Our weekly perusal around the Net for water cooler fodder.

ESPN: 13th
A great start against lightweights will now be measured against a much tougher five-pack.

BroncoTalk: 8th
Glaring stat: Eddie Royal only has six receptions for 42 yards in these first three games. I know the ball has been spread around a lot, but it’s surprising to see fresh Eddie disappear.

CBS: 15th
Maybe Josh McDaniels knew what he was doing after all, and we were all wrong. That defense is really playing well, not giving up a touchdown the past two games. Of course, it was against Cleveland and Oakland.

FOX: 17th
WORSE THAN RECORD: I’m very skeptical of Denver’s 3-0 mark posted against Cincy, Cleveland and Oakland, but the Broncos’ revamped defense has still given up just 16 points in three games.

NFL.com: 8th-19th
Eight panelists post their personal power rankings.

USA Today: 16th
They’re 3-0, but not getting respect.  Is this the worst 3-0 team ever?

well they are all very good points. who have we really played? a lucky bounce and then beating the 2 worst offensive in football really doesnt make us a top team. i mean if we give up 200 yards on the ground and get beat then it shows the defense isnt as good. the defense needs a good showing, not great but good, to actually be justified as a top defense. but of course we have to win too. so the defense BETTER be great because if we have to rely on Orton to bring us back from a deficit…………..then we are in trouble.

I find it funny that so many people are out to say that the Broncos are the worst 3-0 team in NFL history. yes, we played 3 very soft teams and got lucky. But we're 3-0, most teams aren't, that should say something. just because a team is supposed to be good or bad shouldn't really reflect how people think of the broncos.

Even if the broncos blow over the Cowboys, they'll be calling the broncos the worst 4-0 team in NFL history. You can't really control how far people want to call them. I wouldn't be surprised if the broncos make the playoffs and having people call them the worst playoff team in history.

wow we beat Cincy, who then beat GB and Pitt. I don't care how we won a win is a win, and yeah we got a lucky bounce but if we wern't good enough to beat the Bengals then they should have put up more than just one touchdown LATE in the fourth, we earned that win! and we played bad teams the last two weeks but we crushed them! on all sides of the ball. if we had squeeked my the browns and the raiders it would be different but we did what a good team should have done, beat them badly. I don't think we could have done anything better. people are just mad cuz they look stupid now for saying we were gonna suck this year. win or lose next week we are a top ten team. The Florida Gators have played crap teams so far and there number one in the country! why should it be any different?

  • WAM

Whats the love affair with San Diego. They have the worst coach in history. 77-95-1 all time. They are the worst first division winner in history and yet every year they are favorites to win it all, even though every year its the broncos that are in thier way, and if not for the collapse thyed just be another 88 team for that lousy coach.

  • Knight

lol I feel like Roger Dangerfield! Broncos get no respect, no respect.

  • Knight

oops I meant Rodney. why did I but Roger? lol

  • Andpark

Broncos held Cinn scoreless til late in the 4th, sure they were rusty but I am not making any excuses. There are freak plays like Stokely's all the time in this league, Favre's last week?

Then we go on to not just beat the Browns and the Raiders but murder them and are in complete control of the game.No respect but I like it, bring it on. Underestimate us all the way til our bye week. I will be excited if we can get 1 of the next 3 but I think we have a serious shot in all of them.

  • peteBABRONX

We have a great shot at winning our next 3, 2 at home, and one against the chargers….. No matter what we do we won't get any respect…i'm with the ones who say..lets fly under the radar. 4 valid points…Our D is 10 times better than last year, hands down!!! The complete team looks confident. McD looks confident, much more than shanny had the past 3 years!!!! and the game winner/loser is gone…..Baby J is gone….the “gummie” Bears can have him!!! WE WILL WIN MORE GAMES THIS YEAR WITH A TOUGHER SCHEDULE THAN WE DID LAST YEAR!!!!! GO BRONCOS

  • steeplebomb

Oh but the Chargers are a team that are just loaded with talent. I mean just absolutely loaded.

Still not thrilled with offense. Finally looked a lot better against Oakland, but I wonder if we'll see the return of Orton from the Cincinnatti game against a pressuring defense. Yes, the win against the Bengals looks much better now that they have beaten GB and Pitt, but it does not change the fact that Orton had a bad game and that lucky bounce likely kept his butt off the bench. Neither Cleveland nor Oakland had the same kind of pressure. Dallas *might*. They certainly have the talent, but haven't shown yet this season.

If Dallas had both their RBs playing in this game, I don't think you would see much love for the Broncos in these polls this week. Without the two-headed monster Dallas can't do much on offense. They'll win the game if they get pressure on Orton, force the Broncos into a FG only or 3-n-out offense.

I'd rather be the worst 3-0 team than the best 0-3 team

It sounds like to me that even now Orton has pain in his finger. He is still practicing with the glove and looks like he will wear it again this week. If it is still hurting him now imagine what it was like week 1?

I am not making excuses for him but the week 1 outing must have been difficult to play through that pain and I reserve my final judgement on Orton when is is finally 100%.
