Of the 11:00 a.m. MT games, here are who Broncos fans should root for:

HOU MIA CLE

Houston, Miami and Cleveland wins over New England, Pittsburgh, and Jacksonville respectively would all pay dividends to the Broncos’ playoffs goals. But it wouldn’t be enough.

The p.m. games feature one of the more crucial matchups for the Broncos — Baltimore at Oakland, in which the Broncos have more stake than their own game, in fact (five of ten scenarios involve a Broncos’ win; seven involve a Raiders win).

Finally, the entire AFC will be waiting for the late Bengals-Jets skirmish, with Cincy being the team to root for in Denver.

You know who to root for, now dish it out in the comments!  Broncos playoff scenarios:

  1. DEN win + NYJ loss or tie + BAL loss or tie OR
  2. DEN win + NYJ loss or tie + PIT loss or tie OR
  3. DEN win + NYJ loss or tie + HOU win OR
  4. DEN win + BAL loss or tie + PIT loss or tie OR
  5. DEN win + BAL loss or tie + HOU win OR
  6. PIT loss + BAL loss + HOU loss + JAC loss OR
  7. PIT loss + BAL loss + HOU loss + NYJ loss OR
  8. PIT loss + BAL loss + JAC loss + NYJ loss OR
  9. PIT loss + HOU loss + JAC loss + NYJ loss OR
  10. MIA loss or tie + NYJ loss + BAL loss + HOU loss + JAC loss or tie

WOW. This is just over the top:

“Both Marshall and tight end Tony Scheffler have been advised they will not be permitted on the sideline or in the locker room when the Broncos play the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday in a game with playoff implications.” (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=479…)

If you want to kick a guy off your team for a huge game…fine. you're the coach and whatever…but to not even let them into the stadium? Wow. McD you just sunk to a whole new level.

  • bewilderedbrcfan

I couldn't agree with you more. Who knew that he could be more of a low-life than he had already proved himself to be.

  • WhidbeyBronco

My knee jerk reaction is to lash out at McD… I'll withhold my judgment for just a bit longer tho, maybe those two ran their mouths more than a coach trying to hold his team together can allow?

Who's happy? I HATE being unhappy during the season. Only one team wins every year so one finds other ways to be happy about their team… I'm not happy.

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

    Sigh

  • WhidbeyBronco

Not the point of this thread eh? Watching Miami not defend the Steelers… Go Houston!

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

Steelers winning, Texans losing. Not good.

  • flbronc

yea, but if what bw was reporting that dawk, champ, orton, dj among others advocated a 'hard line' approach- there was a serious problem with these two. as long as that part of the report was accurate, i'll probably side with mcd on this.

  • NoMoreSeasonTicketHolder

I think the question is how many years (now going to be 4 in a row that we have not made the playoffs) are we going to allow the Broncos top brass to drive this team into the ground? Ticket prices are not getting any cheaper!

Plan and simple, you DO NOT deactivate a pro-bowl player, at the very worse, McDaniels could have just benched him on the sideline.

I'm sorry, TWO players with accountability issues, where is McDaniels and his FOUL MOUTH caught on national TV's accoutability. I hope we can win, but if we don't, then the fans should then ask where is the “ACCOUNTABILITY” from the coaching staff and it starts at McDaniels and ends with the ownership!

Thanks McDaniels and Bowlen for not allowing us to make the playoffs for a 4th straight season

  • http://manchester-architects.com T-Money

Steelers' D is not looking so hot though. Although neither is Miami's.

  • http://manchester-architects.com T-Money

If there is any good new form an injury (which there really isn't) but Wes Welker hurt his knee. Good new if we play them. Feel bad for him though

  • d_e_e

Why doesn't anyone thats pissed about the decision thank Champ, Dawkins, and Orton?

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/01/03

I was surprised to hear of the benching, but not surprised to see Marshall's reaction. Will we beat KC without the both of them, I want the best TEAM on the field and not individuals.

Honestly, I'm tired of Marshall's act. It wont bother me if he's played his last game as a Broncos. The only reason this team has won 8 games this year is the Defense.

  • broncogeoff81

Yeah the captains (Orton, Dawkins, DJ, Champ, and Dan Graham) told McD that they wanted him to take a tougher approach. So it is the team's will that Marsh and Scheffler sit. I like it. They don't deserve to play if they're just going to hurt the team.
I have a good feeling about today. Lets hope the Broncs pull through and we can play next week!

  • http://manchester-architects.com T-Money

First of all I don't think that they went to McD and told him to sit their best offensive weapon. They probably said that “we sick of losing so come up with some better f-ing plays”.

I'm on Marshall's side. He didn't do anything. This is all on the Coach!

  • http://manchester-architects.com T-Money

    Read my comment to DEE.

  • d_e_e

This is all I'm going to say to you, if the Broncos blowout the Chiefs without Marshall … what will your response be?

“Oh its only the chiefs , MCD is still wrong?”

This is McD's defining moment as the coach of the Broncos , if they lose today then hell will be unleashed on him?

But what if they win? then what?

Before taking sides know this … you have no idea what goes on in the Bronco Headquarters….I still trust this coach, more than I trust a guy that slipped on a Mcdonalds bag and sliced his arm open.

  • d_e_e

If I had to guess on what's going on this is it.

Marshall doesn't think we're going to the playoffs even if we win against KC, what he doesn't want to do is get injured in the finale of a meaningless game to him, Marshall wants to get PAID…why play in a game you dont think doesn't matter and which could cost you $50 million.

  • broncogeoff81

I disagree T-Money. Granted, our offense has struggled. But it seems Marshall was only in it this year for himself. He got his hundred catches and a Pro Bowl bid…he doesn't care about the team. The fact that his own teammates wanted McDaniels to hold Marshall and Scheffler accountable shows that the team thinks they can win without them.
McD will be held “accountable” if they lose today, but if they win and make the playoffs, he'll hardly be criticized.
And Marshall is guilty. He got an MRI done, and it revealed that he was faking. His hammy is fine. McDaniels is doing the right thing…keeping his prima donna WR in check and voicing the will of Marshall's very own teammates.

  • WhidbeyBronco

the coach may have started this bs but their actions seems to have backed him into a corner… I'm with McD here if the other players really went to him.

Shanny would not be having this problem.

  • flbronc

so at this point, with all the 1pm games in the 4th, it looks like we will need baltimore and nyj to lose as our only way to get in. wont matter (for playoff implicatoins) if we win or lose.

am i reading our scenarios right, or am i wrong in that? i think we have scenario 1 and 10 left in play.

  • WhidbeyBronco

Meanwhile back at the ranch… looks like we're all Raiders fans today.

…I just puked in my mouth

  • WhidbeyBronco

just one more reason we should have already paid the man!!

  • Jrod

    correct

  • flbronc

houston is fighting to make a game of it. 27-20 now. 9:41 to play

  • Jrod

if houston CAN pull off a miracle, then we would only need EITHER the jets or ravens to lose

  • flbronc

they've missed a fg and an extra pt in this game. if they had either of those points, i'd feel better about their chances.

they did just make ne punt though.

  • Jrod

    they just tied it

  • Jrod

and now miami is back in it….

  • monto

    and intercepted brady …

  • monto

Houston ahead by 7 against NE with 1:54 to play

  • herc_rock

    Houston wins baby!

  • Jrod

    YES!

  • herc_rock

    come on Oakland, you jagoffs.

  • herc_rock

    Pitt wins.

  • http://manchester-architects.com T-Money

Actually no. If we would have won I would have said “Now what do you do McD? Do you sit him again?

As far as I'm concerned not only did he loose the game he lost a bunch of respect from his players and his city.
