Chris Simms

It’s looking less and less likely that Kyle Orton will suit up against the San Diego Chargers Sunday. While Josh McDaniels said he is “very hopeful” Orton will play, the signal-caller continues to be held out of practice with a severely sprained left ankle.

Orton missed Thursday’s practice, reports the Denver Post’s Mike Klis, the second consecutive session that saw backup Chris Simms receive the starting quarterback reps.

Running backs Correll Buckhalter and Lamont Jordan continue to miss time as well. Back at practice were Brandon Marshall and S Josh Barrett, who both served integral roles in the Broncos’ Week 6 win against San Diego.

It looks like Chris Simms might be getting his first career start since 2006, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.

It looks like DP's run of imperfect spelling continues (see article and the spelling of 'conseuctive'). Did Woody write this article?

Ah crap, who wants to buy 3 tickets for Sunday? Just kidding, I'd never sell out like a punk.

Dude, how do you get such a good internet connection from YOUR MOM'S laundry room?

    I have a dream,
A healthy Simms starts and doesn't look great. We are down slightly at half and McD puts Brandstater in. Rallies the team, new blood and excitement. Come from behind win, Brandstater plays for the next decade or more.

    Better dream,
Orton plays, plays well and Royals runs the opening kickoff for a TD.

Is it true what I read on MHR that Orton's ankle ligaments are torn? If that's right, Orton will probably out for a long time.

His ligaments are torn. It sounds like he will be able to play through but it will probably be once the pain has subsided enough to allow for weight and pressure.

Orton would be better than Simms…… Perhaps someday I can make this statement without laughing.

If we lose to SD and NY, then it will be time to give Brandstater a shot against KC!

Another thing is that it is his left ankle so he won't have to plant it like last year when he hurt his right one. Denverbroncos.com has an audio interview with Simms on Wed. where he says Orton has said it feels better and better each day. I realize he didn't practice today but it bodes well for Orton to play on Sunday.
