Our weekly perusal around the Interwebz for water cooler fodder.

ESPN: 8th
Mike Nolan’s defense has been stingy with points and is starting to get attention for a major turnaround.

BroncoTalk: 6th
Glaring Stat: Denver has six interceptions on the season — each pick by a different player.

CBS: 5th
Defense, defense and more defense. With that unit, does it matter that they don’t have Jay Cutler? They are the surprise of the first month.

FOX: 12th
WHAT A SURPRISE: Umm, well … how about just about everything? Are you kidding me? After arguably the worst offseason in NFL history (non-T.O. division), Denver’s defense has become the NFL’s stingiest a year after costing the team a division title (led by a guy named Elvis, no less) and Brandon Marshall has supposedly and belatedly bought what coach Josh McDaniels is selling his players.

NFL.com: 5th-10th
Eight panelists post their personal power rankings.

USA Today: 8th
Now Josh McDaniels has the chance to teach Bill Belichick something.

anything about if Clady gave up a sack or not??

  • TheTroglodyte

Thanks for putting that together and its about time we get some respect. Then again, not getting respect has paid off well for us so far so I can't complain.

BTW has anyone checked out the discrepancy between Ortons DVOA ranking and Cutlers so far this year?

    (Orton #9) – just ahead of (J. Flacco #10), (P. Rivers #11) and (C. Palmer #18)

    (Cutler #26) – just behind (K.Collins #25), (B. Leftwich #23) and (S. Hill #22)

How about the Ryan Clady record?Did he brack no sack record?

  • TheTroglodyte

Good lord don't you know how to use Google. Yes he did already.

As far as credible news reporting goes, Bleacher Report falls somewhere between Wikipedia and the trash can.

Sacks are a very touchy/tricky thing to grade, and are tracked by Stats Inc. I'm not sure if they've released Week 4 sack statistics, it usually takes 'em a few days. With all the sacks and pressure Orton had this week, it's possible Clady was attributed for a half sack or something, so we're waiting.

  • TheTroglodyte

Half a sack doesn't count and he probably did. It has to be a full sack. He gave up a half sack last year.

  • IanHenson

It's 2005 all over again, a QB no one really wants doing what he does, an immaculate defense and a good run game. Well, maybe not exactly like 2005, didn't we go 5 or 6 games without anyone scoring a TD on us?

  • Roy88

Stats in has Clady with 0 sacks allowed through 4 games this year.

Awesome, nice find, thanks! We'll get a post up this week about it.

  • herc_rock

Yeah, Bleacher Report is awful. I've found more credible stuff in my stool.

  • rcsodak

1/2 sacks don't count against him.
