Correll BuckhalterAfter suffering an ankle injury in Week 4 that left him on crutches, Denver Broncos running back Correll Buckhalter returned to practice Wednesday. Buckhalter was held out last week — including Sunday’s game against the Patriots — with what was rumored to be a high ankle sprain.

What a fast turnaround for a usually-tricky injury. Expect Knowshon Moreno to still get the bulk of the carries, but Buckhalter’s return is encouraging. Because of the extra prep day, the Broncos won’t release a Wednesday injury report, but we’ll keep an eye on his status throughout the week.

Considering how weak San Diego has been against the run it will be nice if we can get him back in the lineup to spell Moreno and keep him fresh.

the final piece to the wild horses is here. It worked with Orton motioning imagine Buckhalter.

fantasy quandry–will BUCKHALTER PLAY OR NOT THIS SUNDAY

It was called the wild horses and not wild cat because it was Orton motioning and not another RB. The point was to force NE to lineup to maintain “gap integrity” while letting Orton read the defense. Then Orton was to move quickly under center and hike the ball before the defense could realign.

That is why the Broncos completed every pass under the formation. If you put Buckhalter in Orton's place it is a completely different thing.

Besides that the Wild Cat in and of itself is not a very successful formation. The only team that seems to run it with any efficiency is Miami and that is a team that pounds the ball just as well in normal running formations.

Considering Moreno has gotten the majority of touches since week 2 and without those two big TD runs Buckhalter had (I could have made those runs the holes were so big btw, it had little to nothing to do with Buck's skill) he would have minimal total yardage or fantasy points so far. I would keep him on the bench. Don't expect him to get more than 5 – 10 touches even if he does play and the odds that a giant hole opens up on one of those touches is slim to little.

Who's to say we couldn't be like Miami with the Wild Horses formation? In my opinion, the Buckhalter/Moreno combo is as good or better than the Brown/Williams combo. Don't get me wrong, the Brown/Williams combo is really dangerous, but I feel our combo could do just as well or better. Why couldn't it work as well as it does with Miami?

If they really want to get creative they can throw hillis in there and have a 3 back 1 TE and 1 WR. I dont know how you play that defensively when all our backs are execlent recievers. But i love the idea of Knowshon and Buckhalter on the field at the same time. Our O-line is far better than Miami's and they do a great job of running down field.

that might be true. but you cant discredit a man for chunking up yardage when his oppertunity presents itself.

Buck won't play Sunday for sure, but he might play Monday…..
