few weeks will be. I expect we will see some new twists in the next couple of weeks.

Wait right thier Champ Baily is the best.Tell me witch corner back is better.reevis got more interceptions then Champ becuas they don't throw his way.Ya truth is they have tested him more but they will stop when he picks couple more passes.Champ still has it!

  • areferee

So what? He puts his training pants on one “pull up” at a time just like every other cry-baby.

No one's for blitzing more than me. But with one notable exception. Not against Peyton Manning. Trust me. The guy is a computer and he lives to beat the blitz. Anyone else, I agree with the above criticisms. But with Peyton, I'd prefer to see an extra d-back like Nate Jones and maybe some deep drops by Wesley Woodyard (who's speed will make him wiser to employ than Mario Haggan against Indy).

But we'll have little chance to win if we can't stop Mathis from twisting inside and pushing through the A-gap. I hope Walton is coached up to lean left and support the weak pass-blocking of Stanley Daniels. Otherwise, Clady isn't the only one who'll be looking over-matched.

fair enough josh. But this season nnamdi is actually switching sides so it will be interesting to see what happens this year with him… plus isn't this a contract year for him? the raiders have to pay him top 5 % of quarterback money yes quarter not corner back money or he can walk away. so with bradys contract at 18 mill favres potentail worth 20 mill and mannings just waiting for his 20 mill a year. raiders could be paying close to 17 million a year for nnamdi haha

    huh?
