UPDATE: Marshall is expected to be in Seattle on Saturday per Adam Schefter.

Adam Schefter Oh boy — Brandon Marshall expected to be in Seattle on Saturday to visit the Seahawks and see if they can hammer out an offer sheet.

Yep you heard it, Adam Schefter said it. It was on the Sports Center so if you weren’t watching you’ll have to take my word for it. Anything Schefter says is usually set in stone. According to the former Denver Post reporter, the Seahawks are considering extending an offer sheet Brandon Marshall and in compensation the Broncos will receive the sixth overall pick. With the loss of Nate Burleson this move does make sense.

Adam Schefter If Seattle signs Brandon Marshall to the offer sheet, Broncos would have seven days to match — or get back the draft’s sixth overall pick.

The Seahawks have also scheduled a visit with Ben Hamilton.

More details up later!

Sixth overall pick? What an insane compensation.

  • Hope

I don't like it.Broncos need to stay with B-Marsh it's sad if he goes.If they do let him go at least they will get a good draft pick out of it.Maybe they get a Sam Bradford then that woul be worth loosing a super star like Brandon Marshall.

  • Nathan

God I hope this gets done. I'd love to have the 6th and 11th.

  • DantePakistan

Schefter is saying we'd work out a trade with Seattle to get back the 14th pick, instead of them signing him to an offer and us getting the 6th. So basically, we're trading Marshall for Alphonso Smith, we got some brilliant people in the front office.

  • DenversFinest

Theres no way in hell I'd take our old pick, its gotta be #6. If it is our old pick, we are the most idoitic people ever, but I bet the broncos will just match the offer if thats the case.

  • MrEast

Schefter says the 6th, Florio says the 14th…

    Who do you side with?

  • Nathan

Schefter's saying the 6th, and he's a LOT more reliable than PFT.

  • MrEast

    Agreed.

  • DantePakistan

Either way we would have traded Marshall for Smith or Marshall for Smith and move up 8 spots in the draft, sounds like an amazing trade for Seattle.

  • MrEast

I take everything I read at PFT with a grain of salt.

  • Scottey

we would just trade that pick or the 11th away anyway. That would be 2 years in a row with high priced 1st rounders that are not guaranteed to work for a few years.

  • DantePakistan

Either way, we'd probably mess up the pick. Everyone is saying it wont be the 6th, not just PFT but NFLN as well.

  • monto

I doubt we can afford two first round picks and 6th would mean a lot of money on a rookie

either way if this was to happen then it'd have to be the 6th, if we end up taking our old pick we'l have essentially traded Brandon Marshall for Alphonso Smith which is just way too much of a kick in the teeth

  • NMBronc

Im my opinion Marshall is gone. If they truly wanted to keep him, they would have tendered a 1st and 3rd. They are loading up on quality depth and saving for the draft, with the expecation of getting another #1.

So we would have the 6th and 11th.

At 6 we take whomever falls; Suh, McCoy, Berry, Bradford, Clausen or Okung. I would almost prefer we trade down for a lower #1 and #2 and take Dan Williams with the lower #1 and WR (Thomas or Lafell) with #2.

At 11; I would say McClain or Morgan. Bryant is quite possibly another BM only unproven at this level.

    Gotta love the offseason!

  • DantePakistan

Why couldn't we afford it? No cap, Bowlen will spend.

  • DantePakistan

I'd rather have Marshall, the 11th and the 14th and not have Smith.

  • landry360

As a die hard Hawks fan I am stoked about getting Marshall, but the Seahawks front office must be having a f'n crack smoking party if they are giving up the 6th overall. Look at what Marshall did to you all in Denver. He needs to prove that he can be a valuable asset for 16 games before you give a potential franchise pick up for him. I'm pissed if it goes down like this. I think the 40th overall and possibly a second next year at best. You can have Chris Spencer too.

  • DantePakistan

I don't like this at all, even with his baggage, Marshall is a top 5 reciever, are you telling me trading him for the 6th overall(could be the 14th) who will have a bust rate of close to 50% and what we would have to pay that 6th, and we all know McCoy or Suh wont drop to 6th, you telling me that will help our team more than Marshall? The only thing I could think of is that the front office thinks Bradford is going 1st and they want Clausen, which makes me even sicker, blah, the new year is already looking bad.

  • mikebirty

You can see TJ Whos-ya-mama loving this. He went to Seattle to get away from Chad 85 and now he ends up with Marshall.

    Out of the frying pan….

  • iBleedBroncos

    I rather keep Marshall

  • broncorelic

Put the pipe down landry. 40th overall…?

  • DenversFinest

If we get the 6th, that just means we want a QB, With the 6th overall pick the denver broncos pick jimmy clausen!

  • DantePakistan

Come on dude, I know our front office is not the brightest but give them a little more credit, then giving up Marshall for 90% less than he is worth.

  • DenversFinest

I would go crazy if we got jimmy clausen, he's got a lil John Elway in him. Something tells me thats our man. That would be fing, badass!

  • http://www.broncotalk.net Josh Temple

    How about no!

  • DantePakistan

    Couldn't agree more!

  • Paul

f all of the draftees….brandon marshall is the best wr in the nfl….he is the hardest to bring down of all nfl players and he gets the job done! people make mistakes and I believe that if they let him go it will add to the pile of mistakes mcd already has made. Marshall is the star on this team after cutler left but are you telling me we can't have playmakers on this team? why risk hazing the fan base…we love this team and the players….so josh mcdaniels wants to take the chance of getting a bust (highly likely) and letting the #1 wr go…putting the nail in the coffin this is his job if he screws this up………….i guess this is why royal sucked it up this season because he didn't want to get traded………wow we have a bright future with josh mcdaniels…..go get your book smart players and law abiding players that say yes sir and jump when you say jump…..note to Josh Mcd:::::: Good players aren't like disposible cameras you dont have to throw them out once you believe you gotten all you can out of them…..this is crazy for the better of the team no matter what….but first you have to know that it is for the better of the team…..please explain someone how getting rid of marshall is for the better of the team….mcd better have some insight on the future….or else

  • broncorelic

Tell us how you really feel Paul…

    <<break>> <<break>>

    BroncoNation-
Offensive wise I agree, we've put up with him this long. Tell me you don't jump out of your seat and cheer when he breaks a few tackles and finds the end zone. I'm willing to put up with it…

  • DenversFinest

Wouldn't you rather have Jimmy Clausen than bMarsh? I would, we are trying to build a dynasty, one troubled but talented WR doesn't get us any closer to our goal. WR's are overated when it comes to winning championships. In my opinion we need a sick D and QB.

  • DenversFinest

Watch this, and most of this is done when hes furt. Tell me he wouldn't be an upgrade over D bag Orton.

  • Adrenaline27

    :( If this happens

  • http://www.broncotalk.net Josh Temple

Clausen is the only guy in this draft I am adamant about not selecting. Yes, that includes Tebow. I would rather spend this #6 pick on Tebow than our #11 on Clausen. That's how much I don't like that guy.

  • sparrowhawk19

I agree with trading Marshall, but DONT DRAFT CLAUSEN that dude is a punk and no leader. It would be Ryan Leaf or Jay Cutler all over again.

  • NMBronc

I would not go this far, but I think it is a waste to use a 1st round pick on a QB in McD's system. Too many good prospects in rounds 3-6.

  • BroncoMan24

Questions though. Do you think they will keep both picks or trade one of them for more picks in the later rounds (2nd and beyond)?

  • BroncoMan24

“PFT is saying we'd work out a trade with Seattle to get back the 14th pick, instead of them signing him to an offer and us getting the 6th. So basically, we're trading Marshall for Alphonso Smith, we got some brilliant people in the front office.”

I thought they can only get the other teams picks not a first round pick they received from another team via trade.

  • guest

you are right, we would get the 6th pick for compensation. they are free to trade for bmarsh with the 14th, however.

  • guest

if we trade for the 14th we better get a second or third rounder too.

  • guest

because if we get the sixth, we trade back with either the 6th or 11th and get extra picks later in the draft.

  • kerry

we would get Seattle's 6th overall pick IF Seattle does an offer sheet and Marshall signs the offer sheet. that requires their ORIGINAL pick. not the one they got from us. now if we worked a deal with Seattle outside of the offer sheet we could get the 14th pick back. which is really stupid because we could have that and not the slow midget. sheer genius at Dove Valley these days.

  • DenversFinest

    Temple-Why?

  • http://nation.theorangepage.com/blog Ian Henson

The bar has been set, Anquan Boldin is apparently a Baltimore Raven for a 3rd round, 4th round and a 2011 5th round draft pick.

The Broncos will be lucky to get a 2nd round for Marshall, he's worth more. Way more.

  • http://www.broncotalk.net Josh Temple

Small hands, bad attitude. The kid is not humble, don't say you're coming in and winning 4 straight championships and leave with one victory in the Hawaii bowl. Arriving at signing day in a limo, getting a black eye in college, etc.

    But mostly, this: http://cdn.ksk.uproxx.com/wp-content/uploads/20

Ya the Broncos do get the firts round pick. The trade would be for seattle first round pick not denvers. So they would get the 6th over all pick not 14nth pick.Unless denver would trade down if they wanted two, but the deal is that Denver gets the 6th overall pick for Marshall.

  • riverscanblowme

That video just summed up something I already knew…. Golden Tate is one bad mo fo that just makes plays. If we drafted him I would need to change my shorts. This whole QB class is weak.

  • Dr.Gonzo

Agreed this dude is a chump, and to whoever said he's got a little Elway in em is delusional.

  • DenversFinest

    Temple- Why?

  • diehardbroncosfan

I think the Broncos want to see how much Seattle is willing to pay for B-Marsh and then sign him to a long term contract because with his high risk and reward, signing him to a contract is difficult. This is also risking because they could get burnt and end up with the 6th round pick or other possible scenarios to dick up draft picks to rebuild the line to a power run attack and continue the transformation to a 3-4. This whole scenario depends on if B-Marsh does want to actually be a Bronco then when the Broncos match it or better, how he decides.

  • Scottey

I have to say I was impressed by the video, even though it was all highlights.

  • anthony33

    Observations:

Denver holds the cards on Marshall… see what Seattle offers him and decide to match and move on or get the #6 pick and from there it's anyone's guess, but it sure gives them a lot of options. Could bundle things up and get Bradford. Like I said… tons of options. Not sure about Claussen, but you have to consider the Wies factor and the offense he has ran for the last 4 years.

Saw where they signed Nate Jones from Miami… this says the Bronx are not afraid to say they made a mistake with Smith and get someone that can play.

Not crazy about about Bannan at all… too small.
