The Denver Broncos may have allowed another free agent to slip through their fingers.
Former San Diego Chargers defensive lineman Jamal Williams is expected to visit the New Orleans Saints later today, reports NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora. Williams was working out with the Broncos Monday; La Canfora’s tweet would suggest that Williams has left or will leave Denver without a contract.
Previously, guard/center Rex Hadnot and defensive end Dwan Edwards visited the Broncos, but the two sides couldn’t agree to terms. Both players remain unsigned.
It’s a different offseason for Josh McDaniels and Brian Xanders, who seemed to have a vice lock on every free agent that entered the Rockies in 2009 but have been less aggressive this time around. It’s a disappointing reality when a shiny football toy player is staring a fan in the face, but credit them for not paying a player more than what they have him valued, especially in this wild uncapped market.
