McDaniels

Josh McDaniels has made his message clear and consistent to the players. Now, the public gets to see what the new Denver Broncos Head Coach is all about: winning.

“It’s all very simple what my motive is: winning. That is the only reason I’m here. I’m not interested in talking about anything else but. Every minute of this job is done with winning in mind. That’s all I talk to the team about. Winning is always the message. That’s the only message.”

Losing just isn’t an option for this guy. Terrific article by Bill Williamson. McDaniels’ confidence in this team is infectious, and has me pumped for the regular season.

It’s good to hear his game plan is winning. What?! You mean the other 31 teams have the same game plan? Shit…

Nice to see the childhood philosophy of
“Dosen’t matter if you win or lose, Just how you play the game.”
Holds true today…. SpyGate part 2 here we come.

  • bw53

    I love that gung-ho level of motivation…sounds similar to….

Bluto: What? Over? Did you say “over”? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
    Otter: Germans?
    Boon: Forget it, he’s rolling.
Bluto: And it ain’t over now. ‘Cause when the going gets tough . . . the tough get going. Who’s with me? Let’s Go! Come on! AAAAEEEEEGGGHHHH!!

  • DB

yeah, just like the coors commercial. YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!! uh do you ever play to lose the game??

Hey guys, Im a Bears fan for those of you who arent familiar so ive been lookin at the football giants alot this week. I have also been intrested in your team more so this year for obvious reasons we wont get into now. Now to the point here your coach needs to win this year for many reasons but he may need a better deffense to do so. Lookin at the Marshall rift or whatever it is and the rest of the Off weapons your team would more than likely still produce without him. As ive heard alot on the G men this week they need to bolster the WR spot lacking Plexico due to his blatant ignorance. What about a trade Denver gets rid of Brandon for lets say a Kiwanuka or a less probable but possible Justin Tuck making both team better I feel. Now Im not sure about those two in a 3-4 but they are very good at the DE spot.Plus the giants are so deep on that line well I would at least make that call. What do you guys think would that work for your squad or am I stupid? Let me know

  • OC Bronco

I don’t know how they would be in a 3-4 Wes but I haven’t read anything stupid from you. It would certainly make the G Men the team to beat again but I don’t think they Broncs will deal B Marsh even for 1 of them. He is a difference maker and I believe will play like one this year.

  • wes

Right on OC It was just something that crossed my mind that no one else has mentioned to my knowledge at least. I really think Eli is gonna falter this year without his 6-4 safety net. Its been a while since Ive been around a 3-4 where does the emphasis lie more with ur LBs or do u depend more on gettin ur line to apply the pressure? I know disguising blitz’s should be an effective asset being that another LB on the feild always means ur faster. Alot of teams are going that route this year and im excited to see it in action.Good luck Sat nite I hope Orton does better if not go Simms.

Call me stupid, but I will never forgive Pat Bowlen for two things; 1.) Making out like it was the hardest thing he ever had to do in firing Mike Shanahan, when it became openly known after the fact, he was secretly courting Josh McDaniels weeks before the firing of Mike.. How slimy and underhanded is that~! 2.) Pat Bowlen allowing Josh McDaniels to let Jay get away. How so very very stupid! Yes, I know Jay was being most difficault in not returning the calls and in demanding a trade. But let me ask you this people; if you found out that your coach had lied to you, was secretly going behind your back to facilitate a trade unbeknownst to you; would you not feel just a wee bit angry, betrayed, and unwilling to communicate with this so called coach…(that quite frankly, I feel does not know his a** from a hole in the ground no matter what others may say) It would have been far better for the Broncos to swallow their pride and woo Jay back into the fold however they could, for whatever it might have took, than to have traded him for Kyle Orton (who incidently is not worth a tinker’s damn.. not now nor ever!) I know this for a fact because I have watched him for the time he has played in Chicago. And Chris Simms is another lousy worthless washed up quarterback, that what was it, 3 teams let go because of his poor performance on the field? So while the Denver Broncos struggle this year, it will be quite interesting to see just how well Jay fares in Chicago. If the management with the Denver Broncos were not so stuck on stupid, and had kept Jay this year, they might have had a chance to win more than just a few games this season. Now however, with the quality of the quarterbacks they have chosen to lead them into battle, it will be most interesting to watch as they lose; game after game, week after week, and all because of their refusal to use even the smallest of comman sense, and to swallow their pride to do the right thing… for the fans who have supported them in the best and worst of times..

Hey gary h, if you’re so enamored with cut-n-run’er, and have watched the bears all this time, why are you even here?
    1. WHERE is it written where Bowlen was actively courting McD before he fired Shanny? Proof please.
    2. Cutler is a nobody. He’s a coach killer. He had as big of part in losing the last 3 games as ANYBODY on the team! He threw how many int’s to TD’s?
It’s OBVIOUS you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about, especially concerning Simms. Maybe you should actually do some background checking, googling, on subjects you obviously know NOTHING about.
If I didn’t know better, I’d say you were kerry…..as you both have nothing but criticism for the team/ownership.
Blowhards like your ilk is what makes owners actually fire coaches.

  • kerry

    rcsodak:

no im me. i dont use other screen names to convey my points. but its funny that you think someone else is me because apparently nobody but me can have a bad opinion of the Broncos right? moron.

but i do have nothing but criticism for the coach.ownership because there is NOTHING worth putting praise upon. im supposed to be supportive of dumping a Pro Bowl QB?? you think fans would be ecstatic if the Colts traded Peyton Manning for Kyle Orton? PFFFTTTTTTT! im supposed to be happy that we didnt address the front with anything other then backup castoffs? does it say that in the official “Bronco fan handbook”?

and the ONLY reason you are bashing Cutler is becaue you hoping he fails so it somehow justifies dumping him when in fact he is the ONE reason we even won 8 games last year. this team would have won maybe 4 games without him. you gonna tell me Patrick Ramsey would have won 8 games last year!? HAHAHAHA. and if there is ANYONE to blame for the 3 game collapse last year its the DEFENSE that should be blamed. how is it Cutlers fault that the defense gave up over 30 to the Panthers, over 30 to the Bills, and over 50 to the Chargers? how was the bad ST’s Cutlers fault? did Cutler play great in the last 3 games? no he didnt play great, but the defense was a thousand times worse and depending on Cutler to win a game all on his own when the defense gives up 30+ is asinine to say the least. you should do some fact checking or research on ANYTHING before you post. or at least get some common sense. Elway himself wouldnt have been able to win one of the last three games with that terrible defense. so if you are gonna play the blame the game, blame ALL who are responsible, not just someone who suits your argument.

and really i think you, like most, are AFRAID of Cutler being a winner in chicago that you incessantly bash him for every little thing under the sun. and if you the smallest bit of common sense you would at leats admit that we have seriously downgraded the QB position. but your kool-aid loving antics wont allow that will they? you know perfectly good and well that Cutler has gone to a team that actually has a defense and a ST’s unit and a running game and it scares you that his holiness McDaniels made a huge mistake that may have set us back for years to come. but instead you take the kool-aid highway and bash Cutler for everything in the hopes it justifies him being gone. when in all actuality Mcdaniels made a huge mistake. ever seen cutler record when the defense gives up 21 points or less?? its immaculate! 11-1 i do believe.

  • kerry

correction Cutler was 12-1 when the defense gives up 21 points or less. the one loss was against Green Bay when Favre beat us in OT. so just think what Cutler could have been for this team if he actually had a defense. but of course no defense is all Cutlers fault too right? so is the Iraq war, bad health care and the outbreat of the plague in europe during midevil times too right?

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

You know I don’t disagree on anything you said about Cutler, kerry. The revisionist history of Broncos fans who have turned the table on Cutler is something to behold.

The same fans who PRAISED Mike Mayock one year ago for being right-on about Cutler in the draft are now PRAISING Mel Kiper for his inhibitions on Cutler. It’s unbelievable.

I think the difference between kerry and I is I still see improvements in other areas; I like McDaniels and think we can win this year. But we would have won more with Cutler.

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

And it’s worth noting that Cutler has different problems in Chi-town. He has the special teams and a defense that I think will be better than the 2008 squad with Tommie Harris back, but the rest of the offense is trash. He’s going to have to see how far he can carry that side of the field.

  • Dave Smith

I totally agree with you, Gary! I won’t forgive Pat Bowlen for those two things, either! Just because your new head coach has a brain fart, and decides to bring Matt Cassel along with him to replace a top-notch, future Hall of Fame quarterback like Jay Cutler, doesn’t mean you have to have a brain fart, too! Kyle Orton can’t even hold Jay Cutler’s jockstrap!
