PerrishCoxWithout a pick in the 4th round, the Denver Broncos finally went defense on the third day of the draft picking Perrish Cox (5’11”, 195 lbs.) out of Oklahoma State with the 137th overall pick.

Cox is regarded as one of the premiere return specialists in this years draft, but fell on draft boards after being suspended from the Cotton Bowl for violating team rules. He was also not invited to Oklahoma State’s pro day for this same reason.

what exactly did he do to violate team rules?

  • NMBronc

Undisclosed. He was arrested for speeding and driving on a revoked license.

He was also barred from their Pro Day, that must have been one hell of a team rule he violated.

This is an excellent pick!! I'm an OSU alumn and witnessed Cox first hand. The very first time he touched the ball for the Cowboys, season opening kick off his freshman year, he returned it for a touchdown. He is an EXPLOSIVE returner and actually became quite a good corner his senior year. The reason he was suspended from the Cotton Bowl and pro day is he broke curfew before the Cotton Bowl and missed a few team meetings. I doubt that will happen with him in Denver. I'm very excited about this pick.

Perrish Cox made a bad decision in breaking curfew, but this has nothing to do with his character or his integrity nor does it hender his ability to play football. Denver just made a great decision in taking this young man and adding him to an already talented stable of Broncos in the defensive backfield and special teams units. I'm very excited about this union and will be looking forward to the awesome football Perrish will bring to D Broncos fans.
